So I wanted some tacos and didn't feel like driving downtown..so I wanted to see what yelp had to offer...and let's say Tacos Calafia was pretty good. Good staff and great customer service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place was clean and decent.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the family meal. 10 tacos, 2 quesadillas and a cup of beans. Delicious. Thank you Tacos Calafia! Make sure you yelpers try this place...and don't forget to load up on the sides because if you don't. Your tacos will not be suited for deliciousness... Until again yelpers....

When I see Al Pastor on the vertical rotisserie (trompo), I'm sold. I was even more sold on the house-made flour tortillas! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was busy on a Wednesday afternoon but no one in line. When I got to the counter, another 10 people came in so I just beat the rush.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered 3 flour Al Pastor tacos and three corn Pastor tacos. They came in a nice tray and were ready in about five minutes after ordering. They don't put any garnishes on the tacos itself. Instead, they have a salad bar type set up where you have to put gloves on and package your own garnishes. The Al Pastor itself was very tender, but was really lacking in flavor. It also didn't come with pineapple, which I was hoping it would to give it a little bit more flavor. We ate the Al Pastor without garnishes because in our past experience, it hasn't really needed any. Next time, since it doesn't come with pineapple and was flavorless, I'm going to add a bit of lemon and cilantro. The flour tortillas were really delicious. Having tried the corn tortillas, I was very happy that we opted to try the flour tortillas since they are made in house. The tacos themselves are not your traditional street tacos that come with two tortillas. They come with one tortilla are probably about 15% larger and also thicker. Customer service at the register was just OK but customer service at pick up was great.

Great Tijuana style casual quick serve tacos - like you are at the beach. Nice margaritas and Micheladas. Salsa bar has toppings for tacos. You can request onions, jalapeños and consume with you meal. Fast wonderful Mexican food for the whole family.

Loved this place. How affordable it is, and there's the salsa bar, which is awesome. I got the mulita al pastor, love the cheesy goodness but not as big as a quesadilla so that was a win for me. They serve Tijuana taqueria style food. Get your drink filled from the soda foundation then walk by the sauce, condiments, and yum cart. I got 3 chicken tacos and the carne asada nachos. Oh man, yummy! I am on the fence with this place... service is good and easy.. plenty of room in there.. food comes out fast so those are all good. The guacamole is not guacamole at all.. not sure what it really is but that's not from an avocado. Maybe we need to try it a second time to see which way we vote...

I came from socal, home of the best tacos so this place did not impress me at all. Asada meat was bland, pastor was just whatever, cabeza had good flavor, but they served the tacos with cold tortillas. They didnt even heat the tortillas on the far grill...disappointing. i like that they have a nice salsa and condiment bar jut overall it was just meh. Best tacos: cabeza. Ask them to heat the tortillas! read more

These are the best tacos I have ever had. We ordered 2 of each taco. Carne Asada (Grilled Steak) - Perfectly cooked. Nice char on the outside. Perfectly seasoned. Al Pastor (Spiced Marinaded Pork) - Very nice smokeiness to the meat. Reminds me of smoked ribs. Pollo (Chicken) - Packed with flavor. My favorited of the 4. Cabeza (Beef Cheek) - Very good. Least favorite of the 4 options but still great. Really can't recommend this place enough. read more

Definitely a nice place to grab some lunch. The atmosphere is nice and quiet. There is a self service bar to grab all of your sides and I enjoyed that most. Many selections to choose from and fresh avocado. I purchased different tacos and a quesadilla. The tacos were light on the meat and the quesadilla was very light on the cheese. Not sure if it was just that time, but I'll be trying it again. read more

California has the best taco. There, I said it. But if you are in Peoria, AZ and want some great tacos this is the place. Menu is right what I'm use too. Easy, simple, tasty I got the Asada and Al Pastor on corn. The meat was super tender and had flavor The salsa bar was super clean. The whole place was very clean twice I saw them sweeping up at two different times. That's always a great sign about a place. I think they make the chips there. I'll need to ask. You order first then sit. But the food came out fast and hot. Everyone was super nice. They serve a few types of beer and fountain drinks but a have a few Mexican Sodas in bottles. Top marks. Delicious tacos, mulitas and vampiros! My boyfriend and I tried the al pastor and carne asada. I think I liked the al pastor a bit more while my boyfriend liked the asada a bit more. What's also fantastic is that there salsa bar is self serve and you can have as much as you like. I really appreciated that they ask all customers to wear masks and wear provided gloves when getting salsas and toppings from the salsa bar. Excellent and safe! read more

