My soft tacos were great, however I ordered my husband's hard-shell tacos without any crema, lechuga, or tomatoes... and yet it still got sour cream and tomatoes. Luckily, he's not allergic, just picky. I'm not sure if they were just out of lengua on a random Wednesday or if they don't carry it anymore. But at least the carnitas and pollo were tasty, if a bit greasy. read more

I've frequented the various Tacos Don Nachos over the years, and no doubt they can have good tacos. However, there's been a notable uptick in the number of very good tacos in RI and this place has gotta step it up. Positives: - mostly good tasting tacos and salsa - corn tortillas are standard, none of that gringo flour tortilla nonsense unless requested by said gringo. For a roadside trailer, I think this is a great find. Sure, the portions are a bit small, but so are the prices, so take it with a grain of salt. I was de-virginized last night. By Tacos Don Nacho. Admittedly, initially I was put off. I was half expecting a roach coach with sub-par food. But instead I was greeted with a stationary "Coach" with flavorful and (dare I say "MOIST") mexican food - tacos, tamales, burritos and the like. TDN gets an extra bump for that divey charm that I love so much. I had a giggle at the half attempt at decorating the place with Santa pulling the "coach" and the horse dressed as Rudolph. It was advised to call in your order, as they take a little bit of time, but as new customers we weren't sure what the menu entailed. So off we went. There's nothing special/cohesive about the layout of the menu. There are some photos of food on the side and then a list of items above the window... Luckily, places like these have your typical dishes... cheap tacos, Giant 5.50 burritos, and the tamale, which was scrumptious! They even offer beef tongue, LOL! I did have to dock a star for slow service and no horchata on the menu. But, overall a great place, and I'd love to come back! read more

Bc if you want good cheap Mexican food these are the types of places that will deliver. There is plenty of parking in front and they are open late. The food is made to order and although the tacos are small, you want to get at least 3, they are only $1.50 and taste delicious! Great little joint. Posted some new menu pics as they added to it since the last pics were taken. Tried chicken nachos and a beef quesadilla. Both were good, but I agree with other reviewers that the chicken was awesome while the beef was just average. The quesadilla was a good size but the tacos were on the small side but still had a decent amount of meat. My food was ready in a reasonable amount of time. Better than Cilantro. They apparently serve barbacoa on weekends, and if that's tasty then I will be able to say Don Nacho's is the best Mexican around. Will be going back to try more! read more

The burritos are giant and simply amazing. As a white kid from the woods, I don't know how authentic they are or anything, but they're stuffed with super flavorful rice, meat and veggies. They taste darn good, I can tell you that. I've had both the chicken and the steak and they're both amazing. If I had to choose one, I'd pick the chicken. The tacos are only $1.20 but they're tiny, so get at least two of them (maybe 3 or 4). They come with a lime and two tortillas. I like to break them up into two tiny tacos. They're doused with fresh cilantro and onions and are pretty fantastic. Not a HUGE fan of the tortillas themselves, a little on the doughey side, but I think that's how they're supposed to be. The steak quesadilla is beyond fantastic. It's greasy and cheesy as hell, so pop a few Tums before you dive in, but it's like biting into a piece of heaven. Nom. read more

Yum yum and ahh YUM! i think they have best al pastor burrito (shepherd style pork) in rhode island! Hands down! Their tacos could use some improvements... maybe muenster or panela cheese might do the trick. Again my taste buds is aways bougy... sorry... nevertheless they have good and authentic Mexican food. This tiny dive is nothing more than a trailer pulled by a fake horse, thus they are not going anywhere. But if you consider their flavor, it's truly going places! Their truly authentic flavorful zest reminds me of many of the Chicago Mexican dives... Awesome and cheap! Their menu is a bit slow and I wish they had more to offer. I've literally been here a dozen times and I have never written a review... so the last time I visited was last Saturday night...my friend and I absolutely love this place for tacos! So affordable and so delicious! It's a great place for late night food that's when I have always come around 1130p! The staff is friendly and the food is amazing if you are looking for authentic tacos. I recommend the chicken, steak and carnitas taco! The red and green sauces that come with it are also yummy! They offer call ahead sometimes it can get really busy! Also the parking lot is kinda small and gets packed quickly because of the constant crowd. In the mood for some good Mexican food and you're in the Pawtucket/Central Falls area look no further then Tacos Don Nacho. Can't beat it for the money. Parking lot can get a little packed and crazy at night, I usually place my orders over the phone so I don't have to wait. I always get the steak quesadilla comes with a side salad, so fresh and goes well with the quesadilla. Their tamales all the way are also amazing. They have $1.50 tacos in a few meats to choose from. This is the closest thing around the New England area that reminds me of food back home. Love this place and I like their horchata. If you're feeling homesick for some legit Mexican food, this is the place. I find their menudo to be over priced for the size but taste is spot on. I was disappointed with the tamales I ordered. The masa was flat and didnt have that delicious fluffy texture that masa gives. The filling was okay didnt have the most flavor. The cheese was scarce a ton of lettuce and I barely could find the sour cream. I had to douse it in hot sauce for flavor. For $8 for two tamales I dont think I would go back. read more

