I was so excited to come here after I attended the Yelp Elite event last week! I was raving to my friend about it so we decided to grab dinner! We ordered the noche de la passion , guac , chicken tacos & elote. The drinks were just as good as I remember but the food lacked taste & were super small portions. Only 2 tacos per order & the elote wasn't on the cob - it was some kernels in a little pot which I found odd! Falda a la Parilla, the skirt steak, was the perfect cut of meat with the best chimichurri sauce. And finished off dinner with some fried Oreos! Nice char on the octopus, mole sauce and salsa worked well. Sopes de Arrachera was delicious. Very tender rib eye with great flavors from the salsa verde. Corn masa base makes for a great finger food. RECOMMEND Agua Chile was a nice mix of sweetness from the shrimp with a little heat from the peppers. The tacos in general are a bit smaller than what I was expecting. They come in pairs. I placed two orders per person (4 tacos each). Carne asada taco came with two slices of marinated rib eye on a flour tortilla. One of my favorites. RECOMMEND Pollo taco - chicken nicely seasoned, not over cooked, remained juicy. Nothing special. For dessert (no menu), we got the Tres Leches. Flavors are a bit subdue, nothing special other than the presentation (see photo). Service was a bit mixed. Started off strong. Ordered some drinks and apps which came out timely. Was checked on a few times. Server disappeared for quite a while after everything came out. On a high note, free bite sized appetizer (see photo) and free shots at the end. Overall, pretty nice vibe, okay food, okay service. Prices are a bit high for tacos in Astoria. Unexpected gem on Steinway. I believe that this place is relatively new since I haven't seen it before when I used to live by Steinway. The exterior is beautiful and has a very gothic feel to it. When you go inside, it follows the same aesthetic with its dark décor and dim lighting. There were dark velvet couches in the front by the bar for more casual drinking. To get to the back of the restaurant to their dining area, you have to walk under a flower entry way that has a neon sign that says "Taco Dirty to me". We got sat in the back and I was stunned by the décor and beautiful design of the place. The walls had a very dark and textured wallpaper (which I couldn't help but touch). There's a large skeleton / grim reaper in the back wall is an amazing looking art piece. I can go on and on about the décor of this place. You just have to go yourself to see. We ordered 2 cocktails, the noche de pasion and the agua fuego. The noche de pasion was great. I love a frozen drink and if you like mezcal and passion fruit, you'll like this drink. The agua fuego was less strong but still tasted really good. It's a great light drink for the summer with its cucumber and agave flavors. The menu is simple and doesn't have a lot of options, which is what I prefer. We ordered the quesadilla and the pulpo al pastor (grilled octopus). The grilled octopus was delicious. It was very tender and nicely flavored with a mole sauce and pineapple salsa. The quesadilla was outshined by the octopus. We obviously had to get tacos since this is a taco place. We got the pescado and the al pastor. The pescado was the grilled mahi mahi fillet with a mango salsa. It was very tender and flavorful. I actually preferred it over the al pastor (pork + grilled pineapple) which is usually my favorite kind of taco. For dessert we got the churros. It came with a chocolate dipping sauce and ice cream. The churros were really crunchy and the chocolate sauce was nice and warm, perfect for dipping. The ice cream was a very small portion and and didn't really taste that creamy. It also came with a strawberry with nuts. The music is pretty loud in this place so it was hard to hear the waiters. The bathroom is nice and clean. Came on a Friday night for a drink and dance. This gem is really sexy, it's dark with hints of red light. The dj played all genres so it had great vibes. There's a bar upon entry and in the back theres couches and dining tables. Great ambiance! Service was quick my margarita was delicious. Highly disappointed, seems like they can only handle a small crowd or a lounge where people are buying bottles. Cant handle large crowds for dinner. The interior is so beautiful it's like el dia de los muertos! I had the passionfruit marg which was pretty strong for the portion of the cup! I think it was a generous amount. Since I'm vegetarian the staff had no issues making proper adjustments for me! I'm also allergic to avocado which they also had no issues adjusting the orders to be customized for me. Visited the location on a weekday for dinner. It was super cute as soon as you walk in. While it is a