The food never disappoints! The pastor with pineapple is amazing. The Jamaica is delicious. The asada has flavor. This place is on point. The service is good but they need to put the air on. This is AZ! The ambiance is casual dining. They have a salsa bar. The radish is good with lemon and salt. This place is light. Prices are great. read more

Tasty food. The restaurant requires you to wear masks when you enter. You must also use disposable gloves (provided) when getting condiments from the condiment bar. A few outdoor tables are available for eating outside. Employees are all wearing masks too. I would definitely go back. read more

Amazing no frills street style tacos. I tried carne asada, Al pastor, cheeks, pollo. Portions are on smaller side. Ended up eating 4.5 tacos. Maragaritas were ok, but very good price especially on thirsty Thursday 2 for one deal. Would definitely recommend. During COVID they have their sauces in Togo containers which is great!! read more

Man...the food is excellent!!! Their Nopale Tacos are the best I've had! Usually some places under season them but this was excellent!! The staff is awesome and friendly! Delicious food. We had chicken tacos and nachos with cheese and beans. No lard was used, food tasted healthy and fresh. Unlimited salsa bar with guacamole was a bonus. Casual place, informal, nothing fancy but the food was good and inexpensive. read more

Thế food here is so disgusting I do not know what people are raving about! The tacos we got had guacamole on it and I swear it smelled so bad like the avocado was rotten... we did not even finish our food and just ended up throwing everything away... what a waste of $50 do not recommend this place! read more

FIND THIS PLACE TODAY - TACO TUESDAY. This is what it's all about! I just love - love these Tacos, I highly recommend eating here, especially on Tuesday, discount day. I had three tacos, all were excellent. Steak, chicken, and carnitas. They also have traditional Mexican beverages, but I went with universal water. LOL. read more

We went here for breakfast burritos based off the good reviews and they were just ok..Kinda bland. I was disappointed after seeing the high score this place has. Also, I ordered a drink and she didn't tell me the Diet Coke wasn't working which was lame when I already had my cup that I paid for and saw that. read more

I came here kinda late on a tues night and it was pretty busy. You order at the person behind the stand that looks like a host stand. The menu is simple and good. I got the al pastor taco and carne asada quesadilla which came to about $8. The al pastor was kinda dry but the carne asada meat was excellent. One of the limes was dried out. The quesadilla had a ton of meat, onion, and cilantro and was very filling. The quesadilla comes with grilled onions and a grilled jalapeno...perfectly complemented the quesadilla. They have 3 salsas: green, red, and a very spicy red one. The staff and service here are quick and prompt. No complaints. read more

No mask no tacos! I am absolutely addicted to this place if you're looking for an authentic taco restaurant than this is the place. The salad bar is straight up simple, And that's the way it should be. All the necessities nothing extra. I was raised by Puerto Ricans in Chicago and I will tell you that I am specifically picky about my street tacos Because of it! If you want to have mama's cooking, But just in another place. Ate here recently, poor attempt at Mexican food. No flavor, very white washed. Similar to Chipotle with range of choices, burros, tacos, nachos with chicken, beef, carne asada. The redeeming factor was the salsa bar. Red/green/guacamole and onion/cilantro combinations. Pricing was mid range. We will not be back, the pricing was NOT on par with the lack of quality. Also, being in AZ, there are far better options. read more

$10 nachos were a bust. The cheese used is cheap queso. I'm pretty sure gas station nachos are better than what they serve here. I got my food to go and asked for my nopales on the side but I ended up not getting them at all. I didn't realize this until I made it home. I was able to get a refund due to not getting my correct order so that is a plus they made it right. The portions of tortilla chips and cheese was very scanty for the nachos but the good news is you can order salsa or guac and chips for $1.99. That did not disappoint. Al pastor burrito was pretty tasty but are on the small side. Pros: salsa bar was stocked & fresh. Chips and salsa or guac was worth it! Cons: I probably would never order their nachos again & would probably have to get two burritos next time instead of one. Extra star in my rating since they made up for the nacho faux pas. read more

