The food is good I ask for no guacamole on my mulitas and they decide not to follow so know I'm pissed off and trying to take away the guacamole

Outstanding Tacos and Unlimited Fresh Aguas at Tacos Gavilan If you're craving top‑notch tacos or burritos, Tacos Gavilan is worth the splurge. The menu leans toward the pricier side, but the flavors and quality make it feel like a true bargain. Their Molitas--tender shredded meat piled on warm tortillas and topped with creamy avocado and tangy sour cream--are a must‑try. One heads‑up: the Sope wasn't quite as crispy or cooked through as I'd hoped, so I'd skip it and stick with the tacos. But honestly, you really can't go wrong with any of their taco fillings--the meat is seasoned perfectly and each bite is savory and satisfying. The cherry on top? Unlimited fresh aguas--limón (sometimes called "china"), jamaica, and tamarindo--poured straight from the dispenser. They're bright, refreshing, and the perfect complement to your meal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Whether you're a taco purist or just looking for a fun lunch spot that goes above and beyond, Tacos Gavilan delivers on taste, value, and atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My boyfriend introduced me to this place as we were visiting his hometown in California. Now every time we are in town this is our very first and last stop. We live in Vegas and sometimes we drive to Cali to specifically go to this location so I could satisfy my carne asada torta craving. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service here is always spot on, everybody is always so kind and welcoming and the restaurant itself is always very clean which we can appreciate![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff moved very fast and is always so helpful! The food here is always tasty! This was one of mg boyfriends childhood spots so it's really nice that we get to come here and is now our go to spot!

First time trying this place and I would order again. Food was very tasty especially with a mix of the red and green sauces. Food arrived earlier than expected and the prices were reasonable. Only negative was there should have been more packets of sauce based on our order size.

I was in South Central LA working decided to this spot it look good. The lady suggested Mulitas I requested Al Pastor and Buchiea I ordered my food to eat there with horchata. The sides are free pintos beans and veggies omg it was delicious . They more look like quesadillas but different name the meat the cheese was so tasty totally price $12.89 and place was popping all nationalities were grubbing. Definitely will try again if I see one near San Gabriel valley area. Plenty of seating with TV's and everyone looks happy eating here.

Actually needed a bathroom. Large fast food place. I'm ok eating in return for bathroom access. I tried the bathroom it was locked with a key pad. I went to the counter told the girl I needed the bathroom code and would buy a coke in return and come back for food. I paid 3.71 for a coke, I asked for the code, she said you don't need one, I told her it was Locked and she said I didn't need one. I went and tried again, locked !! The girl was no longer at the counter. If they don't Allow bathroom use how does the Health dept allow it I did not fill my coke cup I left and will never buy anything from this chain

It's been awhile since I've had this place but I had time for lunch and I had their super nachos & a Sope. The food was great and the topping bar was nice & convenient since everything was packaged. The service was quick and easy. Also they really kept the place clean.

Despite the mixed reviews, fortunately our drive thru and ubereats experiences with Tacos Gavilan have been pleasant. My daughter loves their asada tacos and quesadillas and I like their asada plato. We didn't like the flan that much. Pricing is reasonable too.

I ordered from Tacos Gavilian the deal on UBER eats- spend 40.00 they will deduct 20.00 from the order. The nachos had carne asada on top - I give it a 3/5 there was an adequate amount of carne asada not much melted cheese and the chips appeared store bought not authentic tortilla chips. I ordered a mulita which was very tasty. Oh I forgot I ordered two carne asada burritos one I shared with a coworker and I kept the other for tomorrow's lunch!!There is an option for additional cilantro, onions, beans, green/red salsa. I also ordered a Jamaica and I guess they no longer offer cups because it came in a carry out container,it's cute but I wanted a cup. There should be an option. Tacos Gavilan is still a good place if you want to find some good Mexican Food!!!

Ambience was ok not too many people around 9:30 am Now as for the Food last time y tried tacos Gavilán the food was bland maybe because I went around 9pm so I'm trying this in the morning Buche was good Pastor was recooked from previous day you can tell right away so The chorizo mulita was a 2 for me I do appreciate how they have all the condiments pre package already to go and they have crunchy plastic for the plates . NOW service I seen this lady and her toddler walk in around 9:32am 9/7/23 it looked like the cashiers knew the mom. Well this kid got on top of the counter with his dirty shoes and was acting up in the floor and they just watched him didn't say anything THEN proceeded to grab all the stir straws by the entrance and spoons with his little dirty hands WHILE the cashiers watched him and his mom and didn't say anything. I over heard the mom is Salvadorean while they were gossiping. I don't blame the toddle but the Adults I do. They should of let the mom know not to let her kid touching the stuff and replace the utensils.

