Tried Taco Bell Cantina for the first time. I had heard is was an upscale version of Taco Bell, with adult beverages (i.e. alcohol). First, there was nothing "upscale" abut the premises. Generic fast food place. They had kiosks to enter your order, but I decided to order from the girl at the counter. She seemed completely disinterested. I probably would have gooten more interaction from the kiosk. The food was straight-up Taco Bell. I'm not a big Taco Bell fan, but they do have some good items on their menu, and the food here did not disappoint. I got an assortment of soft tacos, fresco style, which were very good. My fiend had the cantina burrito and declared in "OK." Now the "adult beverage part." I tried one of the frozen drinks. I'm not ever sure what it was supposed to be. It wasn't bad - kind of like a frozen slushy. It couldn't taste any alcohol. Definitely not my idea of a drink. In fairness, they did have beer on tap, which would probably have been a better choice. If Taco Bell is trying to create a differentiated experience, I'd rate this a complete fail. read more

Pretty pricey for the end product. $10 for a veggie bowl where I added onions and jalapeno's and removed the pico. I guess that means to reduce the rest of the ingredients and little or no cheese. Jerk employees with smug all over their faces. I took my receipt in from a couple of days ago...not to return to complain but because I was actually ordering again. After I ate I showed the ,'whoever she was' my receipt from a couple days ago. Initially I just asked......'do you guys still have chicken soft tacos. She said yes. Then I showed her my receipt from two days prior, and told her I ordered 3 chicken soft tacos, but was charged for beef substitute. Wth? It's fast food, I got my food fast. My only complaint is that they forgot my burrito and sauces when I ordered on their app. They got to my friend before I tell them he's there for pick up. My friend wanted to try the verde salsa and order 8 packets. It came out to 2 dollars for them. I was hangry so I was beyond disappointed that my burrito was not in the box. I wish they did a better job of double checking. My friend should've checked to so I'm mad at him for that. He told me it wasn't crowded so I don't know why they missed my burrito and his salsa. taco bell cantinas are higher end. Great beer selection for a taco bell and it is pretty clean considering it is in downtown. The kiosks are very easy to use and they make their food for the customers really fast. There is a tv screen that is synced with the order readiness system they have where you can order on the kiosk or app and have no interaction at all with the staff who gives you plentiful hot sauce! read more

The new chicken nuggets are really good, white meat chicken moist and delicious. Flavor wise there's not really seasoning on them (like chick fi la)but they're good. I won't review the rest of my order because I'll get aggravated all over. They were five dollars for five nuggets, they are probably double the size of the Chick-fil-A nuggets maybe even a little bigger but there was a mix of big ones and smaller ones in the box so my review is on taste not on price, you should probably at least get an eight piece so it's not something that I would buy over and over again for that price maybe just every now and again because they were so delicious. read more

There's something about this spot that made me feel welcomed from the second I stepped in, maybe it was how the staff greeted me with genuine smiles or how they seemed to move with a calm kind of purpose that set the tone, either way the food came out shortly after and it was just straight up tasty, nothing gimmicky just good solid flavors that worked and felt like they were built with a bit of care, each bite had a little depth to it and I appreciated that the ingredients didn't feel overprocessed or drowned in too much seasoning, it was balanced and clean and reminded me that simple things done right are always worth it, I also liked that the service never felt robotic or scripted they just seemed like good people who liked what they were doing and that really showed in the little things like how they checked in without hovering or how they made sure everything was cleared quietly and smoothly, I left full and content but not overly stuffed and honestly that's the kind of meal that sticks with you more than you expect. read more

Out of the many fast food options, Taco Bell is probably one of the few that I actually enjoy. I've heard about their Cantina's before with locations in San Francisco and Las Vegas but never came across the opportunity to visit. Now a Taco Bell Cantina is basically a neighbor! Self-service kiosks, boozy freezes, open kitchen, and a modern interior feel this sit-down Taco Bell is definitely a level above the rest. Located close to San Pedro Square and next to a Tiki Bar this is a perfect location whether you are out bar hopping and looking for some late-night drunchies or get a panging hunger for a crunch wrap supreme and a beer. Came in on a Friday night, which so happened to be the day after the release of their Cheddar Toasted Chalupa so I of course ordered that with beef, their Baja Blast with alcohol and a regular crunchy taco. Cheddar Toasted Chalupa - super crispy, cheddar on the exterior of the chalupa gave it extra flavor and funk. The chalupa is bready and a perfect vessel for holding together the beef, lettuce and tomato without becoming soggy. Pretty good! If you're a fan of parm crisps, you'll enjoy this! Doritos Locos Cool Ranch Taco - tasted the same as any other DoLo taco you can get at Taco Bell Frozen Baja Blast - with alcohol; you can choose an option of tequila, vodka or rum. I got tequila, but kind of wish I opted for vodka. For those wonder, it tastes EXACTLY how you think it tastes. Long story short, you can make this at home ... but hey, when in Rome - I mean at Taco Bell Cantina. Service was quick and they call out orders by name as well display ready orders on a monitor. Menu contains a few items not found at other Taco Bell locations and also serve boozy freezes, coffee and beer. Clean interior and the tables have outlets. Only downside is the place is a bit small so it gets crowded quick. Security is also present, caught a few guests trying to bring their boozy baja blasts outside. This isn't Vegas, y'all. There are parking garages near by that they validate, so parking is relatively easy. There is a small patio out front; however, when we entered and left there were people smoking a cigarette and then a blunt there... The inside of the Taco Bell is very nice though. There is a decent amount of seating around and you can order via mobile, on their electronic touchscreens in front, or at the counter. The service was quick and friendly. It's a cantina, so they have alcoholic drinks, which are nice. I tried two of the flavors--Baja Blast was the best and some red one was absolutely gross (tasted like medicine). Food was always made well and service was pretty quick too. I came here on a few weekends and it does get crowded, but nothing crazy since it does die down after awhile. Small store for a fast food, but still spacious with plenty of seats. Also, if you want to use the bathroom, you have to ask them for the key. read more

