Best tacos I've had in years! I'd give the whole menu a try if I had more time but these tacos were on point and worth the visit. Will definitely swing by when I'm in town again.

Very good food for fast eat. Fresh! Free topping guacamolle, cucumbers, lemon and setera.

It's an EZ up tent in the middle of some sketch looking industrial district right near LAX. It might take you a little while to find it, but it's definitely worth it. The way I generally find it is by finding directions to Mariella's Tacos first (a food truck) and then looking around the corner and down the street for it. I'll try to come up with better directions the next time I go.. I've tried most of their tacos and they're godly. I generally stay out of sketch places in the middle of the night in LA, but this place is worth the risk. I've been twice in three weeks. They only have one table set up so expect to stand or eat around your car. Each taco is $1.25 and they're the size of a normal street taco, so you'll probably need to buy a lot.. but it's certainly a fair deal. Ask for grilled pineapple on the al pastor! They also sell canned soda for a $1. The last thing I remember is this hot, thick, cinnamon-y hot chocolate that's super good on a cold night. Cash only!

    3 Queso Birria Tacos

The tacos are fantastic! The flavor of the Birria is so good that no salsa is needed. The service was fast and friendly. I highly recommend eating here!

We've got a taco newcomer to a part of LAX that has been run by Mariella's tacos for some time now, and while Tacos Escondidos dishes up some decent tacos, they're bested by Mariella's across the board, which is a tough break given Mariella's is no more than 50 yards away. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Tacos Escondidos has your typical swath of offerings ranging from a self serve toppings bar to lighted seating, which is nice given that this part of LAX can frankly be dark and creepy. My one disappointment was that when I showed up on a Saturday night the pastor spit wasn't spinning, which I can't fault them for but it was an atmosphere ding nonetheless. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? At $1.50 each, the tacos at Tacos Escondido are reasonable, and are the same as Mariella's. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? I ordered pastor and chorizo for my two tacos, and while the pastor meat was okay, the chorizo was too salty. From there, the tortillas tasted a bit stale, the self serve onions and cilantro didn't have enough cilantro in the mix, and the salsas were watery. Disappointing. No Stars. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Tacos Escondido is okay, but Mariella's nearby is notably better. No Star.

I ordered two carne asada, one chorizo, and one al pastor. The condiment setup was also really good. Let me tell you, this hit the spot! I loved the grilled onions, serranos, hot sauce, and especially the curtido de habanero,so good. The carne asada was okay slightly on the tougher side but the chorizo and al pastor were really solid. Taco prices are fair, but the aguas frescas felt a bit on the expensive side. Overall, I'd definitely come back again.

I came here for dinner on a week night and my experience here was pretty good. I had the asada and al pastor tacos with all the toppings and they were both so good and full of meat and heat. The toppings can be spicy for some, so be warned. My favorite of the two was the all pastor which was flavorful and I did like the thinly shaved meat. It was not dry at all and was fresh. I also tried the mulita with al pastor meat and that was also soso good. Cheesy, meaty, and indulgent. The additional topping section had good variety with pickled onions, cucumbers, etc. and everything seemed pretty fresh. Unfortunately, they were pretty much out of the roasted pepper and grilled onions at the time I went. To drink, I had the horchata and that was also very delicious. It was huge, sweet, and creamy. I also loved how it was not grainy at all. A good pairing with the rich foods. They also have a good amount of seating at the stand with a long table and multiple chairs. Parking is tricky since its street parking only.

Having been to so many taco stands, I think what makes Tire Shop Taqueria really stand out are the right-off-the-grill charcoal-grilled meats, the freshly made tortillas literally in front of you as you are waiting on line, and the free guacamole that comes with each taco. The ordering process is like any other taco stand, though one difference is here the salsas/guacamole are all handled by the staff. If you'd like more of something, just ask them instead of reaching for the ladle yourself. There is a separate area though for grilled onions/peppers and radishes you can serve yourself. I got the asada, chorizo, cabeza, and al pastor, and they were all so good. The asada and chorizo are specifically grilled over charcoal, and that flavor really shines through. I loved how meaty and tender the cabeza was too, and the classic al pastor hit the spot. They have large communal tables setup, so it is a great friendly vibe to enjoy your meal I will say, the surrounding area is not the best in LA, especially given how the taco stand is only open at night. The parking lot is quite small, so I parked on a side street that had some abandoned cars, but of course, if you are in/from LA, this is not that new for us. I would hesitate if I am a tourist though to make it out here. Anyhow, the food really is worth it here, and I can't wait to be back!

We found easy street parking in the neighborhood on 41st Street, and waited in line for about 15-20 minutes. We ordered the asada tacos. They pre-sauce your tacos, which was fine by me, but my boyfriend who can't handle as much spice would've preferred it on the side (so warning for anyone similar! they do put a little habanero on them, so just ask them for salsa on the side). I think I ran into a problem of reading too many raving reviews -- these tacos were good but I was expecting them to be mind blowing, so I was a little disappointed. I tasted the charcoal char, but kind of wished the taste was more pronounced, or at least the meat more seasoned. The hand made tortillas were definitely the coolest part, but I thought they were a little dry too. The ladies whipping those out are artists though. Actually, all the workers here have the assembly line down to the tea, and they definitely add a little flare for a show. I particularly liked how they had a lot of seating at this location, instead of just a couple stools lying around like most taco trucks. It felt more like outdoor patio seating than a normal taco stand. They could probably take more time to wipe down tables more often though. Overall would visit again if in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way for the tacos here.

It took me longer to decide what I wanted to try than what it took for the line to move and for it to be my turn to order. So yea, these folks are FAST and very courteous as well. They have real Al Pastor on the trompo (the spit) so of course I ordered pastor tacos and a pastor mulita. I also ordered a few SUADERO tacos which you don't find just anywhere. I am still raving about the amount of meat and flavor of the food here, it's insanely delicious. Once you get your food you make your way down to the end of the taco stand where you are met with an amazing array of fresh taco fixings and salsas. I like that they were open late to satisfy a late night taco craving. Even though there is typically a line they are quite efficient with orders and even have a parking lot/outdoor dining space in addition to their indoor space so it doesn't feel cramped. It was my first visit so I had to get a mix of their tacos and burritos with the various meats they serve. It was a nice fact to know their tortillas have some lard also so it adds a nice flavor as well. + Burrito 2.0 (asada) + Chivichanga (chicken and beef) + Tacos (chorizo, tripe, cabeza, asada) I enjoyed the burrito with asada and thought it was good portion size for the cost. The guac, cheese, and beans pair well with the meat and has a nice grill on the tortilla. The tacos were a solid size as well but I was surprised to find the tripe as my favorite because they fry it and it adds a nice crunch/texture change. The cabeza was a close second with the stewed flavors. The chivichangas were also tasty but not the traditional chimichanga I was anticipating. It's definitely on the softer side as everything mixes together and there's not much of a texture change. Worth trying if you are curious though. I ordered to go so I didn't see if they have a salsa bar but I did have to pay $.10 per to go container which would be nice if they were free. However, I liked mixing their red and green salsa with each bite. I am curious to try their avocado salsa next time. Overall, I thought the portion sizes were good for the prices and I felt full afterwards.
