Great street taco experience in the Metro East. Located in Granite City, this taco shop features tacos with a wide variety of meats from standard ground beef and chicken to more authentic lingue (don't look it up, just eat it). Tacos are served with three sauces being a slightly spicy red sauce, mild avocado and a slightly tangy avocado. Tacos cost $3.50 each and are ala carte. Oddly, we came here as my daughter wanted to try the pineapple agua fresco (very good). We also split an order of the street corn which is great side item. Chips and salsa are also served. Service staff were attentive and hustling. There was plenty of room to sit; however, parking was limited. May need to park on the side street. There are some bar items and a few other Mexican dishes available but we did not try them. I may do so on another trip but the tacos are the star here. read more

The food is so good, the salsa selection and the chicharin baskets are such a unique appetizer and so good! the main plates are fun and great servings and so so addictive. The dessert options are also delicious and 1 pastry reminded me of my mom and brought me to tears. It was absolutely delicious. They vibes are very Spanglish and bilingual services. Along with the menu being in both Spanish and English. We are very happy to have found this Gem of a restaurant, we will be regulars here. GREAT local Mexican and NOT just the BEST tacos! They also serve delicious birria, pozole soup and homemade menudo, as well as the usuals - quesadillas and burritos etc. . The margaritas are generous and the food is always served with friendliness and even the owners check in on you. Small parking lot with narrowed main entry. I was greeted at the register and placed a Togo order. The birria tacos were ok but had no cheese. Was told after I ate and asked that those with cheese are quesabirria tacos so keep that in mind when ordering. Flavor was ok. Side of rice and beans were added as well. Their shrimp loaded fries are a gift to St. Louis. The fries are extra crispy with cheese and shrimp. These fries do NOT get soggy. They stay crispy throughout your meal. The portion sizes are huge so go hungry. Beyond the shrimp loaded fries which are my favorites, the menu has an impressive array of authentic Mexican dishes. I had never actually been to the brick and mortar Tacos el Manny location. I have only ever had the food truck at Taco fest, etc. I'm so glad I got to check it out! Extremely limited menu for vegetarians. Ordered birria ramen and tacos and spouse gave it 5/5 stars. I had loaded fries with chicken and it was fine. 3/5. It was just fries, chicken, too much cheese, and a chipotle mayo. Guacamole needed adjustment at the table because it wasn't seasoned at all. Horchata was very good. I'm a first generation American Latinx so I've tried authentic Mexican food and i can say that even though we're in Illinois, I felt like I was back in my Pueblo in Mexico. Chicken and beef weren't really good. Didn't taste seasoned and had a weird texture. The quesobirria was delicious though. They have good salsas so I wish they gave you chips instead of the puffed things. I know there's a name but I don't know it. I think it's completely overpriced for what it is.
