I tried the prickly cactus for the first time in my life and was surprised at how well it complemented the asada meat, melted cheese, etc. I shared with my friend, Chooksty, who ordered the torta sandwich with pollo and I thought that the crunch to the toast was at optimal level. I also liked the horchata because it was a level of sweet that was not too overpowering, but sweeter than any horchata that I had before. A very good balance between the sugar sweetness and that cinnamon complement because typically horchata made quickly on-the-go can have too much of one or the other. the restaurant had a big black chalkboard at the head of the restaurant with the names of the orders and their respective prices. this makes it easier for incoming guests to have a look at the menu before they order at the kiosk. they also had a colorful mural of the background of an elote paletero, which reminded me of home. it made my heart very warm to see something like that while I was on my way to the bathroom I will say that the $0.23 that you must spend for each slice of lime is crazy. And to pay extra for salsa on the side when taquerías usually have it on the side for guests to grab as much as they can finish was disappointing to have. I wish that there was more leniency in how much more you wanted of condiments/etc because that is unlike any taquería that I have seen whether it was a chain or a lone mom-and-pop shop read more

Ok, as someone who grew up with LA tacos this might be the closest you'll get to an LA taco in Seattle. Loved the huge pineapple chunks but it definitely needed more onions and salsa - if possible I would ask for extra condiments at the register before they bring your tacos out. Not sure if that request will be approved but definitely worth a shot the next time I'm in town :) My favorite taco was the taco chukis (think it's adobada with cheese?) Service was friendly and fast, think I was eating within 5 minutes of sitting down. Bathrooms are located outside and there was a key! Pretty clean looking toilets. read more

Fantastic. Went twice. The steak mulita and taco chukis were our favorites, but you really can't go wrong. The adobada quesadilla was fantastic as well. We were surprised to love the cheese based options in particular, since we're typically interested in more "fresh" (not cheesy) tacos, but would definitely return for more. May compete with our favorites in San Diego (e.g., Oscars, Taco Shop) but of course in a different style. Lived up to the hype and more! I had yet to find a street taco place in Seattle that satisfied my need for those I could find in LA but now I will be frequenting Tacos Chukis. A hidden gem (literally, it's kinda hard to find from the outside), my friend shared a place with decent Mexican food during my visit to Seattle. It's super casual and they have a kiosk to order at where you can pay and take a table number. The food was solid with essentially different ways of preparing the meat you like whether you're in the mood for a quesadilla, mini burrito, mulitas, or tacos. I ate here twice within the same day and I was not upset whatsoever. The time to deliver food is pretty quick and already comes with sauce/limes. It also did not break the bank which is always a plus for simple, delicious food. You go outside into the building, then walk up the stairs to the 2nd floor to find this restaurant tucked away. They have a bathroom which needs a key they require an ID for (just to prevent theft). Overall a solid place and I'm sad I probably won't get to visit again unless I'm in the state of Washington. read more

This place is pretty darn good. 8 of us walked up the hill from downtown based on a recommendation. It was a hit Sunday evening. No AC, it was busy, and it took a while. But, the tacos are cheap and authentic. Spicy and delicious. I had the torta and the beef and guacamole was fucking awesome. Be patient. When I brought it back (nicely, I knew it wasn't malicious), the guy at the counter told me I was wrong and I had ordered beef (he got kind of defensive and emotional about it) and refused to refund this 5 dollar item. Weird hill to die on but okay. I definitely did not order beef. Vegetarians of over 20 years don't just suddenly forget and order beef. And I'm sure it was an accidental misunderstanding but wow. I first tried Taco Chukis over 5 years ago and it's still as popular and good as it was then. I stop by almost every time I'm in Seattle. We ordered with the kiosk so we didn't have to wait in line, but it took over 15 minutes for our food to come out. Worth the wait though! We all got the Taco Chukis. It's essentially your standard super taco with a pineapple chunk on top. I'm normally not a fan of mixing sweet with savory, but the pineapple really does add to the tacos. One of the trendiest taco spots within Seattle, I feel like if you haven't heard of this place you probably don't go out for tacos a whole lot. Tacos Chukis is located on Broadway Capitol Hill inside a little building with a couple of shops in it. You'll have to go upstairs into the very back area. After a yummy meal at Rondo, I saw that Tacos Chukis was literally across the street so I just had NO OTHER OPTION but to try it! It's a small spot on the 2nd floor inside The Alley Building. It was relatively easy to find IMO. I ordered a single house special taco (Adobada pork, grilled pineapple, melted cheese, onion, cilantro, salsa and guacamole on a soft corn tortilla) - I've only had adobada at one other place - in Socal - where they specialize in said meat. Tacos Chuki's was super flavorful and good but wow the cheese and guac caught me off guard - in a good way. It was good but, I'm glad I only got one because it was pretty filling! It gives me nostalgia because it remind me of getting tacos with my friends during college. It is convenient when taking the lightrail and only like a two min walk away. What I have gotten at this location: - House tacos (comes with pineapple yum) - Carne asada tacos - Quesadillas You can find Taco Chukis upstairs if you see Sumo Express outside when walking there. Not authentic tacos but still tastes good and for around $3 a taco, so I always come back. Pay a lil extra for their spicy salsa because it hits. You won't regret it!
