I've been contemplating to write this review. I was planning to write a raving five star review from my first experience a few weeks ago. Til we decided to try other items last week. Negative stars for sure. Besides it's a bit tricky finding the entrance driveway. The drive thru is simple enough. The building and signage are a bit outdated. The first visit, my friend and I had an asada torta and a couple chicken tacos. We absolutely loved every bite. Now to last week, we were excited to come back to try something different. We had a TE burrito and a super burrito asada. The burritos were a large portion but not sure about it being over $15. Anyhow, I noticed my super burrito was poorly made. It looked filled but when held, it just flopped. Like it could at least been firmly wrapped. First off, it was salty than expected. I couldn't tell if it was what not so much asada or the overflow of beans. Now let me get to the reason I will not ever be returning. Halfway trying to enjoy this flopping burrito, I had taken a bite and almost broke a tooth. To my shock, it was some kind of anatomical jewelry or rivet of some sort. Either way, I was grossed out. That is so disgusting and can't believe this business hasn't been shut down. With other experiences from other yelpers, how on earth does this establishment pass inspection?!?! read more

Never did I ever think I would be reviewing TACO EXPRESS. Well, here we are! They recently revamped their menu and it looks great. I decided to try it. A few days ago go the TE Burrito was a pleasant surprise. The tortilla was crispy and flaky, the cheese was also very well done. The rest of the ingredients were tasty as well and it came together perfectly. Today, however, the person who made the TE Burrito was not the same person! The tortilla was greasy not well done at all, the cheese was hardly melted and it looked like just a whole bunch of half assed slop in a mediocre tortilla. Who ever is in charge of quality control, epic fail. A burrito with a $15.99 price tag better be on point and live up to its hype. Retain and redirect. Food takes time and effort. I have never left a review before but after going here once they changed the menu i felt it was absolutely necessary, the carne asada fries were my favorite thing on the menu, once they revamped it, it ruined them for me the fries are completely different and for lack of better term the meat taste like mystery meat, its just not the same at all! Im even sad about them taking away the half order option but i would be willing to pay any price if they changed the carne asada fries back. I think its a little crazy to revamp and have the carne asada fries as a fan favorite on the window since they have completely changed! Never again. Like so many places, the prices went up and the quality went down. Been going to this Taco Express for over ten years, will not return. We got two crispy tacos, one chicken, one beef. My first bite of the chicken was ultra salty, like over the top. Tried another bite and it was equally salty, too salty to eat, had me concerned that maybe the chicken was going bad so they over salted it, also, a piece of chicken bone fell out, so glad I didn't bite into it. On to the beef taco, it was chewy with barely any beef, we opened it and there was just a tiny amount of grey colored beef mush in the bottom, also not edible. We got the TE Burrito to share, we used to love the Mexican burrito, but it's no longer on the menu. The burrito was tasty but mostly beans and rice, barely any beef, way over priced too. The meat and consommé are well-seasoned and savory. They also give you a good amount of beef as well. The churros are also mouthwatering. I have only tried this spot once and I thought it is awesome! DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THIS SPOT! Service was friendly and accommodating, giving me extra hot salsa with a smile. Then, I opened the boxes of tacos, it looked like a lettuce taco. I felt disappointed with look of them but biting into the tacos, it worked beautifully. Well seasoned juicy meat(s) gave way to the lettuce, that crispy taco shell they do is perfect, the cheese is awesome, and they have a drive though. This is my go to spot. I will say some days are better than others but they're good enough. My usual is usually the Al pastor super burrito or the Al pastor street tacos. For a fast food Mexican restaurant, I do think the prices are a bit inflated. However, I'm a creature of habit, so it's good enough that I keep coming back. Staff here are friendly enough. They're quick with their food and provide little to no conversations but they're not rude. I've never been inside the restaurant so I do not know how it looks/compares to others. read more

Ordered through Drive Thru , 2 Steak Quesadilla and 1 Chicken Quesadilla, King Burritto, Beef and chips and Chicken Tacos .. We asked the lady to repeat everything we ordered and she said it correctly + the receipt stated correctly.. As we came home, the Quesadillas all have Beef and my chicken went missing.. The worst taco burrito place I've ever ordered from, never again I ordered a Carne Asada burrito. It was the worst burrito I've eaten in many years. I had tons of chopped up little onions, and it felt like a bushel of cilantro and very little meat and tortilla was hard on the ends the worst, now for the street tacos oh my God! I thought how nasty are these, a ton of cilantro a ton of those yellow chopped up onions, and just plain nasty, never again I recommend you don't eat here. No wonder they stay open till 1 AM, that's when most of the drunk people go in there and don't even recognize how gross it is. read more

