These were so yummy we ordered the baby burrito right after. Meat was tender, perfect amount of sauce and balance. The only thing I would change is the size of that pineapple on the pastor. A couple small slices would be better. The wrap on the baby burrito was so flaky and chewy. Highly recommend.

The tacos were so amazing! I also got a side of beans and they were so delicious too! Will definitely go back next time I'm in the area!

We got a few tacos for late night! We got the tacos asada and tacos adobada. Typically, I'm not a pineapple on savory food girl, but I thought it worked wonderfully with the adobada. I actually preferred it over the steak because of the pineapple! Maybe because we got it to go but it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. But I may also be spoiled by LA street tacos.

This place was recommended to me by a friend and I've been dying to try it. It's a hidden gem right in the middle of Capitol Hill, you have to walk upstairs to find it. This place offers authentic, affordable Mexican food. We ordered several tacos and a quesadilla and everything came out within minutes! I highly HIGHLY recommend trying their signature chuki taco (especially if you like pineapple), it was my favorite thing on the menu!! :) I left feeling full and satisfied but not heavy. This is now my go-to taco spot, it used to be Carmelo tacos but the food and the place make tacos chukis so unique.

This place was a hidden gem. The service was great and the food was delicious. I love that salsa and quac are included in each dish. It is a very affordable price point. 10/10

Food is amazing and fresh. Authentic as you can get. Highly recommend and we don't even live in Seattle. So glad we drove here to try.

What a gem of a spot. No tips Simple menu Simple seating Amazing service. Good ass tacos. I am soo floored. A simple no frills taco spot, that has been an institution in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, was super happy to stop by. It's tucked into the 2nd floor of a bldg and so efficient and delicious. I had 3 flavors the nopales, pork and asada. It was incredible! Simple tacos with lime

I'm from LA area so I've had a fair share of good tacos. Will say I wasn't super blown away by this spot but it was on the better side of tacos that I've tried in Seattle area. Located upstairs in a corner spot. I tried the tacos chukis and the beef mulita, I really like the way they do beef here. The pork was on the saltier side for me but I did like that the pineapple balanced it out. Tortillas are on the drier side. Super quick service and efficient overall. You order on a kiosk and they serve it to your table. The interior is a stuffy on a hot day but for a quick meal, no complaints from me. Would come back for a quick bite or if I'm craving tacos.

I've eaten here once before, but I couldn't recall how the food tasted so I came around for a second try. Unfortunately, Chukis failed to impress... I'm a Californian, so I know what a good taco is all about. I had carne asada tacos. The tacos were *drowning* in garnish -- namely the guac sauce. I could barely taste the salsa, onions, and cilantro. Less would've certainly been more. The ambiance is great -- it's vibrant & energizing. The inviting atmosphere kept me at Chukis well after my meal. Ultimately, while I'm glad I tried it out (again), I would not return to Chukis for the tacos.

The spot is a bit of a hidden gem--literally a hole-in-the-wall where you walk upstairs, which gives it a cool, secret vibe. The menu is simple, and the tacos are really good. The pineapple Takochuki was decent, but not mind-blowing. Service is quick, and while the ambience is on the darker side, the windows bring in plenty of natural light. Overall, a fun little place worth checking out.

This place is super close to one of the stops on the Link Light Rail and it's in a cool area. My husband and I really enjoyed this place. They have a big touch screen to order from and they bring the food out to you. Definitely recommend trying it out!

Got the Taco Adobada, Taco Asada, Taco Pollo. The Taco Adobada is pineapple and pork, similar to their house taco but without cheese. I liked this one the most! The pork was flavorful and moist and the pineapple was slightly crisp but not dry like unripe pineapples. The Taco Asada which was steak was my second favorite! So meaty and steak wasn't chewy and had nice char-like flavor. The Taco Pollo which was chicken was not bad, maybe I didn't get a good bite but it was on the drier side and mild in flavor. I personally wouldn't get this one again but I would get the steak and pork one again! You order on a tablet to the right of the counter and sit wherever you like. They have some tables and stool seating near a sunlit window. Definitely more comfy and house-like vibes. Order came out pretty fast too!

House (left hand side), bottom plate: nopal and carne asada, and top plate: chicken.

House taco is amazing. I want to go back so I can try the mini burrito and the nopal asado. You order on a screen and they bring out the food fairly quickly. I did order the Jamaica agua Fresca and sadly found it a bit too sweet- I would opt for a Mexican Coke again next time. It's on the second floor - they need more signage as I never knew it was there! Hidden gem!

