Thank goodness there is a place in Austin that serves up some cheap tacos! When I first came here, looking at the outside, I asked myself, "Is this place safe to eat?" All of those feelings changed when I went inside and was amazed by the ambiance and the speed of service! The people are nice and friendly and they mostly speak Spanish (so be ready to pull out some Spanish out of your pocket or just read off the menus what you would like) I have had a good variety of tacos such as the lengua, barbacoa, bistec, pastor and the chorizo. They all taste really good! The salsa bar in the middle of the restaurant complements the tacos really well. (Beware of those hot and spicy ones!) Good advice: eat some there, and take some to-go! The food had no flavor. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food this is not the place! I got quesabirria and had no flavor it was missing Sazón (flavor). My mom got the mojara and had no flavor what's so ever. The rice and beans were like canned food. I also got the horchata and it was super sweet with a lot of cinnamon. Excellent Mexican cafe! They have some menu items that I haven't seen (or at least noticed) at other similar joints. Prices are super reasonable, dare I say cheap, and the food is super fresh! I had the chorizo sope and carnitas sope. They looked small, but they were packed with meat and toppings. I almost couldn't finish the second one. They have a condiment bar which I love, because it allows me to get as much as I need and mix and match. The service was friendly and the waitress checked on us about once every 10 minutes or so. I was pretty bummed about leaving behind my favorite Mexican joint, Taco More on Parkfield & Rundberg to move 12 miles down south. That was the case until I saw TACO MORE in the familiar bright red sign as I drove down Riverside on move-in day. A couple blocks from my new place, I was ecstatic for such a convenient surprise. Upon my first visit, I was impressed with how well kept this location was in addition to how packed it was. The salsa bar was always well maintained and everything filled to the brim, which was not always the case at the North location. Yet, with a surprise so perfect, something had to give. When it comes to their tacos, they skimp on the meat. The tacos at their North location was always loaded with meat. Here on the East side, the tacos just seem...less. If I could make a conjecture, I'd say they're cutting back on the meat to cover for the fancy brick and mortar. But overall, after having sampled all the other Mexican options in this area, this Taco More is still one of the best in quantity and quality. Yes, young padawan, you really can have it all here. This is the south location of Taco More. The original being located north on Parkfield Dr. Same good food, friendly service but in a much newer, bigger establishment. I've eaten twice at this location and it has to be one of the best meal deals in Austin. This time I had the milanesa torta and consome de pollo. The torta was good, only complaint is perhaps use a slightly bigger (not thicker) slice of meat and more lettuce and avocado. Other than that it was tasty. I ordered a cup of consome, expecting a typical restaurant cup serving but at Taco More they use the same large bowl for all three servings (cup, medium, large) but vary the amount. Their cup serving would have been a bowl in any other restaurant. The consome had plenty of chunks of chicken, some Mexican rice and garbanzos. All in all, very good, a touch salty, perhaps they used too much chicken boullion or salt. To wrap up for $9.75 before tip, I had a milanesa torta, a "cup" of consome de pollo, iced tea, chips and salsa. Good food, great deal! read more

I heard great things about the food here. I was taken aback by the nasty attitude I received when I came to pick up a to-go order. The hostess was rude and intentionally careless which was confusing because it was the very first interaction we ever had. Because her attitude was so nasty I was afraid that something would happen to my food, but I never ate the food oh, because of the roach that crawled by me while waiting for my food. I would highly recommend that the health department check this location out. read more

Today I give this place one star. I was very upset with how things went today. First of all they have gone up significantly in pricing, but things are tuff all around so I just roll with it. My issue is that I put in 2 orders for pick up. Two beef steak tacos, and two Quesadillas totaling $17.48. Like I said before, I know prices have gone up, so no problem. She gives me back only $2, keeping my $0.52. "Ooookay???" I say to myself. I asked for 2 salsa servings for the orders. She says, behind you. I explained that I only like the salsa you get for free when you dine-in. She says it will be $1. I told her I've been coming here 7 years, I have never been charged for the salsa. I give her the dollar anyway. She comes back with one. I told her I needed one for each order. She says, $1 more. I told her, "how are you going to charge me $20 for two $3 tacos, two $5 quesadillas, and $2 for the salsa you get for free if you just sit down and eat. I didn't ask for chips to go with my order. And you didn't even give me all of my change back." She gives me back my $.52 and takes my $2. I am seriously thinking of never going back there. And I always tip 20% or more. * B E W A R E * This place is ripping off consumers. I called in an order, one which consisted of their "Quesabirria Plate". They served the Quesabirria Plate without any rice or beans. I went back to the restaurant letting them know they forgot the rice and beans. I spoke with "Sarah" who told me the plate did not come with rice and beans. I explained that their online menu shows different. She was adament that it did not come with rice or beans. (She went on to show me their in house menu which showed a lesser charge and did not come with rice and beans.) I told her to look online and she would see it did and they charged $3 more, which is what I paid. She would not budge. Long story short, they are advertising menu items online that is not included in your meal. You will pay for food you will not get. Yes, this sounds redundant, as it is only RICE and BEANS. But, thinking of how many times they may have pulled this number and no telling with how many other orders... it won't be so redundant anymore. It's a ripoff. To top things off, when I asked for a receipt, she said no receipt was available. My favorite place on Riverside to get tortas and tacos. The service is super fast and I can always count on my food being delivered quickly. Not everything in their menu is good but I never have an issue with the tortas and tacos. Micheladas are delicious and they have a non alcoholic version with topo chico which is bomb as well. I was looking for some authentic Mexican while in Austin and I'm so glad I came across Taco More. I stopped in to place a to go order and it was ready in a matter of minutes. I did a variety of steak, chicken, chorizo, and carnitas. The steak and chicken were by far the best tacos I've ever had. They are served on fresh corn or flour tortillas and include cilantro and onions. I wish I was in Austin more often as I'd make this place a stop every time I'm here. read more