I'm so disappointed with whatever is going on with Taco Exxpress. Their super burrito is now $18.52. Just 6 months ago it was 13.95. Their Pozole was my favorite thing to order. It's now also pretty expensive. I would have continued to order if it was that same, but it came with 1/2 inch of grease floating on top and was so incredibly salty, I couldn't eat it. Total bummer for me. Not going back. Added: i called the place and they are willing to take it back for another pooled or my money back. I dined in for what was the worst so called burrito I've ever eaten. I ordered a carnitas burrito without rice. What I received was a bean,onion, and cilantro burrito that literally had about two tablespoons of meat. It was so loose and wet I had to keep it in wrapper. Immediately I remembered why I stop eating here. The cashiers were quiet but busy. The dining area was clean with a tv blasting some foreign television show. I ordered a bacon breakfast burrito and added sour cream and asked for less eggs. The burrito was overly wet with eggs that weren't cooked all the way through, with an overload of eggs, despite me asking for them to go light on the eggs and there was barely any bacon or potato in it. Because of the loose sour cream and runny eggs the burrito was extremely wet and unfavorable. Definitely a waste of money, not to mention I added a tip when paying before. In the last 6 years of living in Fairfield I have not found great Mexican food. Admittedly I haven't sampled all the different choices. My first taste of TE came when someone bought me lunch one day. I was instantly hooked. Since then I've sampled a lot of different offerings. The breakfast and regular burritos are very good. The breakfast burritos are my favorite. They use potatoes, egg and choice of protein. Usually my protein of choice is Carne Asada or bacon. Make sure you get their choices of salsa. But my most favorite dish is: carne asada fries, oh my. They use 3 kinds of cheese, guacamole, crema, thin fries and tons of carne asada. I usually drizzle their green sauce for heat. The green sauce brings that spicy sour kick that contrasts the saltiness of the beef. I mean if I could only have one dish to bring to a desert island this would be in the running. Magically delicious!!! And I've never ate there so I can't say much about dining experience. But it looks like a converted fast food joint. It is clean and they get the foot out reasonably quick. Decided to try this location after driving by it a few times. Ordered the #2 crunchy taco combo. For a drive thru order, there was a moment of waiting. But wasn't too bad. The food came out nice and hot. The flavors of the beans and rice was good. Nice crunch on the tacos. I do appreciate they supply the order with hot and mild sauce. There is definitely a nice variety to order from on their menu board. I like how they have daily specials. Will definitely come back and try something else on their menu. read more

Still my favorite place for al pastor and chicken tacos! I went on a Sunday evening and the drive thru had 1 car in it. So weird! I think everyone was out for Father's day. Typically though, you can expect a full line in the evenings. They open late, but not 24 hrs- see attached pic. Street tacos come topped with salsa, cilantro and onions and they put grilled onions, lime, and grilled pepper on the side. The grilled onions are my fav, please never stop offering this! I also opted for the rolled tacos plate which came with 3 beef or chicken rolled tacos, rice and beans for $10ish. It was a pretty hefty serving considering they give you a ton of rice and beans on the side. They don't use partitioned take out boxes so its just all touching. If you don't like your food to touch, you've been warned. The rolled tacos are topped with guac and cheese. This seemed like a decent option considering a separate side of rice and beans would have been $4 each, and for about the same serving as what was in the box. FYI- ALL prices have gone up. Don't act brand new like this is the only place doing it. We know inflation has hit everyone hard, and businesses need to do what they need to do too. I just hope they can readjust prices one day per the economy. $3 for a street taco is a lot, especially for fast food, but these are the times. A super burrito is also $11.50ish now but its large enough for 2 meals depending on your appetite. I've seen burritos go for $13-15 now so... this isn't the worst price on the planet. Taco Express has become a Fairfield institution to me, and my #1 go to spot for street tacos. Having tacos through a drive thru is an extra bonus. I hope they never close. read more