    Yes

No salsa bar. They do have additional hot sauces available

    Is it ADA accessible?

No, it is not. It is at the top of several flights of stairs. It is definitely not wheel chair accessible.

When should I go to avoid the crowds?

The crowds are half the fun. But, if you are interested in dining alone I suggest when they open at 11am and maybe around 3pm. It never takes more than 20 minutes with super long lines. Those guys in the kitchen are super quick

How easy or hard is it to park around here? We usually go a little further south on Cap Hill when we dine out, so I'm not familiar if this is in one of the cramped pay-to-park neighborhoods or if it's a little more low key.

Although it's naturally very fatty, the flavor and juiciness was retained after cooking - so they didn't screw it up. The salsa verde was a very nice accompaniment, as it tasted light, fresh, and a good complement to the fat of the meat. The mole enchiladas were less good. The mole sauce used leaned way too heavily on a sweet flavor - having little to no nuttiness whatsoever. It didn't taste anywhere close to some of the best moles I've had. The enchilada underneath was fine - nothing special. Both dishes came with beans and rice. Both were slightly above average, but nothing to write home about. I would say the portions were well sized in terms of overall amount, but the enchiladas were quite small compared to the beans and rice. With these two dishes we ended up around 28 per person. Overall, it's average Mexican food. 6.5/10

So many of our regular spots had lines out the door, which was no surprise, but we ended up getting a table here. Figured Mexican food is hard to mess up. They have an option where you can try ALL of their dips for $20, which I couldn't resist. It was so fun, they had like 9 different ones! Before it seemed like Maiz Molino was focusing on elevated, unique Mexican dishes (shown in the pics in my prior review such as short rib, and other sort of "fusion" dishes, and more seafood focused, etc.) Now, the menu seems way more generic and casual like enchiladas, tacos, quesadillas, tamales, etc. just offered w/ different proteins. They are still focusing on maiz but just a bit more generic in the preparation and offerings. Also, they had 2 separate menus which was a bit confusing. One is a generic all day menu and then another menu had brunch and dinner on it. It was around 5:30 p.m. but they were out of a particular steak dish that we were interested in. Service was friendly. We had enchiladas, a dip sampler (for appetizer) and Tlacoyos. Everything was fine but nothing really stood out, sadly. It wasn't very busy while we were there, so hoping that they are doing ok as a business. I would love to come back if they brought back the old menu w/ things that you cannot really find elsewhere, including the great cocktail menu and desserts that were offered previously.

Andrew (our server) introduced us to his sidekick, who was in training. Love that personal, hands on approach for a mew team member, and Sidekick did a great job in monitoring our table and replenishing water. Have to stop here and express my appreciation for Andrew and how he took the time to explain the philosophy and genuine team vibe of the restaurant. Oftentimes when a restaurant adds a flat 20% gratuity, you get the feeling this is not passed on to the servers. Not so here. He explained that it's shared among the servers, bar, and other staff, with only a bit retained by management, but even that finds its way into their wages. Terrific work environment and happy to see it. It definitely shows in the level of service. But we're here to eat. Didn't take a picture, but one of my dining companions ordered the burrito with red chili sauce and it was very good. Just the right amount of heat in the sauce. The Cantina celebrates Taco Tuesday, so I took advantage of this. You get the opportunity to try 5 different street tacos for the low price of $15. For another $4 you order it fully loaded which is a steal (guac, pickled onions, lettuce, giardano, crema, and another lovely sauce). Each of the tacos were really delicious and packed full of flavor. I especially enjoyed the cauliflower and the beef. Was surprised how much I liked the popcorn chicken - still juicy and not greasy in the least. Andrew treated us to a round of the hatch green chili. I was delighted because it was a dish I wanted to try. He described it perfectly: a little kick, but you can't stop eating it. He was right. A bowl of this in the winter with their cornbread (which I'm confident will be delicious) will preempt a winter cold. The sauces on the table are not to be ignored either. The green chili sauce was fruity with a little heat, the scorpion chili brings the heat, but their homemade chili oil is phenomenal. I could put this on everything. In short, the Cantina delivers. Excellent food, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and fun staff, and a cool vibe. I'll bet the cocktails will also be good. Definitely adding to the regular rotation!
