Had a late dinner and decided to try this place. I saw it on Grubbing with Greg and looked good on video. Order Carne Asada, Suadero and Adobada. Sadly, I think this place is overhyped. The tortillas were hard on the edges like dried out. The carne asada was very tender that I wasn't sure if I was eating the saudero or the asada. I have been waiting to try this place and finally went on a whim on a Saturday evening. Tacos are an experience that should always be enjoyable and never did I think I would find a taqueria that disappointed. Well, this place managed to check off that box. I ordered two carne asada tacos, one suadero taco, one birria taco, beans with birria and cheese and an horchata. The one and only pro for me was that they're generous with the meat. The experience went downhill from there. For me, the flavor just wasn't there for any of the items. The worst part for me was all of the salsas were too spicy. As you can see from the photos, I tried various salsa. I even asked for their green salsa, which typically tends to be milder, but not only was it not "green" in color, it was no less mild. Tacos without salsa are a complete miss for me. I had read how delish the beans with meat side was; however, I wanted more beans than the birria because to me, the spices used in this dish were just too strong and overpowering. I gave the leftovers of this side to my visiting raccoons and possum and none of them touched it (they eat everything). My review is based on my likes and expectations with respect to tacos and unfortunately, this place was subpar for my liking. As I always state with respect to low rated restaurants, evaluate the place for yourself. Perhaps you will disagree and have a completely different experience. Where to start, this is my new go-to spot for tacos in East LA, especially the quesatacos. The tortillas, both flour and corn are hecho a mano (handmade) and so delicious and fresh. The frijoles with birria and cheese, served with tortillas, is also a favorite of mine. I've tried a few of the meats, but the carne asada is still my favorite. They're really all good, but I actually can't say that for the tripas and lengua because I haven't had (not my jam). I'm sure if those were my meats of choice, they'd be good too. This spot looks like a new taco joint with Tijuana style tacos which are not as common. They are actually one of my favorite kinds of tacos and are very similar to tacos El Gordo if you are familiar with that chain. You'll find a similar menu here, including their specialty: the Tijuana-style adobada taco.
