Definitely disappointed with this place. Came on a Sunday for some good Mexican food, instead had some average food and horrible service ! Our waiter was talking on her phone and it took her 10min before she actually took our order, no pleasantries or friendliness. Second, the entire staff seemed to be talking and negotiating something, that they didn't even notice customers walking in, needing refills , and wanting to get their checks. One of the worst service I've ever had at a restaurant. The place is dirty and old, needs renovating. The food was bland, chips stale and over cooked. Good chill spot with a good kitchen. Didn't take advantage of the all day 2-for-1 drinks but that's another plus. Their Mexican-style Gorditas was tasty as were the seafood specialty tacos. Nothing fancy and the veggie taco was a little off, but I'd certainly go back anytime. read more

The food was prepared very well all fresh ingredients, the decor was very tasteful in a Mexican wrestling vibe. I had the west coast burrito and it was great, I have never had french fries in a burrito I have been missing out. Not that I needed it but I also got a fish taco that was one of the best I have ever had along with the warm chips and fresh salsa lets just say I almost had to be rolled home. I had the west coast burrito with steak and it was excellent. Everything was seasoned well and the tortilla was delicious. Chips were warm and crisp. Salsa was mediocre and my side of queso was not warm enough to be melted so it was more a little cheese dish with the consistency of grape jelly. That said I will say it is probably the best burrito I have had in the area. The two stars is not driven by the food and unfortunately I am not sure I will be back. The service was not good. The hostess was nice and seated me quickly but that was the end. My actual server was very uninterested in anything but standing at the POS machine hunched over staring at her phone or sitting in a booth on her phone. She spent more time on her phone than actually working and when she did interact she was unfriendly and basically a mute. I cannot stand servers that stand around on their phones at work not to mention that the phone kept getting put in her back pocket and pulled out, messed with, and then put back followed by then grabbing a lemon with her bare dirty phone hands and putting it in my water. Studies say your phone is dirtier than a public toilet seat so after you touch that don't touch my food! If a health inspector saw the phones out around food they would probably site you. On a side note, this place is next to the big mega church so if you find yourself trying to go here around any sort of church activity good luck. read more

Being in JAX for a conference, my friends who are locals recommended this place for tacos. Price was very fair $3-$4 a taco and you can choose between a flour and corn tortilla. I already had dinner before hand, so on their recommendations, I ordered a shrimp and fish taco. I really loved the flavor of both except that they were both really spicy! There probably should have been some kind of warning on the menu that indicated that. I'm not sure if it was a siracha mayo sauce that both tacos had, but I had some GI issues later that night. Also their guac was really delicious and their nachos were full of flavor. I would definitely return if I was back in town but have them put the sauce on the side so I can add it myself. read more

I was born and raised in San Diego, Ca and I have been searching for California burritos and Horchatas since I left. I am pretty sure I have tried every mexican food place here atleast once. I stumbled upon Taco Libre and checked the reviews on Yelp and had to try it. I would have to say this is the closest thing to socal mexican food I have had in the 6 years I have been here.. the west coast burrito with steak and fries in it is comparable to the California burritos at your local titos, i was looking for more grease and more cheese but it was still amazing! read more

Chips and salsa are nothing special. Not bad, but nothing memorable. Ordered 2 speciality tacos, the pesce (fish) and surf and turf (skirt steak and shrimp). The fish tacos were very tasty. Grilled fish with cabbage and fresh sauces. Very flavorful and light. Not too heavy. Surf and Turf were ok. Nothing on them except the meats and some avocado and sauce. Five stars! Decided to try this place based on all the good reviews, and it did not disappoint! The wait staff was very friendly, explaining some of the dishes and offering suggestions. My husband had the "Pick 3" platter- fresh beef & chicken tacos, with a large helping of rice and beans. I tried the Pescado (fish) taco on a fresh flour tortilla & the lengua (beef tongue) taco on a homemade corn tortilla. AWESOME!!! Don't knock it until you try it. Was looking for Mexican restaurant and looked at yelp and found this one! Were not sure what to think when we pulled into the strip mall parking lot but went in and wow what a pleasant surprise! We sat down and immediately were served with fresh warm Tostitos and salsa - which was just the right consistency and heat! We had many questions for our server who answered them all cheerfully and didn't act as if we were wasting her time. As for the food - WOW the tacos were killers - had the shrum and the surf and turf, my husband had the 3 choice platter with enchilada, burrito, and taco with rice and beans. Visited after reading reviews, and the food did not disappoint. My husband and I both had different burritos and they were delicious and too big to eat at one time. The alcohol drinks were also two for one pricing, so we both had delicious margaritas. The price is very good for the food and drinks. Ate here for lunch today. Fresh chips and salsa were brought to my table as I sat down, it was very good. This was my first visit and I ordered online via "Chow Now". You receive a 20% discount with the first online purchase! I ordered the West Coast Burrito which included grilled chicken, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, and refried beans with chips and salsa on the side. It was delicious! We've lived here for 2.5 years and finally found our go-to Mexican spot in Taco Libre. They have awesome specials. Taco Tuesday is incredibly cheap. They have awesome drink specials too. I always end up ordering from the burrito menu. They have a twist on burritos, I like my "westcoast" burrito with French fries inside! Very tasty, very filling and good prices.