After going and celebrating a Halloween bash for my kids me and the family came here for dinner. The concept is really nice I like how you can get the salsa the guacamole onions but the food itself just was decent. It is not horrible food I mean I might come again but it wasn't the best taco ever. My whole family got tacos and I got a chicken quesadilla and then we kind of shared. Now you can't really go wrong with a quesadilla. But I guess I wanted more flavor in the chicken. Like I said not the best food in world but a decent area to eat and the seating is not to bad and the price was actually good. read more

Oh my! The tacos are freshly made and the tortillas are hand made. Even though they are always busy, food comes out fast. The only reason why I don't give them 5 is because their salsas are lacking authentic Mexican flavor. Hope they can improve the flavor of their salsas. read more

So this is a very unique review. I havent seen anyone else really speak on this...So I dont know if this was an isolated case, or there are other people out there that this has happened to. So here it goes.... My son, daughter in law & 2 yr old granddaughter went on a Monday, when they have All You Can Eat Tacos for $14.99. They place their order for 2 people All U Can Eat, 2 beers & asked if they can order 1 taco A la Carte for their 2 yr old. And the young girl working the register said No, you have to pay 14.99. (Who in the world is going to pay 14.99 for a 2 yr old to eat ONE taco??) So my son told her "No, I just want ONE taco for her." And the girl said "You HAVE TO pay 14.99 then or she cant sit with you guys at your table." My son asked to speak to a MGR and he came and explained the situation. And the MGR said they could have the All U Can Eat tacos, but the daughter could not have any of their tacos. And my son said "that is fine, I will buy 1 taco a la carte." And the mgr said she would have to sit seperate, so they can keep track of whos participating in the All U Can Eat special. ***Who in their right mind is going to allow a 2 yr old to sit by themselves?? People are trafficking kids, abusing kids, raping kids and they want my 2 yr old granddaughter to sit alone. NOT!!! My daughter in law expressed her concerns as a mother, that she was NOT sitting seperate from them. After some more exchanged words, the Mgr agreed to allow their 2 yr old sit with them. But he was going to be watching them. (Like their in prison or something WTH) On top of that, the girl forgot to give them their beer and when my son went up for them, she gave them attitude and he told her he just wanted his beer he paid for, that she forgot to give them. I was going there every other week, and I have not been back since this has happened. Which was about 2 months ago. I know, its been a while, but I have a life. But also thought this would be informative for some people wanting to have dinner with their children. **Tacos Caliafa, Shame on you and your mgmt, cashiers!!! This world is full of sick people, out there stealing children and selling them on the blackmarket and you want your "customer" to sit at different tables than their 2 yr old children. Figure another way to keep track, or how bout sell them a pinche taco a la carte!! Best taco place in peoria as I always say. When someone asks me where to get fairly cheap food that is worth the price, I always tell them Tacos Calafia is the place to go. The carne asada is perfectly marinated, it has almost a slightly tangy orange flavor to it, the al pastor is as well just as amazing as the carne asada. The pollo asada is as it should be, have a slight crunch from the crust on the chicken. The cabeza also follows suit with it being juicy, it just needs a little bit of salt to amplify the flavor. If you're not a taco type of person, they do have other options, their quesadillas are just as good and they are also $5 cheaper than your local Federico's quesadilla when they are pretty much the same size in comparison. They do have other options but I unfortunately wasn't able to try them. When you receive your order, they have a salad bar available for you to load up your tacos. Their guacamole as well as their salsa are absolutely amazing and if you can stand the heat, I highly recommend the red salsa because it has an amazing flavor unlike most salsas where the heat just takes over and completely ruins the meal. My husband and I were craving Mexican food when we came across Tacos Calafia the other night. Found them on Yelp with 4.4 stars, so we gave it a shot. Walked in at 4 pm and there was already a line, but there was a salsa bar by the door which was a nice touch. The place was pretty spacious, not much in terms of decorations though. We noticed an order machine by the pickup area, not sure why no one was using it, but we tried it out and our food came out super quick. We got tacos, a quesadilla, and nachos - all delicious. My husband, who loves spicy food, said it was legit. They also have a breakfast menu, so we're planning to go back and try that out soon. Some of my favorite tacos in town. Tortillas are always supple and hold all the juices from the tacos, fresh toppings to go along with delicious proteins. I can never complain anytime I pick up some tacos! read more

Love the tacos from here. They offer a whole salad bar of toppings you can add to your tacos and they cut the meats fresh and cook them pretty much right in front of you on the other side of a half wall. read more