I had high hopes for Tacos Don Nacho. It seemed to be the epitome of a hole-in-the-wall and a place for locals to get authentic Mexican food. The food was pretty dang delicious and for $1.50 a taco, you can't go wrong. But the wait... man oh man the wait gets you. I think we waited around 45 minutes for 3 tacos and an order of nachos. I don't know about you, but in the 20 degree Rhode Island weather, that is NOT worth it no matter how good the food is. Other than the long wait, my only other complaint is that the chicken on the nachos had a strange texture. A bit chewy? Not really sure how to describe it. My favorite taco was probably the chorizo taco. The parking lot in front can fit about 6 cars but since everyone there is likely waiting for their food, it takes a while for the cars to move out. My recommendation is to order ahead of time or go during the daytime when it's a little more bearable to wait outside. read more

Good stuff. I ordered 3 pastor and 1 pollo asado tacos (they were out of carnitas or I would have ordered one of those as well), but honestly I don't know if they gave me 4 pastor or if I just couldn't tell the difference. The tacos are pretty good. They're not as amazing as some of the street tacos I've had in san diego, but definitely pretty good for providence. Next time I will have to try the burritos. read more

Wow. I just had the best tacos here. Ordered 3 chicken and 1 steak. They come on double corn tortillas and served with cilantro and diced onions. It sounds pretty plain but the meats are marinated in sauce which is delicious. They also give you a few sides of green sauce and limes. I preferred the chicken over the steak. It was more flavorful and tender. It's not in the best neighborhood and only has a few chairs set up on the side. We ate ours standing up next to a ledge for our plates. These are the best tacos I've ever had. I want more. All must kneel down to the Don! P.S. My meal was $4.80. read more

When I thought I would never find a real Mexican Taquería, I stumble upon Tacos Don Nacho. You get traditional tacos here with traditional meats like lengua (tongue), carnitas (braised or confit pork), or al pastor (seasoned pork). Double corn tortillas with cilantro and onions and a side of lime, the way the tacos are supposed to be. They also give you a choice between their red (chipotle adobe) or green (salsa verde) sauce to accompany your meal. All for $1.50 a taco. Can't beat that. I also like the fact you can get menudo (spicy tripe soup) on the weekends. They also have many other typical Mexican-American fare like mission-style burritos, nachos, and quesadillas. I usually stick with the tacos and the tamales. The also serve Jarritos, mexican sodas. It isn't clearly marked on the menu, you just have to request it. I usually go with the sangria flavored, tamarindo, or grape fruit flavored Jarritos. It's no frills here. Sometimes the dishes can be overwhelmed with shredded iceberg lettuce (which I opt out when ordering my tamales). It's a great place to get your authentic Mexican food fix, and a great lunch option. read more

Ok, I'll admit it: I was scared of Tacos Don Nacho for a very, very long time. I've driven by it on numerous occasions, wary of the faux horse-and-carriage structure that was both strange and fascinating. Well, now it all makes sense. Tacos Don Nacho is legit, kids - LEGIT. I ordered a trio of meats to satiate my hunger pangs, and I could have easily downed a fourth, but more on that later. I asked for one each of an al pastor, a pollo and a carne taco topped with onions and cilantro (say yes to this, or you'll miss out). The al pastor was tender, flavorful and beautifully seasoned. The pollo was pulled to perfection with the same spices as the al pastor, and the carne was, well... carne: meaty and filling. The portions, as I mentioned, were a tad small-ish, but for $1.50 a pop, you can afford 4, I know you can! They'll supply you with two of the most delicious hot sauces this gal has ever tasted - one verde and slightly this side of spicy, and the other chipotle, which has a pleasing smoky kick I wanted to sip all on it's own. If they bottled it, I would buy it. My one complaint, and I know this is lame... no flour tortillas! I'm a weirdo, and have an aversion to the texture of corn tortillas. But the flavor and texture of the meats made up for it, I guess. The woman serving us from the window was a sweet and professional as could be, and I kind of wanted to hug her a little. But I didn't. 5 yrs after my first review and am still impressed with the tacos. Delicious, all of them: chicken, asado, pastor, etc. Tamales also tasty, although a little sparse on the fillings.
