I like this place. I love the tacos and taco burgers. The super burrito is pretty good as well. I usually stop in maybe once or twice a month and the service is quick and the staff is very friendly. Taco Casa is a great chain. It offers cheap, quality Mexican fast food with lots of cheese, and great flavor. I stop in at this location after I finish my classes at UT Dallas, probably 2-3 times a week on average. The majority of the employees here are very pleasant and help make the experience enjoyable. Honestly this is the only Mexican fast food joint that I go to anymore; When I go elsewhere I find myself noticing things like dry or crusty parts on my tortilla, or "burnt" tasting beans, or not enough cheese etc. The only reason this location doesn't get five stars (The chain itself is well worth 5 stars) is because the quality of the refried beans and the preparation of the menu items is not terribly consistent. Some days the beans taste good and the items are prepared in appropriate proportions. Other days the beans taste off, or the bean to cheese ratio is appallingly off, or the item is a bit too sloppy and messy, or you get raw onions mixed in where they have no business being. In general I would say it is high quality the majority of the time (and always on frijoles Friday) but there is a significant percent of the time that the quality does not meet the standards of the chain. To end on a well deserved positive note, this place still offers great food at low prices and there is definitely a reason that this is my exclusive Mexican fast food joint and I continue to come here 2-3 times a week and never miss a frijoles Friday! I ordered Super Nachos, a Soft Taco, and a Super Taco this evening because I've read reviews on Taco Casa being pretty good fast-food Mexican fare. I went in to a new place with an open mind, and an empty; yet gurgling stomach. I decided to order a variety of items just to get an overall feeling of the place. Ordering was easy, and customer service was very warm, and welcoming. My order was made, yet the cashier charged me for a tostada that I didn't even ask for. He asked me if I had .43 on me, and after I said, I only carry cards he mentioned "Don't worry about it".. Okay...I rolled my eyes in wonder. So he gets his manager over to clear the transaction, and apologizes for his mishap. No harm, no foul. I get home after being stuck in Preston Rd. traffic and my food was still rather warm. I took the bag in and took out the assorted items, boxes.. where they apparently packed the Super nachos separately (meat,cheese,tomatoes, jalapenos, sour cream) in a container, and an entire to-go box full of warmed over corn tortilla chips. After clearing a somewhat puzzled look off my mug, I began to assemble the nachos. I figured they could've just done the exact same thing in the restaurant, but obviously that wasn't the case. I ran the nachos through my faithful microwave for 20 seconds to have hot nachos. Boy was I disappointed! I've had better nachos for a much higher price at a Texas Rangers game. The cheese had the generic "nacho cheese" theater like smell, and plastic looking texture as it glimmered from my overhead LED living room lighting. The taco meat was somewhat decent, not dry but nothing to write your mother about. The refried beans were pretty well executed, at least putting Taco Bell and Bueno to shame but that's rather easy to do in the state of Texas. On to the namesake, the crispy taco. How hard is it to mess something so genius up. Well, Taco Casa didn't meet the mark here either. The majority of the filling was cheese. I'd say about 2" of cheese before your teeth and tongue interluded with any afterthought of tomatoes, soggy lettuce, or gobs of sour cream. The meat was well seasoned on the other hand. The shell had suffered from the trek home, and was quite soggy and pliable in the hand. All in all, I'd re-consider another trip and meal from the fine folks at Taco Casa. I'm a veteran of Taco Delite for that go-to, better than average "fast-food" taco place. The experience from Taco Casa just wasn't one to write home about, and I just hope my stomach agrees with me enough to keep me from praying to the porcelain gods later. I will not be back! read more

They deserve less than 1 star. I've emailed to complain to headquarters before and got no reply, so clearly HQ doesn't care what these people do. I saw other reviews and decided I would try it since it's near my home. glad I did, for a fast food place it really was way above average,, better than the other fast food Mexican places, even better than some sit down restaurants. I bit into the crispy taco and did not have grease running down my arm. The staff was friendly and actually smiled at me when I was handed the food.. Oh, finally!!! I have waited so long for Taco Casa to open near Plano! The best crispy beef tacos, always made fresh with the crispiest shells, finely grated REAL cheddar cheese. Please note that although this is a fast food Mexican/taco place, it's waay better than Bell, Bueno, Cabana and Del. I would say it's on a whole other level than those places. Been a lot since it opened here and it is awesome! They really pile on the cheese! The super burrito and regular tostada are superb. Plenty of staffing and very clean establishment. Taco casa has been doing things the same since 1973 and haven't lost their way. Their cinnamon chips are the best I've had since taco tico in Kansas. Recently had the super taco salad and the taco burger which were great too. Haven't tried a bad item yet. read more

Taco Casa is the best drive thru taco chain in North America Taco Casa is such a weird concept, it feels like you went back in time to the 1980s. And that is definitely not a bad thing considering the severe drop in quality in most fast food chains since that time. I say this because the menu is completely minimalist. No flashy marketing, no gimmicky flavor of the month or cheap box marketed toward teenagers. Just simple orange and yellow stripes, and ridiculously good super tacos overflowing with real cheddar, ice cold sour cream and fresh diced tomatoes and lettuce. You know how 80s this chain is? They got black olives on the chilada! (chiladas are amazing enchilada like tortilla with hot sauce, refried beans, cheese and ground beef) I asked them how they make their food, the cook the beans fresh every day, you wont get hard powdery beans here, their cheese is the kind you grate at home or finely grated like tacos have at a dine in restaurant. They use REAL ground beef in their food, not that psuedo soy processed sludge you get in taco bell. Also the nachos rock. It's most definitely a step above taco bell (frankly it puts it to shame) better than taco bueno (and less greasy) and better than taco cabana (cheaper too). The restaurant is always clean, the service is good, and they have a loyalty text message club to get weekly offers. Give it a shot you will probably love it unless you hate good food. read more

Went to the drive thru today. Ordered 12 tacos and 2 orders of nachos. Nachos were not in bag. Tried calling the location several times and get a busy signal nonstop. Just trying to get my money back on nachos that were not received. Where is the customer service here??? Even tried leaving this comment on their website and it kept saying error. Guess at this point it's easier to dispute the charge with my credit card company Rather than drive across town to speak to a manager at this establishment. Who has time for this??? Not good, very strange.....burritos were way overfilled with cold clumpy beans, bean tostada way over topped with cheese it was spilling over on the tray I would say at least 1/2 a cup and again beans are cold. I returned tostada told the lady behind counter it was cold and got a fresh one it was exactly same as the one I returned minus a little cheese, I have never had a bad experience at other TC locations don't think I will be back to this one again. read more

I really enjoy the food for the price and the specials are amazing. BUT the inconsistency with the hours drives me up the freaking wall. I only come here once or twice a month and at least 5 times I have come by during posted hours and they were closed. Tonight the open sign was still on and they were supposed to close at 12; I arrived at 11:00 on the dot and they told me they close at 11:00. Simple, delicious Tex-Mex. I've had the Super Burrito, Super Nachos and the Taco Salad. Everything is inexpensive but with big, generous portions. The salad is probably my favorite menu item. Clean atmosphere, friendly, polite staff. Free drink refills. What's funny is there's a Taco Cabana on the same property. I love Cabana for their flautas but Taco Casa offers better nachos, burritos and salads. read more
