Well...it's not Taqueria Sinaloa nor the Guadalajara Taco Truck nor Mariscos La Costa in Oakland... But when one of your best foodie buddies is a taco maniac, it's hard to compare! This taco truck is literally just a 5 minute walk away from my house perched right outside of Central Foods -- it seems to always be there 7 days a week, 8 hours a day. (Maybe more!) So, that's the great thing about this place -- if I NEED a taco fix..it's RIGHT there! Nonetheless, here's what I tried out today: 1) Tacos, $1.25 - Corn tortillas are too soft and not crispy enough for my liking - Good selection of meats, but the Al Pastor, Carnitas, and Chicken aren't nearly as tasty as the ones in Oakland. Could use more seasoning/strong flavors* - Opt for the steak! It's quite tender 2) Torta, $5- - I've tried the steak torta, which is wrapped up in a simple bread with sour cream, shredded lettuce, and jalapenos. Quite messy and very filling! One torta (along with a taco each) definitely filled up my sister and me! *NOTE*: They don't serve avocado at the taco truck. But, you can easily walk into Central Foods and purchase one for about 79 cents. (Which is what we did, and I whipped up a quick guacamole for our snackage). And they do NOT serve horchata here =(. I've always seen this truck and decided to give it a try. I approached with a smile and I was put off with the cashier's attitude at first. I was tired and I really didn't care so I ignored her little attitude and chalked it up to her being young-minded. I ordered the carne asada tacos and they were okay, nothing to write home about. The salsa was good. I'm more a red-salsa fan but the green salsa was my preference from this truck. I'll give this truck another try but I'll stick to my fav on 21st n MacDonald. read more

I stopped by this truck because I always see a lot of people there, so I thought it would be some good burritos. I don't know how so many people said "best taco truck!" This truck by far is one of the worst truck I've been to. I ordered an Al Pastor burrito; meat got no taste and it's not even spicy! Normally love this spot. I came across a rude cashier who told me her name is Lorena... after not wanting to give her name. I order 3 carne asada tacos and a corn tortilla quesadilla with just cheese. Then another three carne asada tacos separate for my mom. She gives me a flour quesadilla and six CARNITAS TACOS!!! I don't eat pork... I've been coming to you guys for years and this was the only bad experience I've ever had. I tried to call the phone numbers listed and no answer. I might not ever be back if she continues to not listen to her customers and have attitude. She also refused to give me two packets of jalapeños and carrots. The tacos and quesadillas are spot on; the burritos however...? They have too much rice half the time, and when you ask for 2 salsas they give you 1&1/2. I work up the road from here and frequent this place a lot for my lunch burritos: Shredded chicken, no onions. The staff is as friendly as it gets for a busy place like this. they are constantly moving and keeping orders going. I recently discovered that they serve sopes here and tried them when we stopped by for a late breakfast last weekend. I had four sopes with carne asada....BOMB.com. They were so good and tasted home made. Not what I expected. I assumed they would take frozen or something but they tasted fresh! Super delish! This is my go-to taco truck. Not because it's in my neighborhood, but because it was the one I went to as a kid. This taco truck has been parked in the front of Central Foods for as long as I can remember, it seems. It's not the best Mexican food you can find in the Bay, but it's sure good for El Sobrante and the prices are good too. I can't justify spending $2 each somewhere else for tacos this size. They have a few picnic tables in front of the ordering area, so there's some seating, but it's not covered. You can choose to wait out your order inside the market in the same parking lot, or just enjoy the weather at the tables. They have green and red salsa and they offer the pickled jalapeños and carrots. If you ask, they'll give you a lime. This taco truck is pretty fast compared to some of the Richmond ones. The men and women inside the truck are super friendly too. I've found that some Richmond taco trucks get angry or upset if you don't speak Spanish, but that's definitely not the case here. READ: i ordered 6 tacos. 2 asada, 2 carnitas, 2 tripas. I ordered them with onions and cilantro and added refried beans. I have to say, and i domt say it lightly, some of the best tacos ive ever had. Theres only one other place that is on this level and thats in oakland. This is why: the tortillas werent falling apart, the tortillas werent greasy, they werent soggy either or hard, just right. And the meat, excellent not over or under cooked and the seasoning was excellent especially on the asada. Not everyone likes tripas but if your fan this was excellent they werent hella greasy and they were crispy but not too crispy. And last but not least the salsa was one of the best. On the spicier side so its not just tomatoe sauce for those that dont like it too spicy i say lightly add it for those that want the full flavor add all of it, its not too spicy but very flavorful. Everything was very fresh from the meat to the torilla everything. I also had an horchata, it wasnt too sweet which i hate good cinimon flavor right on, id like it even less sweet but this was tolerable. I would give this place 8/10, they even had tables i would add some umbrellas cause its gonna be hot and i would say the lady should smile more but she wasnt rude oh and they take card! read more

Subpar burritos. I've ordered from here a few times now because I like to give second chances. This time we ordered a veggie super burrito and it was extremely disappointing. The people working were friendly enough, but the burrito barely had any veggies and we couldn't even find beans! Just lettuce, carrots and pickled jalapeños. I've come here a couple of times with my boyfriend and it's pretty good. I usually order the steak burritos and let me tell you that they are huge especially for a cheap price. The burrito is probably the size of my forearm in length. They are super friendly here and fast. As for the taste with the steak burritos, sometimes it's a hit or a miss with me. It's been years since I've tried tacos that are not from LA FLOR DE JALISCO on 21st in Richmond or LOS PRIMOS... But here they come right close to them both! I always get asada and al pastor, they have no fat and the portions are just right! Their salsa is the bomb too! I'm giving 3 stars because although the food is good, the ladies behind the counter are rude as fuck. No manners. I even said please and thank you after everything and still didn't get a response. I don't think I will be going back and if I do I will end up telling her off. After dealing with her it makes you not want to even eat the food. Everytime I drive past this truck, there's always a line so I finally tried it. My fiancé decided to grab us a couple of super burritos to try, chicken for him and steak for me. We also switched and took bites from each other and we both agreed that it was good. I actually didn't go to the truck myself but the mister said that the wait took a while. THE BEST TACOS. period. My husband and I tried this taco truck on a whim a few years back and we have been faithfully returning ever since. It used to be our weekend ritual to ride our bikes down the road to enjoy these tasty treats, but it got a little out of hand, so now we go for a special treat. If ever we have company from out of town, we insist they try their tacos. Just delicious! We usually get tacos, but their burritos are fabulous. It doesn't get cheaper and the flavor is literally the best I've ever had - moist, tender meat and incredible spices. I might go down and get another right now. I think it's Sunday that they're closed. I've discovered that as a sad surprise when I've gone there hoping for a hangover cure. Oh, and Central Market is great, too.
