I've been coming here for years and I'm never disappointed. I've tried their tacos, tortas, arroz con frijoles, and guac and they're all so bomb! I always get the pastor or chicken and it's always delicious. The green salsa is so good and it's always spicy. Today I tried the barbacoa, and it was a bit oily but still good. My order was to-go, so I'm sure that had something to do with it. The tacos are a good size and they don't skimp like most places do these days. The guacamole is good on its own, but I always add salt and lime to give it a bit extra flavor. The customer service is not good (would've been five stars), but the food is so good I always ignore the bad attitudes. They really hate when you ask for stuff at the window, lol. I found this place few months back. It is easily my favorite place to eat. Everything they make is fresh, simple and cheap. I never had authentic Mexican food. However, I feel that it's pretty close to authentic. Their breakfast on the weekends is really recommended. They have probably the best breakfast tacos that I ever had. Authentic tacos for CHEAP. like around $2. And they were delicious! It's in a strip mall and can easily go by unnoticed if you're not paying attention to your surroundings. The tacos are good because they're simple, homemade, and deliver on flavor/texture/everything. I got cochinita pibil and tripe tacos. The cochinita pibil was a mess to eat, but so worth it because the meatiness of the roasted pork and the spices/juices just make this incredible combination. Eat that with the two complimentary sauces and it is some good stuff. The tacos are a little small, so probably get 3 to 5 (depending on how hungry you are -- I'm a fairly small person and don't eat a lot but I could probably take down 3 - 4 if I were hungry enough). There's plenty of seating inside, but don't expect anything fancy. It's down-to-earth, authentic Latino ambience. The people are friendly and welcoming, so don't be afraid to sit down and watch some football (no not NFL football). Will come back for more tacos before I leave Houston, no doubt about that. read more

Even inside there was a pawn shop style separation from the kitchen and the large dining room. That being said, I did appreciate the location nearby the Hilton Houston Southwest, which always has good room rates when I'm visiting. I can't say this is going I rank up with the best tacos I've had in Houston over the years, but it is hard to beat then on price. Not a fan of their nachos. I certainly would see myself using this as a standby if I frequented the area, but having low expectations might have helped my favorable impression. read more

First time here and I'm already hooked! Arrived close to 1p on a Tues and the restaurant was still busy. Quick to order but all the tables were taken. Luckily we waited about 3-5 min until a big group freed up 3 tables. There's so much to try on the menu but for this first visit, I stuck with an order of 3 tacos. There are several fillings to choose from and also a choice between corn or flour tortilla. I chose beef fajita, chicken fajita, and trompo (pork) in flour tortilla with cilantro and onion (optional). Amazing flavor for all three. Not overly dressed up like tacos from a tex mex joint so you can actually taste the flavor in the meat! I liked the beef the best for its moistness. The trompo I thought was a little dry so I added the cilantro cream sauce. Definitely coming back to try the breakfast menu, tortas, and the burritos!! read more

The food is great, consistent and good portions. They changed the horchata recipe! Why? Everything is part of the experience. The spicy fresh green salsa, the pieces of pineapple in the pastor, but they decided to go cheap and now the horchata tastes HORRIBLE. I am thankful for this place. For an area that seems starving for good restaurants (am I wrong? Would happily be proven incorrect!), this is one that I hope stays for a while. The place had great reviews and I decided to check it out. First of all, I am from Mexico and I like to think my taste is pretty accurate for authentic Mexican food such as Mexican Tacos! I ordered the trompo and fajitas on corn and the charro beans. The trompo was good but it has pineapple which was too sweet for my taste. It was good though. The fajita was better than the trompo BUT average or below average for fajita tacos. The frijoles were also average...they had too many side condiments and not enough beans (I had to fish around for them) I've had better and I've had worse that's why I'm rating it with 3 stars. Worst taco place I've visited. If you know Mexican food , then everything will disappoint. The meat was dry and tortillas were barely heated. Imagine your favorite awesome authentic Mexican food truck, and think better. The meat here is completely flavorful, and the salsas are just right. Onion and cilantro are standard of course, and ask for some lime to finish things off. This place is always packed during lunch time, so keep in mind, it might actually be difficult to get a seat here at times. The staff is always friendly, and makes your tacos to order each time. Saw the yelp reviews, was in area, stopped by. Really like the atmosphere and layout of the place with the little order window inside and the pickup window on the other side! I got three tacos - Trompo, Cocinita Pibil, Barbacao. All on corn with cilantro and onions. The Trompo and Pibil were ok, 2.5 stars. The barbacoa was good, 4 stars. It seems like Houston does Barbacoa really well typically. The corn tortillas were just like store bought, slightly heated up torillas and not fresh made. The green salsa was really watery and I had to use a ton for it to impart any flavor on these tacos. On the plus side, it was really cheap, I got three tacos and a dr. pepper for $6.30 - almost seems like a mistake??! But still, where are the great tacos in Houston, I must find them... read more
