Closed 40 minutes early so they didn't have to make our order. Told us they had more important things to do.

He was hilarious, welcoming, and just genuinely fantastic at what he does. He kept joking that I must be Latina because I could say a few words, which turned into such a fun conversation. We ended up bonding over the fact that my fiancé and I are Greek, and he had actually studied the Greek language--such a random and awesome connection! On top of the amazing service, the food was absolutely delicious. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Luís really elevated the whole experience, but the combination of his personality and the incredible food made this a place we'll definitely be coming back to. Highly recommend!

I had a puffy bistek taco, and it was not as flavorful or tender as I expected, and much smaller than I remember. At $6/taco, I would have expected either a more complex flavor profile, or a larger taco. The vibe is fun and funky, but not for me anymore. The service was good, and I really liked our server. No nonsense and prompt, and when you have a hangry 5 year old, it's greatly appreciated. Especially after changing his drink order 6 times in 30 seconds. He thoroughly enjoyed the verdue puffy taco, so it's a win for us, too! Overall, a great vibe for a younger crowd with young kids. Just not for myself as a go-to.

My date's meal was also incredible and we both just kept looking at each other like "wait...why is this SO good?" But what made it special was the people. The staff and owner were unbelievably kind and welcoming in a way that felt genuine, not performative. You can feel the care in the space. It had that cozy, joy-filled energy where you leave feeling a little more human than when you walked in. Portland is lucky to have them. Already plotting my return.

Bottom line food was very good & the staff was extremely friendly and I would go back again to try other entrées.

That's on me, though, because this is an excellent local restaurant run by a great family. And it says something that they have been around for so long and have even survived (And expanded!) through COVID. The front counter area is a bit crowded and busy because the door opens right up into it. It's efficient but it does mean making your selection and order can be a little awkward if there are others waiting. After the counter, though, there's plenty of space inside to sit down and there are even several tables outside along the building. The food was great. Like I said, it had been a while for me, so I decided to keep it simple and go for a few tacos. I will say that $6-$6.50 feels steep for a single taco. However, I have watched and listened to many chefs say that the idea that Mexican food should be quick and cheap is a huuuge misconception. So, while I'm no food expert, I think that's something to consider, and of course I understand that prices these days for raw materials have increased considerably. Ultimately it's certainly not a cost prohibitive level at this point. I had the Pollo con Mole (Chicken with mole sauce), Taco al Pastor (Pork and pineapple), and the Barbacoa (BBQ goat) Tacos. My favorite by far was the goat. I'm a sucker for Tacos al Pastor so that was good, and the chicken with mole was great. I got an extra order of chips because I didn't realize the tacos came with chips. So heads up on that if you want some chips with your meal. One of the things I was most excited about was the Agua Fresca. Basically it's a fruit juice. They make those and horchata (rice milk) in house with rotating flavors. The agua fresca was strawberry when I got it and it was absolutely delicious. I definitely need to keep Taco Trio in mind the next time I'm hungry for some takeout. They should not be missed!

For my portion I ordered the Combo #5 and side of Mexican rice. The combo #5 came with a chile rellano, burrito and enchilada. The flavor profile of all three items were very similar especially between the burrito and enchilada. Food itself was pretty bland except for the heavy cheese and enchilada sauce on everything. The Mexican rice was good but I wish it came with a side of some sour cream, pico or something as it was pretty one note and got a bit redundant. All in all, not the most exciting meal in the area.

Arrived and they genuinely seemed confused about what a reservation was. Took 5 mins to be sat in an EMPTY restaurant. Then took 10 mins for the waitress to bring water and ask for drinks. In an EMPTY restaurant. We started strong by ordering three items. A blood orange margarita, a skinny margarita and table side guac. They were out of two. One of them was the guacamole. Let me repeat that slowly: A Mexican restaurant. Out. Of. Guacamole. That's like a steakhouse being out of beef or Starbucks being out of coffee. Now I know what you're thinking, must have been at the end of the night right? 5pm. They literally just opened. Undeterred (mistake), we continued with ordering the margaritas. What arrived can only be described as a lime-adjacent science experiment. They were so bad that we didn't even bother ordering food -- we asked for the check and left. When margaritas make you reconsider sobriety, it's time to go. To make it even better, the poor teenage waitress was apparently left alone to figure out how to make margaritas on the fly, as if this was her final exam on "Intro to Bartending: Trial by Fire." None of this was her fault -- she was doing her best while the restaurant actively sabotaged her. In summary: * No guacamole * No menu items * No drinkable margaritas * Yes to chaos I came for tacos and tequila and left with a story, a bill, and the strong urge to apologize to Mexico. Would not return unless the goal is irony or performance art.
