Yes that's right!!! 5 stars from yours truly AND my hubby. The tacos are authentic street tacos so they are small but they are packed with flavor. Salsa bar is on point most times. I love the pastor and chicken tacos. He loves the tripas and menudo (which is only available on weekends till it runs out so get there early! It was gone before noon yesterday!!) The Aqua frescos are delicious as well and I've recently started ordering the pinto beans with a bit of cheese. Pretty damn good. We absolutely LOVE our little neighborhood Taquería and come often. This is your place if you love authentic hole in the wall restaurants. Do NOT let the interior and/or location if this spot deter you from stopping in! These tacos are not only insanely affordable but taste better than any high end restaurant or street taco joint we've tried since we've moved here. Their toppings bar was well stocked and the sauce options are amazing..but spicy, so be careful! I tried the carnitas, barbacoa and chicken tacos topped with onion, cilantro and both the green and red sauces. The carnitas are nothing short of incredible! Each dish comes with a jalepeno, cucumber, radishes, and carmelized onions. I can't wait to come back and try a few more of their meat options! Found this place when wife was out of town. I ordered menudo (pork stomach) and barbacoa plate. Both of them tasted good and with good portion. They came with your choice of corn or flour tortilla. Returned the second time with wife and daughter who ordered tacos (fish and porta). Daughter was a little disappointed that there was not pineapple in her porta for some reason. Nevertheless, the food still tasty. I ordered a burrito with porta (no pineapple either) and loved it. Restaurant does not have many seating areas, just 4 - 5 bar stool along the walls. Most of its business was takeout. It is great to know this place that serves authentic Mexican food. read more

These tacos remind me of the street tacos you can get in Tijuana. They are just outstanding! I got the carne asada tacos with the guacamole salsa and they were amazing. Yum! Yum! Yum! A friend referred me here and said it was the "best Mexican food in Colorado." Whehhh weee, big pants to fill! I have to agree this place is amazing. Really flavorful meats in their tacos and burritos.... something sweet about the meat? Salsa bar is muy bueno, and gringos if your uncomfortable being the only English speaker around, prepare to be immersed in Mexican culture. They call numbers in Espanol but our counter guy who we ordered from did speak perfect English. And did I mention, affordable! We paid $13 and some change for lunch plus a Mexican soda. Hands down best Mexican food I've had in Colorado. Coming from Cali it's been a struggle finding decent tacos. I'm impressed and definitely coming back. I really enjoyed as excited to try this place since it was rated so well in its reviews. Unfortunately I did not enjoy the carne asada tacos not the Lingua taco. I did really enjoy the refried beans and rice. Having eaten both authentic Mexican and Tex-Mex at least once a week whether at home or on the road, I found it to be less desirable. It's hard to find decent street tacos at a good price point. Sometimes I just want a street taco that is cheap and has no extra frills. Well look mo further, Tacos Aya Yay is you're solution. I wish I have taken pictures of the food but honestly, it was gone within the blink of an eye lol. I had pastor tacos, chicken tacos and a pastor torta. I visited recently within the first week of August, when I walked into the shop I saw the cash register kid and he was wearing a cross and the Santa on his wrist. When I saw this and you I was in the right place. As I placed my order I could peek into the kitchen and low and behold I saw two Nana's in there whipping it up. My heart melted and my mouth salivated as I knew that I was in for a treat. I ordered tacos de tripa, tacos de pastor, and Tacos de carne asada, and gorditas de chicharron. The tacos were so tasty! I was very happy that the trip was crunchy. The gorditas were a different style then I know them but we're just as delicious. The chicharon was cooked in a green chili sauce which was phenomenal was nice Tangy with and just the right amount of heat. I only tried the hot salsa at the salsa bar as that is how I judge Salsa's at a restaurant is by their hottest one and this did not disappoint. By the time I left I was sweating and my heart rate was elevated. I even took a few more tacos and a gordita to go. The restaurant itself is fairly small but welcoming and resembles that of any legit Taco Shop. I've eaten a lot of tacos coming from the southwest both in the states and in Mexico by no means am I a taco expert, I make my judgments based on some very simple things, are the tortillas homemade, does the food taste canned or homemade, is the salsa hot, does the place sell horchata. It passed all my requirements. I have eaten at the Yelp number 21 spot which is in Arizona and this Taco Shop completely blows away number 21 when you're specifically talking about tacos. how Casa Madrigal came before this place I have no idea. If you are ever in Lafayette Colorado please give this Taco Shop a try they seriously are delicious read more
