Stopped in for a drink by the water. There was a lot of staff and we were greeted when we walked up and went to bar. Bartender and 5-6 other staff members around no one said anything to us. Food was great! We had fish tacos and crab cakes- loved both of them. Tried a bushwhacker per recommendations and loved it. Also had to get key lime pie before we left town and it did not disappoint. Wait time of 30 min ok for party of 6, requested in the shade outside or inside. 60 min later was seated at two separate tables with a column in between the tables in the full sun. Table for 6 behind us in the shade opened up 2min after we sat down. Manager said we couldn't move because a party of 6 had been waiting. We told so had we for over an hour. The patio situation here was spectacular. Overlooking the ocean with colorful tables and chairs, you cannot go wrong. Everyone was wearing masks and being very Covid appropriate. We started our meal with the most delicious basket of crab claws. Honestly for 23 bucks you could just eat this by itself as an entrée. And we dipped them in butter like crazy raccoons. So good. Truly maybe the best appetizer ever had? I ordered the Tacky shrimp, which was basically a shrimp gumbo. With French bread which was basically soft warm bread. It was OK. Boyfriend had the chicken that came with green beans and onions. He ate the onions and green beans before even thinking about eating the chicken. Their online hours were posted as closing at 9, so we planned on arriving (from Tennessee) at 730. The hostess took one look at us and said they were no longer accepting new guests, and also refused us any to-go food. Then, as we were leaving down the stairs, starving and in shock, a party of four or five walked up to the hostess stand. She caught me staring, gave me a mean smile, and then gave the party a table. Wanted to save anyone else in the neighborhood the trouble of stopping by. They use a very elitist and very selective seating system here, and will also refuse you to-go food if they feel like it. The sassy bass right down the road, however, welcomed us with a smile, so luckily our kid got to eat after ten hours in the car. Recommend there instead! read more

First of all, this is not a review of the food. We've had their po'boys (blackened crawfish) before and they were very good, which is why I'm not going all the way to 1 star. This is a complaint on their inability to take a to-go order during their to-go order hours. I called the day before to find out their to-go order hours and they let me know, so that I can could order something the next day. I understand the busy season, the kitchen's getting backed up, and the staff shortage issue, but if you still give out to-go order hours, you need to honor them unless you have something that says otherwise. Well the next day, I called during the to-go order hours and was told they could not take my order. I told them I didn't care if took 2 hours, we just wanted food. They still refused. If someone is trying to give you money for your food, and saying that they don't care how long it takes, when it's during your to-go order hours, and you have nothing listed anywhere that says to-go orders may not be available during certain times, I don't understand how in the service business you say "no." Compare this to another restaurant I called that had this listed on their website: "During peak hours to-go orders may not be available." (Tacky Jacks, use that sentence on your website and social media so you don't have to deal with the headache of angry customers in the future.) Even with this listed and being slammed just like Tacky Jacks, they went out of their way to take our to-go order when they could have easily said "no" because they clearly had that listed for times like this. And to make it even better, when I got there, I received some of the best service I've had in a long time, and they had my food out to me in 35 minutes when they told me it was going to take much longer. read more

My wife and I stopped by Tacky Jacks in Ft Morgan this evening to try a couple of items on their menu that sounded great. We went with the "Mexican Garbage" and "Firecracker Shrimp PoBoy". It was met our expectations for a dive bar type joint. The food was flavorful, and well cooked. In regards to the portion size and flavor: Mexican Garbage - the portion on this nacho platter was enormous, and had a nice combination of toppings. The 16.99 price tag might have been a bit steep looking back on it, but we discussed that the next time we go we would absolutely order those again. - the flavor was fantastic on this dish. The chips could have been a tad more salty, but that's being very picky. The ground beef used for the nachos was fabulous. Firecracker Shrimp PoBoy - the portion of the sandwich was what you expect from a PoBoy, heaping. The amount of fries that came with the sandwich were a bit limited, but we honestly didn't need them with how big a meal we were eating. - the flavor was spot on with this menu item. We absolutely loved this dish. Best eats of the night. We will definitely return to Tacky Jacks again. read more

Ordered some food to go while staying in Fort Morgan! Was very happy that the option to not cook was there. It wasn't a far drive for us and there was a ton of parking at the location. We ordered gator bites for an appetizer (they were pretty bland) and each of us had an entree. Our favorites were the Firecracker Shrimp poboy (great flavor and delicious NOLA bread!) and the regular shrimp poboy. The hush puppies as a side were also delicious! We were only in Gulf Shores for 4 days and we ate here twice is was so good! The staff was super friendly! Everyone from the hostess to the managers. We had Dexter as server, he had a ton of energy and made us laugh several times. If it's not raining there are plenty of picnic tables to sit at while you wait for your waiting to be sat (they text you). Go at sunset and it is a great view! I have no food photos, but we had several things. We loved the poboys, and they have fresh grouper. If you're a drinker give the bushwacker a try. The location is handy for those of us who stay in Fort Morgan and don't want to drive into Gulf Shoes. However, the prices are high, food portions and quality are low, and the drinks are weak and served in small plastic cups. ($12 for a dismal mojito). The grilled shrimp and baked potato were fine, stay away from the overcooked, half corn on cob. Hush puppies had no flavor. My husband had the Cajun Flaky fish and he rated it a "C", my daughter had grilled grouper which was slightly fishy and she rated it a "C" as well. I'd skip this place and look elsewhere. read more

(I think the location in Yelp is wrong and should be in Fort Morgan.) Tacky Jacks 2 is a little bar with a great location directly on the bay adjacent to the Fort Morgan Marina. We were greeted by boisterous locals gathered around the bar downstairs. Messages on dollar bills tacked to the walls tell stories of happy vacationers imbibing beers and cocktails. There were plenty of tables both inside and out. The local drink, the bushwhacker, is the Wednesday night special at $4. The bushwhacker is a delicious coconut rum (and a few other liquors) milkshake. We had a round....yum. I highly recommend. PBRs were a buck. Young people played pool at the indoor pool table. There is also a pool table out on the deck. Tacky Jacks 2 is a great place to come and watch the boats and have a drink. There is a restaurant upstairs which we did not try. Food was only ok. Sweet tea was not ok. It had a very odd taste. We had a group of 15. They seated us at separate tables that were all together. It would have been very easy to turn the tables to accommodate all of us sitting together. The only person that was friendly was the lady working in the gift shop. Visited Tacky Jack's 2 while on a day trip to check out Ft. Morgan. There's really not a lot of places to eat in Ft. Morgan, with the exception of this and a couple of pizza places that don't have very high ratings. We stopped by for a late lunch on a week day in early April and were seated quickly. The atmosphere is intentionally touristy and kitschy and pretty fun. We sat outside where there were plenty of umbrellas so we didn't bake in the sun. The lunch menu is expensive, so be prepared to drop some serious money for lunch - $60+ for the three of us, and we didn't even get alcohol. But your only other option is to drive 30 minutes into Gulf Shores. I will say that the food was very good. We all got PoBoy sandwiches and the portions were generous. No one left hungry. Only complaint - and it's not a big one - was that when we were done and ready to go, it took forever for the waitress to check on us and bring a check. I had to walk inside and find someone to track her down. All in all, pretty good, if not expensive, casual lunch, but don't be in a hurry! read more
