My first time here today. Line is super slow. For every 3+orders received from customers in line, only 1 customer received their take out order. Total wait time for one order of taco plate and one burrito = 40 mins. My order of chicken taco plate came with 3 tacos, rice and beans. Mell's used white meat, minced and very well seasoned. Each taco was well portioned and topped with freshly chopped onions, cilantro and just the right amount of cheese. All fresh and super tasty. The spanish rice was also well seasoned and just the right consistency. Same with the black beans. Overall, the chicken taco plate ($9+tx) was very delicious and hit the right spot on this Tuesday evening. My husband ordered a chicken burrito and it was gone in a hot sec. Burrito was very filling and delish per hubby. Quality of food is easily a solid 5 stars. However... I took off 2 stars because the lady cashier, male server and male cook did not wear their masks correctly and at one point, the male server had his mask under his chin while calling out numbers for customers to pick up their food. The lady who took orders/cashier also served 2 customers that did not wear masks even though a sign was posted for customers to be masked. I took off another star for all the past Yelp reviews posted online that clearly shared concerns about how the staff at this establishment are not wearing their masks correctly (i.e. exposing nose parts or wearing mask under their chin) By ignoring and going against public health guidelines and requirements for this business to continue to operate, it's loud and clear that this business does not care about COVID19 safety of the community that comes out to support them everyday. If I put my hard earned dollars in your business when I have other choices to go eat, the right thing for Mell's Taco to do is to support the health of their customers as well as their staff. If you haven't already, come to Taco Mell! That's right TACO MELL NOT Taco Bell . This is a black owned store front on Crenshaw and homeland that sells Mexican food. Flavorful Mexican food at that! I ordered the famous "three meat burrito" and it was immaculate. It is stuffed with shredded chicken, steak and shrimp with rice, beans, cheese, pico and whatever other fixings you want to add. It's about $14 including tax which is reasonable for a delicious burrito. Every bite had a bite of all three meats and it is the perfect meal after work. They have tacos, burrito bowls, quesadillas and more. I came around 5pm on a Tuesday and there was no long line or long wait at all. Perfect timing for those In a rush to drop by for a quick dinner run. I heard the have food trucks as well. They have an Instagram page that shows amazing photos of the menu items and this establishment does not disappoint! I was even more excited to find out they are on door dash so if you don't have time to stop by in person you can order on the DoorDash or postmates app. I'm a USC student that stays on campus so it's a major bonus for me because I can order online.
