Best tacos I've had in awhile! Loved the customer service & vibe of the restaurant. I ordered pastor tacos on corn tortillas, delicious. The salsa bar has the normal options & is well kept. Bummed I don't live locally or I would definitely come on regularly!

Wow!! I was craving tacos and decided to stop by, and I'm so glad I did. Everything was so delicious and hit every craving perfectly. The horchata was amazing. It was not watered down at all, totally worth the $4.60, and the cup was HUGEEE. The carne asada mulita was incredible, and I highly recommend the carne asada in general. We also tried the cabeza and al pastor, and everything was seriously so freaking good. Service was quick and efficient, and the space is surprisingly large with plenty of seating. You order, pay, and then sit wherever you'd like. You can also get however many sauces and sides you need at their little stand. Definitely recommend and will definitely be coming back!

Tacos on point, if you want some where fast that has great tacos and Mexican food try this joint. Out Go to when we are in the area, great lunch break stop. Inside dining, taco toppings bar soft drinks available. Service is good helpful fast.. chill vibes not dressy, casual dining.

Delicious food, felt very authentic to me due to the extra effort. Pictured is the family pack which my friends split 4 ways. They really enjoyed it. They also offer nopales (grilled cactus) tacos which my vegetarian friend ordered. The food came extremely quickly. I got 3 street tacos and a horchata. The horchata was delicious, it tasted like a milkshake. There is a self serve station with 3 types of salsa and toppings. There is chunky pico de gallo looking salsa which was really good by itself, green hot sauce, and a dark red salsa which is very spicy. They also offer cooked (grilled then steamed?) jalapeños. There are many seats and the staff were great. The inside has quirky posters and a few arcade games. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We were in the area and when we searched food near me Tacos Calafia came up! Can't go wrong with tacos!! It's in a good plaza! New location it said, so we decided to try it! When we walked in it's nice pretty large inside and clean, I liked the mural on the wall! The only reason I gave it a 4 is because the employees set the stage for the customers especially when you order before you sit down! And well The girl who took our order was not very friendly ,she didn't really try talking to us about anything on the menu, for it being our first time in there I guess I expected a little more friendliness or professional hospitality! We loved the salsa bar, fresh and great! They had jalapeños and onions heated in a nice area near the salsa bar. The food was quick to come out and tasty! Everything we got was pretty good! I will go back when I'm in the area!

Best grilled burrito I have had in a long time. Carne asada was actually tender and the portion was generous. I've been back 4 times (even though I live between TUC & PHX) and it's been very consistent. I usually am a taco kinda person, but I keep getting the burritos for the flavor & value. Also, it never feels like I'm getting old food, if you know what I mean. Theyve got quite a bit of fast food style seating, clean interior and a really nice salsa, onions, etc.. bar. Overall a fun place for lunch or casual dinner. Good for families, too.

I'm always on the lookout for fantastic Mexican cuisine, especially tacos and burritos. I am glad I found this one, there's not a big selection of these places in the area. They have authentic meats and a great salsa bar with free grilled onions and jalapeños in a warmer next to it. Friendly staff and the restaurant is nicely appointed and clean. Fantastic!

Mediocre Tacos so I am Grateful They Were Free! Stopped by for free taco day with my boyfriend so we can't complain too much since they were complimentary, but honestly, the tacos were pretty average. I chose the chicken/pollo..'no flavor..also the corn tortillas were MID! Nothing stood out flavor-wise, and the tortillas and toppings were just okay. We got a choice of beans and they were watery so we returned them and were issued a refund despite being told we couldn't get one Still, appreciated the gesture of Tacos Calfia tacos and the chance to try them for free!

Ordered a burrito online and clicked option for no beans. In the special instructions section, I also typed "no beans". Of course the first bite of the burrito had beans in it. Tortillas were mediocre at best, and food was super bland.

This place really has some excellent quality tacos. Every meat I tried was excellent obviously the standout was going to be the ones shaved off of the trompo! Don't sleep on their protein bowl, which includes Spanish rice that is super flavorful. There salsa are pretty good and they even have grilled onions and pepper. The family meal deal is very affordable and feeds a lot of people. The space inside is very spacious and it can fit a large party easily plus multiple other large parties.

This is their newest location that recently opened in Gilbert. A Phoenix original that has expanded. It's suppose to represent the tastes of Tijuana, Mexico. As growing up near the border in San Diego & crossing over many times to experience the night life and the food, this missed the mark in my opinion. The tacos were average and by no means would you call them "out of this world" good. Also they're really small more like a street taco and the meat could have been more seasoned! The chicken as far as flavor was the best. The nachos were over $11 and disappointing in portion and in taste as well. Generally, (at other mexican places) it's definitely more than enough of a serving for two to share. Not here. The cheese was the canned orange stuff yet the fresh toppings from the salsa bar gave it a boost. Meat was per cooked, then fried and dry! The hot salsa bar was nice. Great inviting station. Many options to chose from including fried jalapeños & sautéed onions. Service is fast and efficient. Restaurant clean Prices were too high for the quantity served. Doubt we'd return. Haven't honestly found anything here in Arizona that would compare to the amazing So Cal Mex!

Went thyr with empty stomach,was hoping to cure the that emptiness. I did get full but not gona lie,my only thing was the street tacos . I've ate street tacos all my life my only complaint was why only one tortilla for the taco,if you're charging what you want for street tacos they need to be 2 tortillas sorry but i spent $40 buks 2 burritos 3 no complaints on the price. But come on 1 tortilla for $3 doesn't add up to me. Salsa bar was nicely stocked.

