This is coming from a non-Hispanic who loves Mexican food. Let me start first with the waitress and host where wonderful. The food not so much. Had carnitas that was almost all fat with little meat. The retried beans had no flavor and where very watery. I don't understand why there are so many positive reviews. Very authentic and delicious! Gringos are welcome as the menu is bilingual. Staff was very friendly and polite. Place was quite clean and ample parking available. Had the torta sandwich and it was excellent. One person had the breakfast tacos and raved about them. Another person had the beef fajitas and said they tasted like something way more expensive than $1.75 or whatever. Good selection of sodas in the fridge and the salsa bar contains many delightfully HOT salsas as well as mild ones. Great place for a lazy weekend meal! Plenty of outdoor seating. Goat Tacos. So tasty. Most of the tacos are $2 each and loaded with meat. There's a salsa bar, which is unlabeled, but plenty of little cups, so grab samples. The salsa that comes with the free basket of tortilla chips is absolutely excellent (and it's got a delayed fuse, so consume slowly unless you thrive on burn). My dining partner had a chili relleno stuffed with cheese; he said it was pretty good. While the goat taco was very nice, I also had a chicken and a 'fajita' taco. The chicken was a bit short on flavor, but plenty moist, and no chunks of fat or bone. The 'fajita' taco was dry beef, and no grilled onions or anything to distinguish it as a fajita-style taco. Both of us got flour tortillas, and if these are store-bought as another reviewer suggested, well, they're the best damned store-bought tortillas I've ever had. They tasted homemade to my anglo palette. Corn is also an option. My dining partner said he came here frequently for breakfast tacos, because he's usually vegetarian and you can get bean & cheese tacos. So I can't comment on the egg ones. As far as I know, there are no vegan options, and I don't recommend trying to get something special ordered unless you are decent at Spanish. Either know the Spanish names for dishes or be willing to spend time looking them up online, because menu items do not include explanations, only descriptions of extras. I think the worst thing about this place is that the lighting sucks after sundown. Some weird dim blue-spectrum fluorescent stuff that is hard to see in and hurts my eyes. They have Mexican sodas in a fridge unit if that's your thing. Will definitely go back when I'm in the area. read more

When I say underwhelmed by Austin tacos, I'm talking about authentic street style, bare bones (meat & cilantro) tacos - not fusion or modern or unique tacos...so don't judge me too harshly. Taco More is seriously one of if not the best taco spot in Austin. My personal faves are the carnitas and pastor. They do have a self serve salsa station which is more generous than a lot of taco places honestly. They have like four different salsas, limes, grilled jalapenos, different styles of onion, beets, and other fixins to add to your taco to your liking. Surprised this place has such a high rating! Other than there salsa bar there is nothing that great about the food here. Bistec tacos are always super chewy and they barely put any cilantro and onions on them. Don't even ask for dessert since they apparently are always out of everything except gelatinas. This place use to be great not sure what's happening to it... maybe to big to handle? read more

OK so i read the reviews about this place and any comparison to the REAL tacos in Monterrey really needs to stop. I have family in Monterrey and visit 4 or 5 times a year and this place doesn't even come close. Matter of fact this place is not even the best taco place in Austin. Terrible place. Wish they had a rating system like other states to keep people and restaurant owners in check. The restaurant is dirty, the salad bar is mixed up with people dipping the hot sauce spoon into the mild sauce etc. Taco meat isn't fresh, Torta de milanesa, dripping in dark over burned oil and the menudo was horrendous - never had worse! Really dig Taco More. While the pastor is pretty good, the carnitas and goat are out of this world. The soups are fantastic. The salsas are fresh and the selection is outstanding. I was told by a co worker that Taco More had the best tacos, she grew up in Mexico so I trusted her opinion. I'm sure she's right but as a chino from Pflugerville, I'd say the tacos were good, but not great. The moist, greasy, flavorful tacos I had from the El Taquito truck when it was on dirt roads on Riverside were great. Enjoyed both breakfast and steak tacos at Taco More, will certainly be back. read more
