Discovered this joint two weeks ago in search of the perfect fish taco outside of Cabo. Came in on a Sunday to try it, returned back for taco Tuesday, then burrito Wednesday and as I'm writing this review...I'm sitting in the outdoor patio with an ice cold Pacifico waiting on another order of crazy delicious, blackened GRILLED fish tacos (and shrimp tacos too). Great place to grab some tacos on Tuesdays. Tacos here at $1.50. The best value are the blacken fish tacos. They're a decent size and I will typically be full after three tacos. Another plus for me is that I live down the street from here. The convenience for me to come here and fill up for a few bucks is amazing. It may not be as good as CA fish grill or bear flag, but it is still very solid. This place is at a very quiet intersection. There's a good amount of parking and if the lot is full, there's plenty on the street. There is also a lot of seating here including a outside area. read more

A tiny hidden gem! This is my go to place every time I want to have a simple, fast, and quality meal. I've tried their beef, fish (my favorite), chicken, grilled shrimp tacos here. Their foods are finely seasoned; I don't need to add extra spices or anything which is a plus, because I'm not even sure if I've been eating correctly :D However, they do have good selection of common sauces one would expect to find at a Mexican restaurant. This review is for the fish burrito, which I highly recommend (see pic). It's not on the menu, so you have to request it. DO IT IDIOTS! Okay that was mean but I'm serious. It's soooo good. And I love the fresh salsa bar they've got. One salsa in particular is REALLY spicy and though it puts me to tears I pour it on like there's no tomorrow (looks kind of like a pureed pico de gallo). I know a lot of places have dollar tacos for Tuesdays, but these are bigger, so it's all good. We dined in so we got free chips and helped ourselves to the salsa bar. All of the tacos were really good. I wasn't sure that I would like the blackened fish taco since it was not battered and deep fried, but I liked it a lot. After some looking around on Yelp for some good Mexican food I stumbled across the Taco Grill in Westminster. Seeing the 4* rating, I decided to see if it was worth all the hype. I ordered a breakfast burrito, one of the staple items I order at Mexican restaurants. When the burrito came out, the eggs were good, but the tortilla and hash browns were brunt. It left a bitter taste with every bite. I told the chef and he offered to replace it. After a very short wait, the second burrito came out. It was much better, with nice crispy hash browns and tender eggs. I have to give credit for the customer service, the chef did a replacement with no complaints. A good hallmark of care for the customer. I want to give this place a 4*, but that first burrito shouldn't have come out of the kitchen. The customer service was good and the second burrito was also, but you shouldn't have to return food to get it right. Overall good food and friendly service. For starters it took a lonnng time to even order because the cashier was takin phone orders and that paused the whole ordering process for the 3 customers in line ahead of me already. Yummy yummy food and amazing service!! This place has great Carnes asada! They are very generous on their portions and the food is always fresh and tasty! The workers/owner takes great pride in serving you and great food and accommodating all your needs. Definitely try the carne asada tacos here and they have amazing menudo on the weekends. Had fish tacos and carne asada tacos, both were good. Seems to be run by a family. The service was fast and restaurant was clean. The outdoor seating area could definitely be enjoyed on a warm sunny day. I think they have a special price on fish tacos since the cashier was kind enough to remind me today they were full price. $12.15 for 3 fish tacos and 2 carne asada tacos. Poor management. Line is always long. They tell you to pick it up in 20 min when you order Togo via phone. But somehow you get there at the time they tell you and you always end up waiting additional 20 mins to 40 mins more, even though you called in a togo order. They can easily say it'll will take 1 hr instead of having people wait for their order in person. Especially with current Corona outbreak we really shouldn't have 15 to 20 people waiting for their food in a small restaurant. They need to be more prompt on their estimated time on when the food will be ready. Waiting an additional 50 minutes for an order that's should have been done in 20 minutes according to the person on the phone is not right. I do not recommend coming here unless you enjoy wasting your time waiting for your food. read more

