Really good birria queso tacos. The consomé was delicious and the amount of meat and taste was above average. The service was excellent and the inside and outdoor patio was clean and presentable. We also ordered a horchata drink which was perfect, not overly sweet. They have a few parking spaces with one handicap space. Our only disappointment, which I saw this on another review, was they forgot to provide the consomé for our take our birria taco order. This is a major mistake as consomé is part of the dish. I hope the management takes note of this. Otherwise, I highly recommend this delicious Mexican restaurant. read more

Im actually really sad to post this review because the FOOD IS BOMB. Their green salsa is one of the best salsas I have ever had and everything is just made to perfection. Booking a catering with Tacos Don Chai has been the worst experience. I cant even book a catering with them! And whats even more sad is that I have been trying to book for the past 2 years. Ive recommended this restaurant to SOOO many of my family members and friends, and I eat/order from here frequently. Ive called, sent DM's through social media, sent Bryan the owner messages too, and I always get an automated message or a message from Bryan himself saying he is busy, but to reach out and theyll take care of me. Well..that hasnt happened AT ALL. I reach out and call with lots of time before my events. This last time was my straw and is what made me write this review. Ive called numerous times and they tell me someone would get back to me. I called back again 2xs today, to be told they can see they have a catering on the day IVE CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES ABOUT- on the calendar theyve had sitting in front of them. Theyve had this calendar in front of them the WHOLEEE time and couldnt just tell me the first time I called a month ago? Like why take my name and number down? And then to have Bryan the owner tell me through messenger that he lost the paper with my name and number but to be patient and hell get back to me. Im been patient enough-2 years to be exact! Bryan is actually an Elementary school friend and I support his business A LOT. Im not even asking for a discount and I would NEVER..I genuinely LOVE the food you and your family make. This place is a GEM! I tried this place early in the morning and I was surprised there wasn't a line out the door. The best tacos I've had since moving to the Bay Area! I use to live in Los Angeles and you know I am around a lot of tacos but these tacos kicked but. The birria is so elevated and perfect amount of Consomé on the side. The flavors evolve as you try their variety of salsas. John was so nice and helped us with our order and had great customer service. One of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had. We got the birria and the chorizo burritos. Both were so good but the birria stole the show. Traveling from SoCal to NorCal we stopped in based off the reviews..thank god we did! This was the restaurant that had us talking about on our way back down and STILL talking about it. The breakfast burritos are hearty and are arguably the best breakfast burritos that I've had outside of the Southwest. They're stuffed with egg, cheese, tater tots, and your choice of meat. The service is personalized and friendly at this hole in the wall. Bryan always remembers my name and order. Okaaaaay Martinez, I see you! If you're like me, you probably don't stop in this little town all that much, cause why would you? But I just found your reason numero uno!! Located near the refinery, it's a a little ways off the freeway but you will not regret the journey. The food is bomb, customer service excellent, and the price point - whewwww!! God bless! I LOVE that they open early. I'm assuming to service the workers in the area. This makes sense, but it makes me so sad that they close early :( I get it though. The restaurant is small, with limited indoor seating. They do have a couple tables outside to dine, but this is not a place for large groups. They have a teeny parking lot (strip?) to the right of the building, but other than that, I really don't even know where'd you park. I called in my order on the way to Concord, and they had my order ready in 15 min, just like they told me. The food was HOT so clearly, made to order. You'd be surprised how many places aren't. I was greeted right upon walking in, they already knew which pickup order was mine, and the overall vibe in there was warm and friendly. I ordered the birria tacos and a chorizo breakfast burrito. Mind you, it was 10 AM so the fact that you can order their whole menu, even during breakfast time, is amaaazing! They included 3 salsas for each order, limes with the tacos, and a good amount of napkins. They asked if I wanted consomme to dip the tacos and I said yes, but I'm pretty sure that might have been an upcharge but not 100% on that. They claim to put 5 eggs into their breakfast burritos and I feel like theyre not kidding. That thang was packin! NGL it looked kinda small at first but it was a hefty one. They stuffed it with eggs, crispy potatoes (the best), cheese and chorizo. They melt the cheese onto the tortilla first so it gets that nice crisp.. makes a huge difference! The chorizo flavor was a little lacking, but I don't even like too much chorizo so I was fine with this. I am a ketchup and eggs girl, so next time I'll ask if they have some ketchup. Don't get me wrong, I love salsa too but I like to mix the two. IYKYK. I loved the red and green salsas but was not a fan of the yellowish one. It's a blended pineapple salsa but was way too sweet, at least for my breakfast burrito. The red and green salsas have a nice kick so if you're a spice wimp, you might cry. Not sure if they have anything more mild. The quesabirria tacos were so good! I'm not a huge birria lover because shredded meat just doesn't hit the same, but these are a great choice if birria is your thing. Super meaty, cheesy, and packed with flavor! The tacos are big too! You gotta get the consomme (upcharge or not), it's a must!! I pass through every weekend because my daughter has activities over the bridge, so this spot is def gonna be heavy in my breakfast rotation. BTW The owner's car has a license plate - MRSALSA That should tell you all you need to know about the place. FIRRRREE! UPDATE - tried the chicken soft tacos, chicken super burrito, and carne asada quesataco. The quesa taco was great but the soft taco was sooooo dry. The chicken was actually good but it's just a super dry "soft" taco. The chicken burrito was delicious, and the grilled cheese within the tortilla adds so much depth and flavor but they barely put any chicken in it!
