This fast food taco spot has multiple locations throughout Los Angeles. We visited the Broadway location and it was delicious! Where else can you get dinner for two for less than $20?! I ordered the asada taco, beans and cheese sopes and a side of rice while my husband got an al Pastor and a carnitas taco. You help yourself to their salsa bar and other toppings, like grilled peppers and onions, cilantro and onions. This was my first time trying the sopes and it did not disappoint. Good flavor and surprisingly filling; it looks deceptively small but it packs a punch! Place is not authentic as it once was. Had not been here in several years and the place seems to have gone into more of a corporate standpoint than actually authentic food. Don't get me wrong the food was still very good in comparison to some places. I just think for LA authentic it could do a lot better. LA has several authentic taco spots everywhere. I was in South Central LA working decided to this spot it look good. The lady suggested Mulitas I requested Al Pastor and Buchiea I ordered my food to eat there with horchata. The sides are free pintos beans and veggies omg it was delicious . They more look like quesadillas but different name the meat the cheese was so tasty totally price $12.89 and place was popping all nationalities were grubbing. Actually needed a bathroom. Large fast food place. I'm ok eating in return for bathroom access. I tried the bathroom it was locked with a key pad. I went to the counter told the girl I needed the bathroom code and would buy a coke in return and come back for food. I paid 3.71 for a coke, I asked for the code, she said you don't need one, I told her it was Locked and she said I didn't need one. I went and tried again, locked !! Prices here are extremely reasonable & my regular burrito was only $7.99. It was a huge plus that all the instructions were followed and that I got everything I asked for on the app. Taste wise, not the best, but certainly not the worst. Let's just say, when you order a burrito with any type of meat, be specific and tell them that you want very little rice and beans in the burrito. I've bit into my burrito and I literally couldn't find the chicken. That was a slight disappointment. I ended up taking the meat from my tacos and stuffed it inside my burrito. My boyfriend was speaking to the managers in Spanish but they all ignored me and they told him I could only get one thing. This situation made me feel like it was all racially motivated. If I can give this place zero or negative stars I would. Product Quality Assurance does not work as it does with other locations. I ordered sopes and they served the sope straight from a container. No freshness. No toppings. No add-ons. No authenticity. When asked for toppings and whether there was anything as simple as lettuce, they pointed me to a counter with very *few* toppings. I'm born/raised in Los Angeles and have never been served old and stale meat from any Gavilan chain. It is truly troubling to see pre-packaged containers like this before. I guarantee you, this is NOT how "easy" and cheap street food is served in Mexico and/or California. Stay away from this location or find another Gavilan chain in the area.
