This is a no-frills sort of place, and reminds me of some of the taco shops I've been to in Mexico. As an indication of their authenticity, I was the only gringo in the place during the entirety of my lunch, and Spanish music was playing the entire time. When you get here, you order your food from the window at the front of the place (the guy there spoke perfect English), pay the bill, then take your seat. When your order is ready, they will call out what you ordered, and you go get it. After collecting your order, make your way over to the salsa bar for your choice of hot (not really all that hot, IMHO) or mild salsa, guacamole sauce, limes, and cucumbers. I had three carnitas tacos (street-sized, which is the only option), and while the meat was not bursting with flavor, the tacos were only $1.99 each. In today's inflation-gone-wild economy, that's a pretty good deal. Not quite as good of a deal were the two chavelas (or micheladas, if you prefer) which clocked in at $7.80 each. They were pretty flavorful though, so the price didn't stop me from having two. ;-) While I was having my lunch, I noticed several people come in and get food to go. This might be my option for next time, as it would allow me to take advantage of the great food prices, while making my own chavela at home. Salud! read more

They didn't serve the beer and cold glasses and the bottle was a bit too warm. The meat burrito is a little bit plain and the sauce or salsa was not very spicy. They do not serve chips and salsa. I've never seen a Mexican restaurant they did not serve chips and salsa. They who have the tall bottles of Coca-Cola like in Mexico without the corn syrup crap. I was on my lunch break getting my car smogged next door and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat. I yelped it and found this little taco shop was withing walking distance. Walked in and looked at the menu and it was very straightforward. Tacos and burritos. Smelled good. The girl at the counter was super nice and very helpful. She made recommendations and told me about Tuesday and Thursday specials. I ordered the 4 taco lunch special. 2 Carne. 2 al pastor. and a drink. $7.99. The tacos came with cucumbers and salsa etc. My tacos were really good. Definately authentic style. not too greasy but reminded me of outside vendor styled. Worker rushed us out so we decided not to order, we come frequently and order a lot but we felt uncomfortable.

A really good solid joint. Not a big menu and half of the stuff on it I've never heard of. But they've got tacos, burritos, and quesadillas; that's good enough for me! We got chicken tacos, al pastor tacos, and a carne Asada burrito(without lettuce) It was pretty good. Tacos are small, I ate 4. But delicious and packed with meat. My boyfriend said the carne Asada burrito was good but that the tacos were the way to go. Oh and the guacamole salsa is a must. It wasn't spicy, just added some good flavor. They have dollar taco nights so those will most likely be the nights for us. read more

Doesn't really get more authentic than this. Great food, friendly service, and reasonable prices - especially on Tue/Thur $1 taco days! Helpful hint: They've added new help recently that speak English well, but many employees don't. The menu is all in Spanish, but if you walk up towards the register they have a sheet of paper with English translations of the menu on it. I struggled to communicate with some of the help in regards to the menu until I found this hidden "cheat sheet". read more

First timer. Absolutely the best carne asada street tacos I've ever had. Come to the desert once a year for the past 25 years and always looking for a different taco joint. Being from El Paso and now living in San Antonio I'm very picky and critical. I don't like leaving bad reviews unless it's a health issue. However, these tacos are great. Only wish I wasn't leaving tomorrow and could try more items on their menu. The staff is friendly and speak Spanish and English so don't be reluctant to try this place. It's not fancy, but worth it. I have lived in Cathedral City for about 7 years and I was ecstatic to find this gem down the street from me! Their horchata is actually hand made, none of that powder shit. I purchased a restaurant.com certificate and presented it to the restaurant owner and the owner said that they cannot validate the gift certificate that they were no longer honoring gift certificates .... the gift certificate had no expiration date but the owner stated that because it was too much of a loss for them that they would not accept the gift certificate... this was my first time coming here and I was externally disappointed in their customer service I will be reporting this to the BBB.... Ordering: I like how you order with the cook, I like how the cooks are fast efficient and courteous. Paying: you pay after you receive your food from the cook, the cashier was nice, they accept card which was convenient, Food: the cashier gives you 3 bottles (red salsa, green salsa and guacamole), red salsa is flavorful, green salsa is watered down and very little flavor, guacamole is completely flavorless, extremely watered down. I ORDERED 2 QUESADILLAS DE AL PASTOR AND A TACO DE LENGUA: al pastor was very salty but I still enjoyed it, the taco was good but I must admit that the lengua at Villa Bakery in Cathedral City is my childhood and still adulthood favorite. Super yummy tacos!! Finally a place that offers basic delicious tacos. They serve your tacos an crispy corn tortillas partially fried in oil (instead of just steamed tortilla). It's meat, cilantro and onion. If you want some cheese go for a "gringa" which has a mozzarella type of cheese in between two large flour tortillas. They are double tortilla, street style tacos. Meat is great, sauces can use some sprucing up. They offer Mexican glass bottle sodas and aguas frescas. For a buck fifty a taco I will be back for many more! read more

NEGATIVE STARS! ordered the Alambra plate, STAY AWAY! It is supposed to be a wide variety of good popular taco meats (carne asada, al pastor, pollo, puerco, etc) but really it is just scraps and grilled vegetables! It came with undercooked bacon, burned chorizo, and chopped hot dogs. YES, CHOPPED HOT DOGS. WTF! And that was barely any meat. It was mostly soggy bell peppers, onions, cucumbers, squash, and shredded cheese to hide the $#!+ on a single. Hotchata tasted more like watered down fireball. Tortillas are ridiculously small and covered in oil from the grill. Limes were dry AF, and the salsa tasted below average. Taco bell packets would be better. Took it back and got my money back. Would've gotten a photo, but it was that disgusting. It was less than dog food. Save your time and money, go down the street to Santa Fe, you'll get your money and taste worth for authentic and well prepared food. read more

Excellent authentic taco's at bargain prices. Taco's are $1.00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays ($1.49 the rest of the week) and the rest of the menu is limited (burritos & quesadillas). I live 1/2 mile from Tacos El Poblano in Cat City, but dining here is like taking a trip across the southern border. Friendly service, simple decor with folding chairs with white cloth table, and Telemundo on the TV. My wife and I each had 5 taco's (they are small but tasty); I had a beer and she had a soda for a grand total of $15! My favorites are the carne asada and el pastor, and the habanero salsa has a good kick. If you are in the mood for authentic "street tacos", Taco's El Poblano delivers. Highly recommended! read more
