I hate leaving bad reviews but this place is not THE PLACE. I got a veggie a taco and they said it'll come with rice and beans which was not the case pace. I asked for it and got it -- fine. But then, I took a bite and the guac is brown....... Don't go here if you want fresh food.

This was my first time trying Taco Verde after seeing a reel on Instagram promoting the restaurant. Although the space is small, it is well lit. We decided to take our food to go, though, due to the limited seating as we had a toddler with us. We waiting a while for our food, though no one else was in the restaurant. My friends and I enjoyed sharing the Birria Pizza and churros. The horchata is a must get drink!

You can tell from the flavors of the food that it is made with love and care. I really enjoyed their queso birria tacos, which were packed with flavor. The birria consomé also tasted like it was made with a lot of love and was super delicious. Their rice and beans were fresh and tasty as well. I also enjoyed their salsas, which packed a lot of great flavor and heat. I'll definitely be back for more!

We stopped by after having lunch in the area, and we ordered: +the Strawberry Cream Cheese croffle - topped with strawberry-flavored cream cheese and freeze-dried strawberries (the description actually state they were fresh strawberry slices, so this would need to be updated) +a Strawberry Matcha Latte +Orange Jasmine Yakult +and, a Pineapple Creamy The croffle itself was okay; it was slightly chewy and may have been stale; wished it would have been served hot. The drinks could have been steeped longer and prepared better, as they were watered down. The place is cute, and there's limited seating inside. There seems to be consistent to-go/pick-up orders. We got: Ramen: 9/10 I got to try a new ramen that I normally do not get. I added an egg and radish ($1 each for toppings) the ramen I picked is the Jin seafood version. The noodles are nice and chewy with a good amount of spicy. It also has dried crab bits added! Boba: 10/10 we got some strawberry boba and it was delicious. The tapioca here is always perfectly cooked with good chew to it. The owner/shop worker is very nice! She gave us two waffles on the house. The ambiance is a really cute shop perfect for dates or boba chats. We would for sure be stopping by again for late night boba cravings.

The first was for a St. Patrick's Day party, where I had ordered a tray with 2 pounds of cookies. When I arrived, I noticed that the tray didn't have St. Patrick's Day cookies, just regular cookies. The owner was the one waiting on me, and when I mentioned this to him he apologized immediately, said there must've been a miscommunication, and asked me if I could wait five or 10 minutes and they'd make a brand new tray for me. It probably would've been okay if I took the original tray, but I knew our group really wanted St. Patrick's Day themed desserts for this party of about 40 people. So I said sure I could wait, and the tray they put together was absolutely beautiful. Besides the cookies, it also included some little plastic St. Patrick's Day themed rings and other decorations. Fast forward to last week, when I was tasked with bringing the dessert for a monthly board meeting. I called and again spoke with the owner, and explained what I needed. I thought it would be fun to bring some holiday-themed items, and I had seen a picture of their Yule logs on their website, so I inquired about those. We chatted about it, he asked me the type of cake and filling, I also ordered a 1 pound box of cookies and a gluten-free cupcake for one of our members, and I picked them up before the meeting two days later. Everything was absolutely perfect. Their Yule logs are beautiful - mine looked exactly like the picture on their website - and again there were little rings and other decorations on it. One of the other board members was so impressed with it that she immediately said she was ordering her own for the holidays and took several pictures of it, and everyone asked me what bakery I used. Oh, and the cookies and cupcake were great, too! I have a feeling they'll be getting some more business from our group from this for sure, as they should!

And ever since I don't work downtown anymore, I needed to search the northwest burbs for the best chocolate cake. There was always this franchise (Portillo's) that served their famous chocolate cakes by the slice. It was moist and really good. And they remained the best one for such a long time since I really couldn't find any worthy competitors around the northwest burbs, until I saw this tiny shop along Waukegan road-Ganache Bakery. I had to go inside and see what they havd to offer. The word Ganache alone was enough for me to seek em out. Lo and behold, they had Chocolate Cake with ganache icing inside! It was soft and moist and melted in your mouth! I was in heaven! Finally, a place I knew would supply me with the best chocolate cake worthy of any grand celebration. Unfortunately, after the third and fourth purchase, I noticed that it didn't taste the same as the first time we had it. It wasn't as light as the initial experience. It was actually a bit heavier, more dense. It was still moist but, it just wasn't the same anymore. Oh well, the search is back on.

I hadn't been since their renovation and made it there last Thursday. It was really cute ambiance - I loved the interior designer's work. The place has options of seating - inside and outside, ranging from metal chairs to comfortable upholstered benches. We got the tom kha to begin with, which my husband, who's not vegetarian, devoured. It was truly delicious! We then got the Kung Pao with mushrooms and it was incredible - the flavors, the choice of vegetables, the sauce - all of it! We also got a chow mein but with rice noodles - this was the one dish that could take some improvement. Granted, the original recipe calls for wheat noodles, and that might be really good, though our rice noodles version of it was came out soggy. Our server had clearly had a long day - she was tired and forgetful (didn't bring us rice and we had a hard time flagging her down to request it). She also just brought us the check after dinner, without asking if we wanted any dessert. All in all, highly recommend this place for delicious plant-based food.