Cute little spot on the corner of Heil and Newland. I was craving a burrito and glad I came here. First time I had a pastor wet burrito with both red and green and it was delicious and huge. Hubby got the CA burrito which I took a bite of and also enjoyed. The 2nd time we came I got carne asada, chorizo, and blackened fish soft tacos. I usually love chorizo but wasn't feeling it here. And the fish wasn't as good as I hoped and I've had better at other small and affordable places. But I would recommend the asada tacos if you're going for tacos. Personally I don't recommend their chorizo but it could just be me. I would definitely come back if I want a burrito though and I want to try their quesadillas. Plus I appreciate the chips they give during COVID since you can't grab your own right now, and they don't cheap out when they give you sauces to-go. Blackened fish tacos - ($1.50 each on Tuesday) - Above average - These were pretty good. Their tacos are much bigger than "street tacos". She said these were comparable to CA Fish grill, too. A bold statement lol. I'd say the tacos are solid here but you have more variety at CA Fish Grill. Carne Asada Burrito $6 - Average - I thought the Carne Asada burrito tasted okay, it wasn't anything special. The carne asada didn't taste that fresh, it was kinda rubbery/chewy. I would've preferred it to have more cilantro & onions. I think I probably should've ordered like 5-6 tacos like what everyone else was doing. TIPS: -Fish tacos are $1.50 on Tuesdays, regular tacos are $0.99 on Tuesdays (carne asada, al pastor, etc). Packed on Tuesdays. -Sauce bar, and the sauces are pretty good & spicy too -Free chips w/ order. Chips tasted average. -They serve beer. It's high time that I give a review for this place. I've been here 4 times & so far, food has always been good. It puts to shame all those fancy overpriced Mexican chain restaurants. 3 tacos for a little over $4 that tastes way way way better than say maybe Acapulco's. I especially love their carnitas tacos. Those corn tortillas are authentic & the carnitas are juicy & so tasty. Their burrito is also good but maybe not as good as Sabroso but it's still very good. I also like their salsa but I'm not a fan of their tortilla chips though it's very authentic as well. I guess my tastebuds is more accustomed to those cheap American tortilla chips. The service is ok but of course you won't be expecting a table side guacamole kind of thing. Overall this is one good hole in the wall that I will surely be coming back to whenever I get that taco craving. read more

This place is a hole in the wall spot in a small plaza in Westminster so don't freak out if parking is a little tight during the evenings (when I'm usually there). Lately it's been getting more crowded, which is awesome for business but a little longer of a wait for the customers. The wait isn't so bad because everything on the menu is made fresh upon order. The family that works here are all very friendly and speak mostly Spanish so I really like coming here (rather than deep Santa Ana for authentic tacos). I always get the BLACKENED FISH and the GRILLED SHRIMP tacos. I'm not really a pork or beef eater, but I know their carne asada is bomb and worth mentioning because that's what everyone else usually orders. The crispy tacos here are legit (fried on the spot) and comes with guacamole. The chips are free, and there is an awesome salsa bar with fresh cilantro, lime and cucumbers, pickled carrots and onions, jalapeños and 4 or 5 different salsas. Wife and I have been here (3) times for their tacos and this time I had a strong urge to try their crispy fried tacos with Carne asada and chicken. I tried the blackened fish, shrimp and al pastor tacos on this, my first visit. We started with an ice cold Pacifco and my wife had a cold glass of Chardonnay. I sampled the pickled carrots and we helped ourselves to the salsa bar. The beverages were made available quickly and soon our guacamole appetizer was upon us! The carrots were chilled and crisp but sadly lacking in flavor. The guac and salsa were good but the chips seemed cool and not super crispy. But, alas, we didn't come here for chips and salsa...we were here to enjoy tacos! The shrimp variety is a special on Thursdays so that choice was a no-brainer and I had read about the blackened fish....and well, the al pastor was simply because I was hungry! Walked in here with a group of 9 people, to celebrate a coworker's farewell, on a Wednesday afternoon. You place an order at the counter (credit cards accepted), and then find a spot to sit, after which the food is brought out to you in record time. I ordered the Al Pastor wet (both sauces) burrito, and although the meat itself was not as flavorful as I would've liked, the overall burrito and flavors were solid. Next time, I'd go with a different meat, and try without the Ranchero sauce to actually taste the meat. Staff was very friendly and attentive; overall good experience! read more
