While traveling from Florida to California I decided to stop here in El Paso for some authentic Baja Tacos. Being from California I'm very picky about my tacos and I must say Taconeta didn't disappoint. It was right off of the 10west so it didn't hurt my time. We got there around 6 and walked right up to the window and ordered 2 carnitas, 2 pollo, a Baja shrimp, and a Sudero, an elote and a Mexican coke. $31. We ate inside where it is nicely decorated with modern pop Latino art style. The elote was amazing as good as I've had from vendors on Santa Monica pier. The tacos are street taco size in blue corn tortillas. All the food had Cojita cheese. It was all delicious. Had a Baja zing to the taste but not overpowering. The carnitas were my favorite but all were delicious. The customers seemed somewhat hipster but that's ok. Hipsters need good tacos too. By the time we finished our food there was a line of about 20 people outside so we got there in perfect time. I loved it and if I ever drive through El Paso again I'm stopping for more. read more

These tacos remind me of when I lived in Austin. They are delicious tacos. We enjoyed the suadero, baja fish taco and avocado. Plus we also had the aguaschile. We enjoyed our food with a good margarita. We will definitely be back and I would recommend try it at least once. The only problem is that your tortillas come out cold. I'm not sure if they sit too long in the back or because it's cold in the there but our tortillas were a little cold. I hope ya'll can keep them warmer and bring them out fast to the customers. We stopped in on our way through El Paso, and it was a great find! Daniel at the counter was super helpful, and served us some great margaritas! We loved our tacos and grilled elote. These are awesome tacos, honestly you can't go wrong with any choices you make. They do have options for the kids if you want plain tacos with just tortilla and protein or you can have a small cheese quesadilla. If you are in a jam and can't decide the shrimp and fish tacos are bomb or you can stay the vegan route and get the mushroom and cauliflower taco both are superb. This idea is super cool but I'm truly not a fan...although, I always hear people raving about this establishment. To order you go to the little window by the parking lot and order- The menu is located on the glass written in marker. The two things I like there are the suadero tacos and the pineapple carrot mezcal margarita both are great, but that's it for me. The tacos are a bit small, street tacos if you will and a bit pricy. The mezcal marg is already pre-made and the glass is rimmed with a tajin/salt rim. I love this margarita and want to replicate. Other than these two things and the view these are the only factors to keep me coming back. I will try again and hopefully better than the first few experiences. read more

I walked up to the outside window and almost felt like I was in a Mexican Mercado. The music was humming, the food smelled wonderful and at the window they had all the bottled sodas lined up for you to choose. Or you could have a choice of different drinks, patrons seemed to love the different margaritas. My choice was the Jarritos orange soda. And then we ordered. And ordered some more. The Suadero tacos. Baja fish tacos. Chicken tacos. Fried green beans. And of course the Elote in a cup (you can also get it on the cob). The place was busy, the staff was so friendly and our food came out so fast. It was delicious!! The rustic blue corn tortillas were soft and fresh. Yum. The Suadero (brisket) tacos were so flavorful and packed with meat. I also had the fish tacos and they were wonderful. The fish was in chunks not strips, fresh cabbage and sauce. Green beans were plentiful and wonderful. And I can't say enough about the Elote. Sadly I started eating it before I took the picture otherwise you'd see the mound of queso fresco and limes, enough for two people. But I ate it ALL. Was already planning my return dining experience. Taconeta is a weekly dine in for me and my wife, we've been coming for over 2 years and the quality is always consistent. You have to order on the side window, for lunch you might have no issue but later for dinner it is a bit slow since not too many tables open up. There's maybe about 8 taco choices and sides. I've tried them all and none are a bad choice. My usual is the Baja shrimp, carnitas and teofilio. The tortillas have that authentic taste, the fried shrimp is always perfect and the slaw is great and not overpowering. It all mixes together perfectly. The carnitas is tasty and has chicharron grounded for a different texture and the teofilio is grilled spicy shrimp with melted cheese which always hits the spot. My wife is a huge fan of the grilled sweet potato and mushroom taco as a vegetarian. We also share the tempura greenbeens which are amazing. I could go in about the Aztec salad or the shrimp or avocado tostadas but it's best to try for yourself. And if the food wasn't it the ambiance is also great, very modern Mexican I love the vibe here and later at night the music comes in and the lights dim down for a completely different experience. read more

There's been a lot of hype about this place, which it definitely lived up to. It's a true dining experience from the order window, patio and interior decor, damn good food, and even the music. I ordered the aguachiles, Baja fish taco, and the suadero. The tacos were packed with flavor and I can't decide which one I enjoyed more. The aguachiles were a great way to cool down from the blazing temps. Plenty of good beer on tap. They squeeze their lines for margaritas and other drinks, which I'll have to try next time. The service was a tad bit slow but not without care (I'll add that it felt like lunch rush time while I was there). Taconeta also makes their own ice cream--vegan!--and it was pure heaven on a sweltering afternoon! The only downsides are very limited parking in the area (which they really cannot control) and having to wait in line to order at the window while temps are reaching 100+. Ummmmmmmm, these tacos are so good that it's hard not to insert a curse word in this review. I've had this place saved in my bookmarks and on the night we couldn't figure out what to eat I opened my bookmarks and bam! We ordered the Suadero tacos (brisket) baja fish tacos, carnitas taco and pollo taco. We also ordered the elote' and grilled sweet potatoes and tempura green beans. Needless to say we spent about $50. It is pricey for those small tacos but oh so good. Out of all those tacos the brisket tacos are my fave and hubby agrees. It was so tender and flavorful. It didn't really even need salsa. The elote was ok. The kernels of the corn was so small and not plump. I was missing that pop of the corn. The tempura green beans were so addictive and that sauce was amazing. The grilled sweet potatoes, highly recommend! The combination of flavors are an unlikely pair but works so well! I mean , you've got kale chips and pumpkin seeds with an aioli? It definitely works well together and delicious! If I was to put in order the tacos I loved the most it would be for sure the brisket as first, second the pollo, the baja and lastly the carnitas. If you got some extra cash to spare, try this place.
