I was starving by the time I arrived at the Indy airport and needed some quick food to fuel me up. After looking on my trusty Yelp, I found Tacos 46 which was 10 minutes away from the airport. Boy, am I glad that we ate here! When we arrived around 9:30pm, there were a few diners ahead of us in line but we didn't have to wait long at all. My fiancé and I ordered a variety of pollo, pastor, and carne asada tacos. They give you a number and then you sit down anywhere to wait for your food. Maybe 5-10 minutes later, our food arrived along with limes, radishes, onions mixed with some type of spice and vinegar, and sauces ranging from mild, medium and hot. The guy delivering our food warned us that the hot sauce for the tacos was VERY hot, and my fiancé being the spice fanatic drizzled that one all over his tacos. He absolutely loved the hottest sauce but was also dying from how spicy it was. I could only do the mild one along with some of the spiced onion mixture. The tacos themselves were freaking amazing. It tastes like they make the tortillas in house and it just tastes super authentic. My heart loves authentic, street tacos and I was so happy to have found this place. One weird note, the pastor tasted a lot like char siu, or chinese bbq pork. Having eaten a lot of char siu growing up, it was interesting that the pastor tasted like that! So far, so good. Once you walk in, it seriously feels like home. The host was super kind and offered great advice on what's best on the menu. She was right on all levels. I must say, her temperament was ideal for the restaurant. She created a very welcoming vibe and contributed greatly to our fantastic experience. This is authentic stuff y'all. I had the pastor and I hummed all the way through. These were delicious. They had the right about of savor and all the great flavors. This was a Mexico City original, y'all. I don't know what it's called, but if I were to nickname it, I'd call it lip burner. The space is warm and open. There's plenty of seating for small and large groups. The service is quick, so you won't be hungry for long. I find these tacos affordable based on the amount of meat packed into the double soft corn tortilla shells. It's a full palm-filler. She understood exactly what we were looking for and guaranteed we wouldn't be disappointed. These are authentic Mexican tacos!! Each bite took me back to Mexico City. These tacos are stacked with meat, cilantro and onions. Every single bite had flavor. As I'm writing this, I wish I had more. I pre ordered on the phone line and paid upfront which they always do . They told me the order would be ready in 10 minutes so I arrived around 10 minutes the order was not ready and not even put in to make in the kitchen. I had to wait around 20 minutes there . There was no people or anything that would make it busy it was empty. I would of gotten past that expect I ordered a torta. The torta meat was not cooked properly it was rushed too cook.not only that but it wasn't even cut. I saw how they just got from the fridge put in the pan and didn't even tempted to cut it. I ordered a torta de asada so I was expecting a torta with cut meat. Overall I do not recommend this place . It has not been the first time they do not cut something just to rush it out the kitchen the other time I ordered a type of taco that has pineapple and I got three chuck of pineapple instead of the normal cut up pineapple. I will definitely not be back or recommend this place . It's not what it use to be like. To start off, I wasn't going to write a review but after I visited the immaculately clean restroom, I decided that more people have to know about this place and eat here. So, the restrooms are so clean and I was so amazed by it that I mentioned it to the owner. By the way, the owner introduced himself to my colleague and I and welcomed us to his restaurant. One of my favorite taco places in the city! This place is such a little hidden gem off of w 38th st. Authentic tacos and other Mexican foods that are fresh and tasty. The tacos are my absolute favorite. I've had the chorizo, chicken, steak and al pastor here before and all are very good. Chicken can sometime a a little on the dry side but the fresh lime juice and salsa helps that comes with the order helps. I love all of the extra garnishes that they also provide, like the radishes and the habanero onions. The green and red(very spicy) sauces are made in house and fresh and delicious every time. I fell like you get a lot of meat compared to some taco places so this is a great bang for your buck! My only complaint is that they can have long lines sometimes and it can take a while to get your food, it that's when you know the food is good too!