Yay cantina finally opened in SJ!! Came here around 8pm on a Friday and it was pretty packed. Everything except alcoholic drinks are self order on a screen in the middle of the store. I got the alcohol Baja blast and cantina steak/cheese nacho box (according to the worker, the cantina nacho boxes are the only food items that are unique to cantina and not available at other Taco Bells). The alcoholic Baja blast was def overpriced ($7 for a small) but I guess it's for the experience. They give you a choice of vodka, rum, or tequila. I chose the vodka and tbh it barely had any alcohol taste even though I saw the guy pouring a decent amount into the cup?? So yeah one cup def wasn't enough to feel anything, but it tasted pretty good. And then my friend got the frozen margarita which actually tasted a lot more like alcohol :0 The cantina nacho box (~$7) was decent for fast food IMO, and portions were a lot bigger than I expected. You can see in my pic that it was pretty loaded with sour cream, cheese, salsa, and steak. Service was okay and parking is kind of a pain, but that's expected cause it's downtown. I was hoping it would be bigger to accommodate more people. When it's packed, it's freakin crowded! Lots of college kids around (duh, SJSU is right there). They have kiosks to order things yourself or you can go to the counter and order. You choose whatever type of alcohol you get with your drinks. They have beers too. I tried the baja blast freeze with vodka. You can barely taste the vodka. Tip: you can't sit outside if you have alcohol. It's a great addition to DTSJ. Perfect for drunk munchies. This taco bell has a different feel to any other bell i've been to! The exterior is really pretty; the font and signage u see before u walk in is aesthetically pleasing. They also have an outdoor seating with a couple tables as well. When u enter, there r three kiosks with huge touch screens u can order from. The interior feels spacious and clean. This location is pretty new so that is probably why. I ordered a crunchwrap supreme and my name was called very shortly. The staff was on it and very friendly. One guy even helped to pack up the remainder of my food when i was done and wanted to take it home. Another unique thing about this location is u can buy alcoholic beverages! I really want to try this but didn't have the chance to this time around. Hopefully next time! I wouldn't mind swinging by this place again when im downtown again :) read more

This review is for management at this location. You need to hire some kind of security at this location. I work in downtown SJ and have frequented this Taco Bell several times. It is being overrun by the homeless downtown and they can be very rude - aggressive. I was in there the other day and saw a homeless person throw the whole POS checkout computer over the counter because they wanted to charge him for a cup so he could get some water. I have also seen multiple times where there is police activity in this location. I feel sorry for anyone who works at this location it's really getting worse. The food is .. Taco Bell. It ain't for the faint of heart or b*tthole; so when you come across someone that says "I don't care what's in the meat" and they were raised on it, take it that they mean business. Cantina's been on my list to check off: a fast food restaurant that serves alcohol next to my favorite crunch wrap, chalupa or $5 promo box. I've bookmarked to drive up to Pacifica and make a day out of it by the beach but my experience down here already had it beat. I can tell you I didn't get the sh*tz at the beginning of a night out and probably have the vodka baja freeze to thank for that. My advice is stick with the questionable beef and slushies and don't go steak and beer tap if your stomach ain't ready. Since my company moved to downtown San Jose, Taco Bell has been the place I've frequented the most when I forget my lunch or am craving breakfast. How can you go wrong with $1.29 sausage breakfast burritos?!! I mean, $1.00 would be even better (as some Taco Bell locations still have) but definitely hits the spot! Their app is easy to use and order online. Best part is , is that they serve breakfast until 10:30/11:00 AM I believe so I'm never in a rush to get breakfast before breakfast hours are over. I usually give a little bit of extra time and then run downstairs and my order is usually ready to go. This definitely beats waiting in lines, although it does not seem to be very busy at breakfast times. I have only gone once for lunch but also ordered online. They have self-serve kiosks inside also if you prefer to order that way. The restaurant itself is always nice and clean looking when I run in if you prefer to eat in doors.