We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and everything was presented really well. The enchiladas were flavorful, the grilled fish was cooked perfectly, and the tortillas with the short rib were a table favorite. Portions were great for sharing, and the sauces really tied everything together. Service was friendly and our server checked in on us throughout the night without making us feel rushed. It did get a little busy, so there were a few waits between courses, but nothing that took away from the experience. Overall Great atmosphere, solid food, and a fun place for birthdays or date nights. I'd definitely come back!!

Our waiter then told us we needed a specific Dine LA reservation, something that was never mentioned when I called or when I made the reservation. I've been to plenty of Dine LA restaurants and have never experienced this. The service wasn't necessarily bad, but it was very dismissive. No apology, no real explanation--they basically just brushed it off. Thankfully, the food saved the night! The Michelada oysters were TO DIE FOR--seriously one of the best oyster flavors I've ever had. We also had the short rib plate, which was delicious. The outdoor atmosphere and decor are really cute too. I would come back, but ONLY for those oysters--definitely not for the service.

Sonoratown was our first stop as it was highly recommended by my boyfriend's brother, and it did not disappoint. It immediately earned a spot in our top five favorite taco spots for carne asada in all of Southern California! The location that we went to is located in between Elysium DTLA and Perfumeria Starlux on E 8th St in downtown LA. There is only paid(?) street parking around the area that could be extremely difficult to find during work days. Because we couldn't snag a spot, my friends and I opted for takeout and didn't end up eating until about 30 minutes later. Despite the travel time, the tacos were still absolutely incredible--I can only imagine how spectacular it tastes fresh! My friends and I ordered the carne asada tacos, and my boyfriend opted for the cabeza. Before I even took a full bite, I tasted a piece of the loose carne asada and was blown away; it was perfectly cooked with a wonderful tenderness and deep smokiness. The use of a single, thin, handmade flour tortilla--rather than the standard double corn--was a total game-changer and exactly how I preferred my tacos. The salsas were equally impressive, offering fantastic flavor and a great kick. My boyfriend's cabeza taco was just as standout, featuring super-tender meat with a rich, savory profile. Wowowow! Between the exceptional meat quality, bold flavors, and great value, this is easily one of the best taco spots I've visited. It's a huge bummer that they don't have a location down in San Diego, but we will definitely be back!

Mostly crowded streets with metered parking. I got the chicken burrito. The tortilla was definitely the highlight and what really makes the burrito. Fresh, flavorful, and great texture. The filling itself tasted more like a standard burrito otherwise. Also tried the avocado sauce, which costs extra but was really good and worth adding. Overall solid spot. I'd come back to try the beef burrito and the chivichanga next time.

Cute building with lovely patio seating: from the trailing hanging pothos plants, Spanish tiles, to relaxing latin-house music the vibes were welcoming. I'm not much of a drinker though, when asked if I wanted to make my pina colada a "float" I thought incorrectly about ice cream. It was graciously explained that you take an additional shot of rum and float it on top of the drink or mix in to make it extra boozy. The pina colada is top notch they hollow out a real pineapple to make the drink and it's the size of your face! The watermelon cocktail was delicious and there is also a mezcal option. Tasted like if a watermelon aqua Fresca was combined with a margarita, there is a hint of salt that brings out the fruit sweetness. We special ordered a bunch of different proteins and vegetables at half portions to make a feast: Aguachile- Light refreshing starter, kanpachi perfectly marinated and great for the summer heat. Crispy potato- Phenomenally done fingerling potatoes. Whipped beans- Carnitas on top made this dish. Fried chicken tacos- Found the chicken slightly on the dry side, if there was a creamy/thicker sauce would be even better... nothing wrong with flavor, good mild heat. I did enjoy the fresh shredded cabbage and carrots, reminded me of bahn mi. Empanadas- Loved the acidity of the sauce that cut through the fattiness of the ground meat. Light shell. Crispy Squash flower- Delicate crunch, like an angelic version of a jalapeno popper. Lamb chops- Definition of "treat-yourself" luxurious meat lollipops. Celery salad- Simple dish but the lemon flavor and tartness really helped break up the richness of other dishes. Churros- Light crunch and small, petite dessert. The thin caramel sauce is addicting. Fine dining, for those special occasions or if you just want to splurge for a morale boost highly recommend this restaurant. Valet parking or park across the street or around the corner in a lot for $5-10.

For 2 we ordered: Small guac and chips - very fresh and good. Not spicy and not too much lime juice. Just good, solid, fresh, basic guacamole Erizo (uni) with the scallops - delish. Uno and scallops so fresh. Scallops are in a ceviche-style sauce under those beautiful sea urchins. Tostada de atún - also very good. Everything chopped perfectly. Not too much heat - some red onion in there. Ceviche of yellowtail - a big portion! Enough for more than two people for sure. Light fry, crema, tomato, lime Kanpachi collar (grilled)- comes on a big plate with tomatoes, avocado, beans and rice in a little bowl on side, fresh blue corn tortillas - my partner said this was his favorite thing. I was worried it had been so built up in my mind it wouldn't be worth the line and everything but it was great and would come back (and will!!)
