My husband and I didn't know what to expect upon entering Taco Heads at the Ft Worth Stockyards. We were tired and hungry, checked out the menu, and decided to stay mostly because we were too exhausted to walk somewhere else. Let me say, staying was THE BEST decision! We spent the weekend at the stockyards, and this was by far our favorite restaurant! Our server was Abby, and she was extremely helpful and friendly. We really appreciated her patience with us, since we had never been there before. First of all, the menu doesn't list all items. We ordered chips and salsa (not on the menu), and omg delicious! Hubby ordered crunchy beef tacos, and I had a crunchy beef taco and a soft shrimp taco (not on the menu). The tacos were AMAZING!!!! We were invited to the soft opening of the new Stockyards location for Taco Heads. If you've been to a soft opening you know the goal is to stress test all aspects of the business with a "friendly " audience. They accomplished the primary objective. There were enough people to test the kitchen, bar and wait staff. What surprised me was how well everyone did. The management obviously hired seasoned staff. Food was excellent we tried the guacamole and sweet corn chips, shrimp tacos, brisket tacos, elotes, loaded nachos, and margaritas on the rocks. All the food was very good and the margaritas were great. We will be back to sample the breakfast tacos and try a few other menu items. read more

Came in on a Wednesday around 2pm. Not a busy Saturday or Friday night in the Stockyards but maybe a time when I could of caught them slipping, meaning not on their A Game like they would be on a more busier night. I was floored! I ordered the taco plate with three different flavors of tacos. I ordered the pastor, the carnitas and shredded beef with the charo (cowboy) beans. Some-of-a-bitch! Five doesn't even cover it. Amazing flavor, they looked appetizing and just all around delicious. The charo beans... how? Why? And whaaaaaaaaaat? I've never had charo's so tender and flavorful. Oh, I can't skip the service. I was at the bar and the bartender was so sweet, personable and made my visit awesome. Come, get some tacos and please for the love of GOD get the charo's! If visiting Texas, please do not think this is our version of Mexican food or Tex-mex. Ordered beef taco & beer braised carnitas taco with chips & queso. Although both tacos presented colorful & topped well with cilantro, onions & cheese- both taco meats were essentially flavorless until I added the hot sauce (sauce was great). Chips are thick with a cumin seasoning mix (wasn't bad). The queso was very chalky textured & thin. I couldn't eat the queso. It reminded me of a watered down broccoli cheese soup. I threw it out- which no one likes to waste queso. Will not try again when so many different options available. I had high hopes, but didn't work out. read more

Ansolute service I have ever experienced. Will never go back to see these assh0!3s again. Walked in at 1:30pm and was greeted with a "what do you want?" From a very tall man at the front door. Did I walk in when they were closed? I told him I wanted to grab some food and he tossed a menu in my direction and go find a seat when I asked if I could sit outdoors on a nice 72 degree day. Went outside and all of the smaller tables were still dirty although half empty. I picked a high top and waited about ten minutes before anyone approached me. Then another asshole told me I was going to have to move, "in case we get a larger group". I would gladly have moved if such a group materialized. But with as empty as this place was (no wonder if they treat everyone the way they treated me) what were the chances. Then to blame the dirty tables and poor service on understaffing. If the treat employees the same as customers, no wonder they are short staffed and half empty. This place needs to close its doors! read more

We came as a family for a quick lunch around 12:15 pm. We go to the Montgomery location quite a bit, so we figured it would be about the same length of time Our appetizer came out and the chips and guac were delicious as always. We ordered our tacos and thirty minutes later, still nothing. Someone then came out and said that they didn't have any chicken so what other meat would we like. We weren't given a menu or anything and just ordered ground beef out of feeling rushed. Our meal took an additional twenty minutes after the change in order. The ground beef ended up being cold and tasteless and our bill wasn't compensated all and the original chicken items were on the receipt, but we wanted out so we just paid and left. My husband asked for the bill right away as they brought out our items because we had to get going, and they took 15 minutes to grab it even though he voiced we were ready to go. I have eaten tacos all over mexico, USA, Texas, PR, hawaii and everywhere I find a fish/shrimp taco. Happy the place opened up near me as I needed some new places. This was very disappointing. Had the fish, shrimp and pastor tacos with side of elote and none was good. The tacos was filled with a sour pickled cabbage on all of them that was just gross. Took it all off. BIG mistake, our meal was a complete disaster! The queso was thin with very little flavor, and my $6 dollar (each) grilled Redfish tacos came out cold.
