Welcome to my dukedom. Allow me to show you around. TdS has a great assortment of tacos, huaraches, tortas, burritos, quesadillas, aguas frescas, and other specialties. They have rotating specials, too. They'll even hook you up with some off-menu items if you ask. I once got a hearty bean and cheese burrito that I've never seen on their menu. I have a soft spot in my heart for vegetarians (I married one!) and I usually order plant-based items here. I've never gone so far as to interrogate them on the ingredients of every item, though. Their veggie burrito comes with beans, squash, onions, and peppers, and is quite delicious. Try it. When I did, the nice woman of TdS recommended that I try the mushroom quesadilla next time, and I'm glad that I did. Very tasty and not too greasy. I fixed it up "Christmas style" (red and green salsas). The condiments are kept to the right of the ordering window along with napkins. I once came by for veggie tacos later in the day (approximately 2 pm) and they were out of beans, so they loaded up the tacos with rice. Come here early to make sure that they will have what you want. Remember: the Mexican Consulate is within spotting distance (and I know that I've seen some of their employees in line). TdS had better be authentic! There are a few stools if you don't want to eat at your workstation. I often walk to Cabrillo Park and find a shaded bench. I stopped by today and was pretty disappointed with their new business practice and felt the need to leave a review. The Pros: The location of this truck is pretty convenient considering they are across the street from my work. I've ordered food to go a few times on days I've forgotten my lunch. The quality of the food itself is fine and gets the job done. They have a wide variety of meats and variety of items. My favorite taco they have is the "al pastor," which they serve with little bits of pineapple. I love that they also offer vegetarian options. Their prices are very affordable. Tacos are a buck, tortas are 5 bucks, enchiladas are 7. Sometimes they have white posole, which is served piping hot. 3 stars for all this. The cons: However, my one and only complaint, which is completely new as of today, is their "to-go" salsa situation. This is the first time in my life that I've been charged for salsa at any taco shop/ taco truck. It would be no problem at all if the price was reasonable. But at $1.50 per container, the container being the size that it is, and the fact that it's not the most amazing salsa I've ever had, it is definitely not worth it. The container is more expensive than 1 taco! Mind you, they allow you to put salsa on your tacos before they cover them up for you. I for one, do not like eating soggy food, and putting the salsa on the tacos along with the steam that is trapped when they are covered make them inedible for me. I'm sure I'm not the only one. In the past, the lady cashier has always been very stingy with the sauce containers, only giving you 1 even if you get a big order, but she took the cake today, basically lecturing a coworker and I. Supposedly they are now charging for the sauce because people come by and "steal" it or take what she considers to be excessive amounts of sauce and this equals loss of revenue for them. If this is the case, it would be better to keep the sauces INSIDE the truck so she can control the amount of sauce being used. Or better yet, increase the prices to balance out the expenses of sauce cups and produce for the salsa. The taco prices are already rock bottom, I'm sure a 25 cent increase on a taco is not gonna create chaos. Charging an exorbitant amount for less than an ounce of sauce, however, is going to cause this truck to loose customers. I for one, knock off a star and will not be returning. First of all, let me talk about how clean this truck is, there is a hand written menu on the chalk board which I think is pretty cool cause they're taking the time to do it, not using whatever print, so there's the first point. Now,let's talk about their menu... although it's a taco truck, it is definitely more than tacos, they have tortas (Mexican sandwiches),enchiladas, nachos,quesadillas, AND they're made to order! Also their salsas are freshly made as well as their aguas frescas and that is a pretty good thing, They get an extra point for that. The best thing besides their amazing menu is their prices, they're super affordable and it's worth every penny, Despite what some females (what a coincidence they all work within the same area) said on previous reviews, they probably can't afford and extra buck that's super worth it. Food was decent, but the customer service was horrendous. I bought 5 BURRITOS and when my order was ready I asked for salsa cups to go. They said no, they flat out said I would have to pay if I want to take salsa home. I'm welcome to pour it on but I can't take salsa home!!? Lmaooooooo look lady if I wanted a wet burrito I would of ordered it lol . They need a quick class of economics and sales. Soooooooo I ordered 4 tacos...as I took a bite of my last taco...I thought it was the tortilla that was burned and I honestly don't mind chewing/eating burned tortilla but As i was chewing i noticed it wouldn't dissolve in my mouth. I took it out of my mouth and it was a huge cooked wrinkled plastic that was the size of my thumb. I have eaten at this place with my husband several times in my lunch while we sat in the car right behind the truck. Today, however I went with my coworker to pick up lunch for us and a few co-workers. We ordered a dozen tacos. When we asked for salsa containers since it was to go order, the guy says he has to charge us. I ask him why and he says they don't give salsa for their tacos........wtf??? I ask him if they then put the salsa on the tacos...he says yes. Sounds fair. I shrug it off. Then the girl who normally is the cashier comes to the window and says she will hand us our tacos when they're ready, for us to put salsa on them, then we hand them back to her to wrap them.....??? Yesterday my coworkers and I decided to order some tacos from the food truck, like we had order before. So my coworker decide to take a tiny small container to take some salsa on the side. Well we were accused of stealing after buying 20 some tacos that we paid for. We are allow to put salsa on our tacos but we can't take any on the side. If the owner would of been nice and polite about it we might of consider paying for it, but there's others ways to address the issue, not accusing people for stealing. This place gets one star because the food is great. However customer service sucks. The cashier lady was a bitch when I asked her for cups for salsa with my to go order of 12 tacos and burrito. I just picked up 3 asada street tacos for $3 and these things are very good. I eat a lot of tacos because I can't eat wheat and the only wheat in Mexican food is the flour tortillas and I must say that these are some.of the best tacos I've had...and the people are super nice too. Horrible customer service!! So I work near this food truck and I've been here many times and never had a problem until today. I had heard the rumors about the bad customer service but refused to believe it. However now I see what everyone is talking about. I ordered the chilaquiles with an over hard egg and paid for a side of lettuce. I got to my office and realized they had forgotten my lettuce, so no big deal I walked back to the food truck and got my lettuce. I then walked back to my office started to eat my chilaquiles and realized my eggs were over easy. So again no big deal I went back to let them know and see if they could fix the issue but instead the lady was rude and had the audacity to tell me that I had ordered them that way and besides I had already eaten them. Between going back and forth when the heck did I have time to eat them is my question. Seriously lady I only get a 30 minute lunch and have no need to try to rip you off! I Initially I wasn't looking for a refund, I just wanted my food, but after that comment and the fact that she went on to ignored me led me to ask for my money back. They could of easily redeemed the situation, but her attitude caused them yet another customer. All I wanted was an apology and my food but I got neither!