dim lighted space there is a variety of influence of día de los muertos in the art work displayed. While they asked for a reservation upon entering, it wasn't as issue for sitting. There was plenty of seats in the back even though they placed little reserved marks on it. I understand the look of trying to make it "exclusive" but there were only about 5 people as guests and more staff present. Alas it is what it is. Upon sitting the waiter was attentive and seemed to really want to push the guacamole. We didn't have the guacamole this time. We ordered an appetizer, the pulpo, and two different kinds of tacos. The drinks were a peach and a passion fruit margarita. The drinks were tasty. The tacos ended up coming out first and the pulpo followed a while later. The tacos were delicious! The pulpo, which is a favorite dish for me to order, was simply alright. The music was good, a lot of dance beats. As we were finishing dinner, someone came over and alerted that we can order hookah. We did not, I am also someone who does not smoke hookah so that isn't something I will be able to offer a review on. I'll go back to visit and will try another of these delicious tacos. read more

Excellent new Mexican spot in Astoria! They have happy hour on Tuesday (deets below). The chef is from Mexico and has made a very tasty modern menu with items such as grilled octopus and oyster mushroom tacos. I tried the recommended appetizer, Sopes de Arrachera. (Corn masa topped with ribeye) This dish is for fans of ribeye, meat is cooked to perfection. The corn masa had soft texture but was crispy on the outside. Altogether one of the best Mexican appetizers I've had. For drinks, they have an array of mezcal and tequila cocktails. Wish they had something stirred like other cocktail places. Maybe an option for pitchers would be great to attract private parties or happy hours. Otherwise I'd give the drink menu an A. On Tuesday, for borracho hour (drunk hour) these are the prices: $10 tacos, $10 don julio shots, $10 margarita. The tacos are fairly priced; two tacos for around $11-14. The decor is beautiful. Came here for a date night and the place itself is very nicely decorated. It's small with a Dia de los Muertos vibe going on... dim lighting, dark furniture and skulls. We ordered grilled octopus, wonton tacos, spicy shrimp tacos and grilled churrasco that came with warm tortillas, rice and beans...everything was absolutely delicious. The food itself was top notch. The drinks have an overall nice presentation. My husband ordered La Diabla- it was very sweet and weak .. total waste. I ordered the spicy marg.. it had a little kick of spice and overall it was just okay. The jalapeño salt on the glass was not okay. I've been to many Mexican restaurants and have had amazing margs and drinks... this place lacks in this aspect. They have a drink "Santaria" I believe ... it's served in a skull (not oversized) and they light it up with fire .. and charge $30 for that. This place charges city prices. I was shocked when I saw the bill and we were charged gratuity for TWO people. I didn't say anything because regardless I would of left the same amount. Overall, the food was delicious but the drinks were just okay. They're serving Mexican cuisine....they need to tone down their prices,. Where do I start. Margaritas were amazing and were 10 dollars during happy hour. At first glance you think the tacos are a little pricey but once you bite into them you know it was well worth it. It was tender and had the perfect texture. The toasted pepita mole sauce went well with the octopus. I enjoyed it a lot. My issue was the music volume was so high. It was hard to hear what the staff was saying. Considering the area, it's a bit more expensive than other restaurants. Overall, I had a good experience. The service was great. So perf! Hey Yelpers! Honestly, K found this place off tiktok n insta so I was hesitant... but loved every minute here. Showed up for a 5:15 res and left 3 hours laters but boy did we order as much as our belly's could handle lol! What more can you ask for? This place is super INSTAGRAMMABLE, not to mention their playlist is pure fuego! Check your receipts! They added tip on our check even though we were only 4 people . We only had 1 drink each because we found our bartender outside flirting, so we couldn't even get an extra drink. We left because we couldn't find her to order, and when we realized where she was, we asked for the check. She finally came in when called by her other friend inside the bar and gave us the bill, and added the tip without letting us know. That's unacceptable. Isn't it supposed to be tipped to be added for 6 or more in a group? Also, if you're going to do that, let the customers know at least. We didn't realize until days later.
