My husband and I dined in for a Friday dinner and we came at the perfect time, 6pm. No line and only 2 other customers were there. Once we ordered there was a massive influx of customers, it was great to see this place was so busy! I noticed there was advertising for a free taco on Mondays and $1 taco Tuesdays. This location is spacious and is kept clean. The music was at the perfect volume, you can hear it but it doesn't overpower your experience. Very much background music where you don't need to shout in order to have a conversation. The staff member that helped us was friendly and patient. We were undecided about what we wanted so it took us a few extra minutes to order. Once everything was ready it was brought over to our table. When dining in, you're provided a complimentary basket of chips and salsa. For my dinner I went with the 3 taco plate that comes with rice and beans. I chose the ground beef, paneer and chicken tinga tacos. Everything was flavorful and the portion was satisfying. The rice and beans continue to be a miss for me, but I continue to order it. IMHO the rice is way too bland. The refried beans for me tasty old. My husband thought they were fine but idk. I always say I'll stop ordering their rice and beans but then do it anyway.. I'm still pretty hopeful that eventually I'll stop thinking it's bland lol.

I had a wonderful time visiting here with my mom a few weeks ago. We happened to be driving through and stopped in for an early dinner and I'm so glad we did. My mom is typically not a fan of guac but gave theirs a try and fell in love with it instantly. The whole restaurant is a vibe, with beautiful murals all over the walls with butterflies. The day we were there, the ac had stopped working, and we felt so bad for the employees who were clearly feeling the heat in the kitchen. They kept apologizing to everyone for the heat, and you couldn't help but be struck how nice they were, even when sweating, and still working and cooking. The fajitas they made and fried ice cream were some of the best I've ever had, and I'll definitely be back for more.....I'm hoping they fixed the ac quickly!

Complimentary chips & salsa. Chips were over seasoned but salsa was warm and tasty.

This taco spot has the cutest decor which makes you feel like you're somewhere nicer and warmer than Illinois. I like that they serve you complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was warm and tasty however the chips were overly seasoned with what looked like seasoned salt. I ordered the two taco plate and a drink and so did my Mom. Their grilled chicken taco was good just a little dry but having their self serve salsa bar helped! Their carnitas were decent even though there weren't cooked well done as requested. Their rice was just ok and the amount of beans they served was very little compared to the rice. I tried quite a few of their salsas. Their mild avocado one was very runny and tasted like water. My favorite was the salsa verde. My Mom liked the jalapeño one the best. Overall, the meal we had was kind of pricy at over $40. I might go back but only if I make it during their lunch special hours of 11-3 so that the price I pay feels like it matches more of the quality I receive.

The space is warm, welcoming, and very clean, with plenty of room to dine comfortably. There's a steady flow of customers both for dine-in and carryout, which is always a good sign. I tried the cauliflower tacos and the chorizo--both were flavorful and delicious. The salsa is fresh and served warm, and I really appreciated the salsa/taco sauce bar. Every sauce was tasty without being overly spicy, and the bar itself is well maintained--never messy. Overall, a fantastic spot for great tacos in a pleasant environment.

I decided to get the signature torta and fried ice cream on this past visit. The signature torta is a good size especially when you get it with the meal. The bread was soft but not soggy. Generous amount of meat inside. The fried ice cream was not too sweet, you eat the ice cream with that bread underneath. The fried ice cream itself has a nice texture. It doesn't melt right away like regular ice cream.

Chicken Tamales $4 tasty but dry with thick corn meal, used salsa bar to remedy

3rd visit each time service is less delightful; tasty chai tea is only $1 but it is also maybe 6-8 oz; salsa bar is nice feature so you can turn the heat up to suit your palate

Best Al Pastor tacos in the Chicago Area. Have tried them at multiple locations and they're consistently delicious regardless of which location i visit.

Steak Tacos and steak burritos were excellent. Fast service. Open late. Eclectic Korean tacos were surprisingly tasty.

Great food! Great prices and clean establishment! We stopped by around 8 pm on a Thursday and it was empty, which should not be the case! The food is amazing quality! And the free chips and salsa is a great touch. Dare I say their burrito bowl is better than chipotle! Highly recommend!!

This is the 3rd Taco Maya location I've been to and I'm here for it! The food tastes the same at every location and it DOES NOT disappoint. I had my usual shrimp and signature taco, while my daughter enjoyed her steak. Literally everything tasted the same which is great quality control on the owners part. I would definitely not call this an authentic joint, but it's not a chipotle either. Their tacos are different and in a great way. I can't seem to venture out to the other tacos, though I've had friends who've had the pork belly and several other and they are equally as good. You get what you pay for. They are not small tacos and their produce tastes really fresh. And as same with the other taco mayas, it is clean and have really great service. Whenever I've walked into one, I'm always greeted nicely by the workers and even noticed that the workers make a concerted effort to say goodbye to people leaving. My only complaint is that their menu is so large that it's hard to see in their screen, wish they had some paper menus. Otherwise would definitely recommend and will keep coming back.

1st time here. Got the lunch special 3 tacos for 9.99. Comes with chips and warm tomato based salsa of you dine in. The salsa was ok. The chips were tasty, they have some type of seasoning on them that's interesting. The special comes with rice and beans and they were standard. As for the tacos they were nicely prepared. Overall it was ok. Will try different tacos and update.

As a…read morevegetarian, I was excited to try the restaurant because of its extensive selection of vegetarian dishes, and it definitely gave me plenty of options to choose from. Our server, Ximena, was outstanding. She took the time to share the story behind the restaurant's name and the inspiration for its cuisine, which added a personal touch to the meal. She was friendly, attentive, patient, and never made us feel rushed, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. The Queso Fundido was absolutely incredible. It arrived at the table bubbling hot and perfectly melted. We paired it with corn tortillas, which complemented the rich, cheesy flavor perfectly. That was definitely the right choice! For my entrée, I ordered the Poblano Rajas Burrito, prepared suiza style. It was a unique dish that I enjoyed, although it wasn't what I would consider traditional Mexican cuisine. In hindsight, I would have skipped both the mushrooms and the potatoes. The potatoes, in particular, changed the overall flavor and took away from the more authentic experience I was expecting. The rice inside the burrito also wasn't traditional Mexican rice, but it was still flavorful and well prepared. Overall, I had a lovely meal at Fonda de Paula and look forward to returning to explore more of their vegetarian offerings. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend stopping by and giving them a try.
