This wine bar is kind of perfect. It's very chill, busy but not overcrowded, plenty nice booths inside and a cute cozy patio outside. I love wine but I'm no expert, so it's helpful that the bartenders are so knowledgeable and let you taste different wines before you settle on one. Was in here Saturday afternoon and had Kendall waiting on us. She was awesome helping us choose our wine and other drinks. We liked it so much we came back Sunday after my daughter's show at the UCB. This time Nicole was our bartender and Kendall came later. Nicole was just has helpful as Kendall. This time we had food as well. Reggie whipped up an awesome Cuban along with several other food items for us to enjoy. I love that they spin vinyl here for the music and it's all great jazz. I loved going here before COVID but it's been a really important part of lockdown for me. Everyone who works here is so knowledgable. I love that there are wines in wide price range so I can get everything from a weekday orange to a special occasion red. What a wonderful surprise! The food here is out of this world! The cheeseburger, Cuban pressed sandwich, hot pretzel, sausage plate and Farris salad are all incredibly delicious. I found this bar very disheartening.. It made me sad to think this what our neighborhood is like, what it represents. I live a 3 minute walk away up Kenmore, its literally around the corner, I was so excited when I saw them building it. It looks great inside, but the people running it ruined it for my group and I. (Let me add that the doorman Greg is very nice and welcoming). Their first Saturday night open I met my partner and his friends from work around 11:15. There were maybe only 6 other people in the whole bar. We took up a booth and started ordering drinks from the bar. Beer list is ok, its a wine bar so no worries there. What instantly struck me was they they had "Miller High Life" on tap, poking fun at the cheap 40 culture in their hip wine bar. It seemed insulting to turn a regular peoples drink into a cliche "we're down too" kind of thing. Whatever. Dismissing that I liked the beer I ordered but only received half a pint as the rest of the glass was filled with foam. I drink beer. I understand that certain beers are served in different glasses/amounts. This was the standard glass for all the beers. My partner ordered me a drink and asked the long haired man (I believe he's one of the owners) if he could top it off, you want to actually get what you pay for. The man looked at him, said nothing and produced a tasting glass, filled it and pushed it towards him without another word. Rude. But admissible. Some people are just salty. We continued to drink and have a good time, once it came near to closing we got a verbal 10 minute warning from one of the bartenders. Fine, okay cool 10 minutes. 2 minutes later the other owner came by and said 8 minutes. We looked up, saying ok. With only a two gulps left in a glass he came by and said 6 minutes. 4 minutes. 2 minutes. Its 2, its time to go. At this point I was stuck by how rude they were, especially on their first Saturday night open. We had absolutely every intention of leaving. I got up and went outside and decided that I wouldn't come back. I understand that when your new the laws are really strict, but there's no reason to be so dismissive to another human. I'm not sure if because my group was in their work attire, or that they didn't have beards, or want the wine, or wear hats or know that apparently Tabula Rasa means "clean slate" that they weren't cool enough to be wanted at this venue. I know that's bitey of me to say but we felt judged. I can honestly see it doing well in this neighborhood, because I think they will cater to the type of people they want in there greatly, and that makes me sad. The slate definitely did not feel clean and I can honestly say none of us will be returning. read more

Great spot. Was in town for work, and stopped by Tabula Rasa. Its a great bar with an inviting atmosphere. Casual but classy at the same time. Great selection of beers with local options. Bartender let my friend taste a few wines until she found the right one. Super friendly guys working there. When the Bob Dylan record ended they let me pick the next album. Awesome record collection made the choice tough, but James Brown was an easy winner. Food-wise: We shared a cubano, the sausage board and the pretzel. Love this sweet little haunt in Thai Town!! Though the ceilings are high the vibe is intimate- I ended up lingering a lot longer than I expected because I felt so cozy. I love a bar with a good patio and this one didn't disappoint- the next-door neighbors are obviously artists and seeing all of their work while hanging on the patio with friends gave me a sense of a neighborhood I'm not familiar with. Having the option of drinking "the champagne of beers" or actual champagne suits me right- as I like to mix it up so that I don't end up with a shocker tab at the end of the night. Love this new place! Great neighborhood bar with a comfortable atmosphere and some nice - not too expensive - beer and wine selections. Also, the High Life on tap is a bit of a guilty pleasure. I've tried a number of the food items. Loved the grilled cheese, pretzel, and this plate that had pickled vegetables and other goodies. The owners Daniel and Zach are usually behind the bar and make the place very welcoming. Apparently they make their own mustard and pickled vegetables on site.