I have a friend in town visiting from Texas and she was in the mood for tacos and after looking up good taco places, we settled on Tacos Calafia. We were not disappointed at all! First observation was how clean the place was! It was bright and open and the counter and all the tables were clean. The salsa bar is amazing, everything looked fresh and clean: The staff was very friendly and explained the menu to us. The tacos were good but the frijoles were amazing! Seriously whoever makes them absolutely knows what they're doing! My only constructive feedback is that they use plastic folding chairs and real chairs would elevate the look and feel of the place. And - my personal peeve though: the flimsy plastic ware. Plastic ware matters - itty bitty flimsy forks, knives and spoons just don't work. read more

Don't go here save your money. The lady that took out order took the trash out and came back didn't bother to wash her hands, she was rude. It was our first time coming here we are very dissapinted. The food was very bland no Flavor and the horchata didn't taste right. read more

Our first visit here and immediately noticed the workers cleaning and helping the customers with their orders. We ordered the corn soft tacos of cabeza and carne asada nachos. As soon as I had one nacho, my mind just wandered off into foodie paradise. The nachos were fresh, hot and flavorful - WOW. There's just something so wonderful when you have a simple meal that you can tell that some real effort went into. Everyone in the restaurant seemed to be happily enjoying their meals as well. I remember going to this place almost every day back in 2021 through 2022 because I lived right next-door to one and I suggested that they add rice and they never have because they're beans aren't that good of a side so it's best to pair with rice. Today I came in on national taco day and they were giving away two free tacos, which was awesome and very much appreciated by me and my partner. We both got the two tacos, and I ordered beans with the cheese, once we received our order, I took off the top to the beans. I noticed it was too runny and watery and it didn't mix well with the cheese so I went to take it back and the lady told me I couldn't get a refund because I already ordered and I told her I definitely can get a refund which I proceeded to do. The tacos were OK, I didn't taste much seasoning or smoke from the meat but overall they were OK. The Horchata is really good, which is a plus for this place. My review is 2 stars because I had to return my beans which made my food cold and I just didn't enjoy the meal from the start since it came with bumps in the road. I am about to go somewhere and order a bean and cheese burrito and call it a night. read more

As always this is my wife and my FAVORITE taco spot! These tacos remind us so much of our favorite place in Cali. The mean is so fresh and so tasty! The tacos are filled and not skimpy on the meat. The chips are so crispy and so fresh!! The beans are so hot (temperature wise) and so flavorful! They are my go to when I'm sick. I also love the onions and jalapeños you have access to. They are so flavorful and fresh. Love love love! The staff is always so kind here and the restaurant is spotless! Parking is super easy to find! Tacos Calafia is an authentic Tijuana-style taqueria known for their tacos. We came here on a Wednesday evening for dinner which wasn't horribly crowded. The interior is beautifully decorated and clean! It was our first time and I ordered 3 tacos (homemade flour tortillas) with carne asada, al pastor and chicken. I got a side of the frijoles prepados: cup of pot beans with carne asada. The fixings bar is generous with guacamole, 3 different levels of spiciness salsas, charred jalapeños and onions, and more! For dessert we had some of their paletas! Will definitely be back in the near future since they are along one of frequented commutes. Muy excellente y delicioso! Cinco estrellas! read more

This place is 5 stars for quality of food, service, cleanliness, and the "taco bar" offerings to go with your order. I have to drop a star though, for menu offerings. I'm a tough customer if I try to fit all dietary needs of vegan and gluten free. We were on vacation and I pretty much threw it all out the window, and sticking with "just" vegetarian. So, I saw nothing for vegetarians with say, beans and rice with some sauteed peppers and onions? Nope.. wasn't on the menu, but I finally just asked if they could do beans, rice and cheese. She said yes and that was that. I asked for other options and was told there weren't any. So, you know I wasn't going to ask for GF options too LOL That said, my boys ordered "Street Tacos" and the other a "Quesadilla" (he wanted veggies too).. they both loved their entrees and all the salsas from the taco bar. We all agreed with the chips and guac, that the guac was one of the best we've had. One son doesn't like chunky guacs so he enjoyed it, while the restt of us just loved the smooth flavor and freshness. The quality of ingredients is on par. The cleanliness of the restaurant is too! We loved the outdoor patio so our pup could take a nap while we ate. Just update the menu a bit for vegetarians and you have 5 stars from me! read more

Fantastic place! I've come here to pick up food for other people several times - the food is always waiting, the place is always clean, and the employees are always friendly. I finally decided to order food for myself today and not surprisingly, they did not disappoint! Got the Cabeza Power Bowl, a quesadilla and beans - everything was excellent. I could tell the place was a hit by how often I pick up here, and it's very easy to see why. Good food. Tacos are decent- we tried the chicken and Carne asada. They come plain in the tortillas and you have to dress them with salsa, onions, cilantro, and guacamole. The nachos were really yummy-with nacho cheese, not shredded cheese. If we're in the area and in the mood for tacos I would stop by again for a quick bite. read more

I was severely disappointed. Saw this place on tik tok, I was excited to try. The staff was RUDE!! Went on a Saturday, the place was empty. The carne asada had no flavor, the tacos don't come with onion or cilantro you have to add it yourself and the salsas were spicy but had no flavor. The tortillas were cold and if you wanted two they charge extra for that. The only reason I'm giving two stars is cause my husband said the el pastor meat was ok. read more

The tacos were really flavorsome. The meat combine with the toppings and lime made it seem like it was like any other beef taco. So after eating all 3, I ordered 3 more...After the first visit, I went back a different time to try their burritos. On the other hand, the burritos were very pricey...I ordered a beef tongue burrito which ran me about 20$....but, they are packed heavily. The beef tongue had a consistency like chicken which I like. But sometimes some of the meat had a rubbery texture. Everything I ate there was very delicious as I could taste the quality. I think this spot is authentic as it has great portion sizes however, I do think it can be pricey. Would I come here again? Yes, but just for the tacos.
