I think this place deserves more stars after trying out their food today. I had the taco plate with cabeza and chorizo. Cabeza was super good, I highly recommend it. Chorizo, not so much, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I like the beans and rice and the salsas were pretty good too. All in all, I don't think this place is a 2.5 star place, and would recommend getting the cabeza tacos here to anyone. If given the chance, I'll come back and try the rest of the meats. Service was on point too so I don't know why the reviews talked bad about it. To anyone on the fence, I'd say definitely give this place a shot, you won't regret it. read more

Now i see why this place is always empty! I went to drive thru today with 2 combos and few tacos. Its absolutely worst tacos I've had. It seems that the meat is old or it sits for a while or something. Its just not fresh. Even the condiments/onions cilantro, was bagged in advanced. I loved coming here, everything was always super delicious and they were always so fast. Not till today when there was a hair on my food and I took it back to the cook ( the cashier was busy) and asked if they could remake it and he took it and automagically started laughing and talking to his coworkers about the situation. This made me extremely uncomfortable as i am now scared to even eat my food as they kept speaking and laughing about the situation as if they were getting joy out of what had happened. I ordered a burrito to eat there and they gave it wrapped up in foil and in a bag to go. I sat there anyways and ate it. The tortilla started tearing so I went up to the front and asked for a box to go so I could take it home. They said we don't have boxes we have bags. The lady handed over the bag. How do you not have boxes at a place that serves sopes, muitas etc. is beyond me. Also I seen the boxes stacked up in the front but I decided not to argue. Beware. Came here 3 weeks ago and my wife and niece got a stomach sick (if you know what I mean). We ate at the one on SG 2 weeks ago and everything is fine. Stomach was good. I came here to the Norwalk walk location again, thinking 3 weeks ago was something random. Nope, I was on the restroom all night. Stomach was hurting. Not sure what it is about this location. Service was good, no complaints there. Drive-tru was on point too. It looks nice, bright and clean. That's why I put 2 starts. I'm thinking their making to much food and not selling it quick enough, not sure. I won't be going back and it sucks since I live 2 blocks away. Horrible, we were excited to have a Gavilan next to us. Super disappointed! Another thing, not sure why the green sauce looks like Jello. I asked for the one with onions and it looks just like jello. This is not Mexican food. I could have gotten better from Del Taco. The chicken quesadilla was awful. Lacked cheese, chicken tasted sour. The Pastor tacos were disgusting. The meat was tough and dry. More attention was placed on the packaging then the food. Dont eat here. read more

I'm not a fan of this big chain. The only reason I came here was because my wife wanted to their Super Nachos. She quickly regretted her decision, after taking her first bite. My daughter said her cheese quesadilla was meh. One my boys ordered carne asada tacos, and said they were just ok. He didn't even want to finish them. My other son liked his bean and cheese burrito. Which I can agree, was the best thing, because when unwrapped it for him, I got a little bit of beans on my fingers and they were decent. My cabeza and buche tacos tasted like the meat had been sitting there for days. If you want real good tacos de cabeza, go to Tacos Estilo Guadalajara in Downey. The bean and cheese burrito was the best thing from my order. It baffles me that some consider this place to have good, or even great food. Toros Taqueria on Studebaker and Alondra is better than this place! Two of my kids said they'd prefer Taco Bell over Gavilan. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 star, is because the beans were decent, and the staff wasn't rude. At $35.50, I feel I definitely overpaid. read more

In my opinion this taco shop joint is one of the best around LA . Tasty food , fair priced menu & stores I been in to looked very CLEAN . In my lifetime I tried so many eateries .......holes in a wall up too very upscale spots . Something was always very noticeable for me about this joint ! Who ever owner(s) is (are) got to be very generous to their customers . The way tasty salsas , pickles carrots onions as well as open bar hot tasty pinto beans , speacialy NO extra charge for either items and individually wrapped uttensills . In my opinion order taking service / customer service could be easy 4 stars if most employees who are in direct communication with customers able to communicate enough in English . I usually go to the Downey location and was excited when I found out that this place was opening because it was a lot closer to me. However, I was incredibly disappointed with the quality of my tacos al pastor and wasn't even able to finish them. Tacos where cold and had too much fat on the asada. They forgot 2 tacos in my order, they should be double checking every order. The cilantro bags where tapped closed unlike other tacos gavillan, had to bust out the scissors to get to my food. Beans where cold and opened in the bag. You guys really should have done your research and sent your workers to train at other tacos gavillan or something because this is horrible compared to all other taco places I've been to. We Saw this tacos gavillan going up for so many months thinking finally there is one closer and I don't have to drive to Downey for my gavillan fix, but then you go and screw it up for all the people waiting. Do not come here! Worst service, got my simple order of bean, cheese, rice & avocado burrito wrong. No avocado & no rice, how?! Then the burrito is put together like they were scooping up trash instead of ingredients, fell completely apart. My favorite spot for BOMB chicken tacos! If you mainly eat Chicken Tacos over other meats then you know its hard to find a good spot. Love them here! It was my first time at this location & decided to go through the drive thru. They did not tell me my total at the screen or at the window(need to improve that), they should also ask what sides you want( they included cilantro/onion bag, lemon, green salsa & red salsa) I normally get the beans, carrot/jalapeño, and the cooked chile I assumed they would include it but they did not. read more

I came to pay this place a visit for lunch and man was it a horrible experience. First off not everything was on the menu at the time when ordering from the drive thru. As soon as I was about to pick up the food that I ordered they had forgotten two items that I ordered. I went around back to pick up the food they forgot and kept telling me no everything was in there. I had ordered two sopes and a side of rice. The sopes were cold and were as stale as cardboard.
