Emelia was my pleasant server today. She was prompt and friendly. Up beat Mexican music plays in the background. The staff is dressed in a traditional style. This place is very traditionally decorated as well. The booths have lovely pastoral murals. The chairs have colorful painted and carved floral motifs. Colorful Mexican tile on the tables and booths. I feel like I have arrived in Puerto Vallarta. The ceiling is festooned with little cutouts and tiny piñatas. There are sombreros and vintage Mexican pictures gracing the walls. All in all a happy vibe here. Sometimes some of the staff will break out in song or dance if an especially fun song is playing. They serve thick crispy homemade chips with a sauce like salsa that is tasty and mildly spiced. I ordered the taco salad with Carnitas. The shell was crunchy and the carnitas were tender and moist. It was topped with sour cream and guacamole. I was tasty. It is a small restaurant with 11 tables. They do have a full bar also. They do a very brisk takeout business as well. We were looking for a new Taco Tuesday. I loved Tacos Las Salsa downtown and decided to try this location. Last week was great. My order was perfect. I waited 15 minutes today to be acknowledged. I ordered their family pack, which is advertised as $39.99 (20 tacos, rice, and beans). I asked for 15 asada and 5 pastor. Adtwr waiting 45 minutes, I ended up with 20 asada, three of which were garnished. They gave me the hot salsa, and I asked for mild. I get home, and our order is screwed. I sure as hell I am not going back to fix the order. Also, I'm not sure how our order came out to $47.00. I looked at my receipt and was overcharged with $43.70 being the total of the family platter plus tax. read more

We ordered some corona and lime for Cinco de Mayo, they brought us corona and lemons... that alone tells you this place is TRASH! We waited for 10 minutes before they took our order. We ordered carne asada tacos, and they brought them out fairly quickly, though they didn't give us any salsa. I had to leave the table to request some. My favorite Mexican restaurant on the NW. It has a very authentic Mexican feel to it. They make you feel like you are family when you walk in and the staff make you feel welcomed. The food is absolutely delicious. I'm a huge fan of the enchiladas both the suizas and the shrimp with the creamy garlic sauce. My spouse loves the carnitas and tacos. I really don't like leaving a negative review but feel like this place does deserve this review. Our first time here . We split the fajitas tria . These were by far the worst fajitas I've had in Bakersfield. No flavor and the beef tasted like it was going bad. The guacamole was horrible. Beans watery . Chips and salsa were not bad. When we got the bill , the amounts did not match what the menu said that the food costs . The server said it because the menu is old so the prices are not correct. She pointed to the front of the menu that says " prices can change without notice " I would not recommend a place that does business this way . I feel that is dishonest. read more

This place has been a hidden gem of Bakersfield for many years. It was my all time favorite Mexican restaurant for the longest time. But recently something has changed and it is unfortunate because I love this place. But recently service has declined waiting for food for over 45 minutes only to have the food come out barely warm to the touch. Their chips and salsa are the best part. Refills are scarce too. Every time my lady and I go to Tacos La Salsas we are never disappointed. The food is always great, and prices are very fair. The homemade chips are such a huge selling point. Everywhere else that uses premade/bought chips just doesn't hit as well as tacos la salsas. They have a huge variety of different hot sauces and salsas. Everything on their menu is delicious. Not once have I been too scared to try something new there and not enjoy it. Their beans and rice are simply amazing, they always come out hot with melted cheese, and the rice nice and fluffy. The San Diego burrito is always my go to favorite. Their service can be a little slow sometimes when they are busy, BUT there's a reason why they are busy because their food is BANGING. This place is one of my top tier Mexican restaurants to go to in Bakersfield, and I recommend everyone to give it a try. Ever since I found our they existed, I go here all the time. Especially since it's so close. A regular order from me: Tacos in whatever protein they have available, all the salsa and limes, and a large horchata. The horchata is a must! There has been more than one time I go to them for an order to go, take if home and ravage the dish like a starved animal. I'm like a werewolf on a full moon, the tacos are gone immediately. Their salsas are so good, I dont know the names but they have a green and this roasted one that are superb. The plan next time is to try their ceviche, they have such a large menu its easy to pick what you want. Waitress was very rushed and rude. She brought partial of our drink order and forgot the rest of our drinks. When she finally remembered my drink, she then told me that it would be 15 minutes until the drink was ready. She never stated that when she took the initial order. The food took 40 minutes to come out. The remainder of the experience, the waitress was very rude and seemed rushed. She was acting rushed, but everything was a long wait. First off, thanks to fellow Yelper, Marisa P., for recommending Tacos Las Salsas. My friend and I went in earlyish on a week night. Place wasn't too busy. We were told to choose a place to sit. A server came over, gave us menus and took our drink orders. Chips, salsa and a noodle soup arrived, then our drinks. Chips and salsa were good. Noodle soup was a nice touch. Simple, but tasty. I ordered the Chicken Villa and my friend ordered the combo with a cheese enchilada and shredded beef taco. Food came out pretty quickly. My dish was chunks of chicken, onions, mushrooms and jalapeños with cream sauce and cheese. I ate it with homemade flour tortillas. Yum! The rice was nice and moist and the beans had good flavor. Being Mexican means it's a once in a blue moon occasion for us to actually got out for next Mexican food so when we do it better be good. My parents found this hole in the wall place and I decided to give it a go. Glad I did! They have homemade tortillas and the rice and beans taste freshly made and never having been sitting out. I got the shrimp burrito and my mom got the Azteca soup. Both were huge portions and delicious! I am not usually a picky eater and will eat just about anything but this.... This is definitely not authentic Mexican food and was very underwhelming upon tasting it. All of the food my family and I ordered was lukewarm. I ordered the chicken tacos dorados combo and was quite disappointed. I ordered online and it was described as coming with guacamole and I believe crema, but it only came with lots of cold lettuce and tomato which made the lukewarm taco feel even colder. The chicken itself was very bland and had no flavor. The rice and beans were eh. And the salsa that came with the chips was more of a watery tomato soup than salsa. My husband ordered a burrito and two tacos all of which he didn't like. We ended up not finishing our meals. read more

They over charge for tacos on Tuesdays!! The sign outside says $1.50 but they tell you $1.59 inside. You ask why and the lady tells you because you used your card. I'm guessing you have to used cash to get that price but it never said that on their sign outside. To make matters worse I check my receipt and she charges me for 11 tacos when I ordered 10!! A burrito with choice of meat is 8.99 however my son only wanted beans and cheese. That bean and cheese burrito cost us 13.99......in what world?? I was told because "it has so much cheese.
