Service was so homely and inviting . Ambiance was decent it had a certain atmosphere to it. The food was as good as people say though I'd love to try more of the menu.

Stopped in before a comedy show because our friend wanted the gingerbread torta. It was so cute we felt obligated to get it! The bread was beautiful but overall it definitely did not have a lot of meat on it to be $25. We waited an hour for to go, but it was a pretty busy night. We got the birria tacos as well which had yummy crispy tortillas but the flavors of the meat weren't like the birria we had the weekend before. The consommé made up for it. I would try it again when we weren't in a hurry, but not sure I would buy the $25 sandwich again. The cucumber chia seed drink was so refreshing! Our friends got the marzipan horchata and it was THICC. Very sweet.

I ordered for pickup and they were ready on time. Super friendly people. The burrito is greasier than I'm used to. The ramen was interesting. I think I'm just not used to that kind of flavor, but it was still very good. The way they package everything is so thoughtful.

Filling birria full meal! We got a hot chocolate horchata, birria ramen with quesobirria, & birria torta! The server was attentive & patient with how busy it was around dinner time. It's a sit yourself shop so you are at will of the people in there. Luckily we found a spot & were able to eat the meal within an hour time frame. I loved the plate designs & the food was presented beautifully. It was very filling & flavorful. There was some cheese pulls too! The birria ramen broth was thicker than the consome. Both soups good but made the ramen very heavy.

We decided to go try out Tacotlán after seeing it all over TikTok! The inside is busy, but we were sat immediately. They have an extensive birria menu that I think is the main reason for all of the hype! The birria ramen was huge! The food came out piping hot and was delicious. I had the build your own burrito with Al pastor and added avocado. The food tasted authentic and had loads of flavor. They also have tons of agua fresca flavors! I had the tamarindo. Overall the service was friendly and speedy! It was a rainy day, but the patio outside looked cute.

3 birria tacos for $19.94. I feel like there should be more to go with this besides the consommé.

Okay, let me start by saying that as far as the location goes, it reminds me of a neighborhood hole-in-the-wall type place. There weren't too many tables, the floor was damaged and the overall appearance was a bit dingy. The service was nice and friendly. The food was good. I was expecting "great", based upon all the other reviews here on Yelp. It was decent. The birria tacos satisfied my hunger but not my cravings. I also felt that it's a bit overpriced.

Ordered some food for delivery and was pleasantly surprised! The food was made quickly and was well-packaged. I loved that it's a birria-heavy menu. I ordered the birria grilled cheese and was not disappointed. Tons of meat!! Though I wish there was a bit more cheese. My partner got tacos and they were pretty tasty, though nothing spectacular. Came across Tacotlon on DoorDash and wanted to try a new taco spot. When you can't decide but definitely want birria the sampler is a great option! I was only able to eat 2 tacos (chicken and steak) and very full. The consume tastes better when you add the salsa and stir really well, dip, and enjoy! I will definitely order from here again!

We ordered takeout from Tacotlan and it was pretty good. I heard it was a bit better before, nevertheless, I enjoyed my meal. I ordered the birria taco special and my friend ordered a few tacos. The birria taco deal was around $17 for 3 tacos and a small side of rice and beans. I would say this is on the pricier side for tacos outside of downtown. I felt like the rice and beans were pretty bland, so I recommend skipping those. Pick up was very easy and the staff inside was kind. The restaurant itself seems pretty small, but there appears to be a few tables for dine in. Pretty good and I would probably eat it again.

Great local restaurant! I've always heard good things so I decided to come with some friends. Space is very lively and the staff are super friendly. We came on a sunday in the early afternoon, the wait was about 20ish minutes for a group of 3, so not bad. I got the chilaquiles, and they were delicious. Nice and crispy, lots of flavor. I hope to come back again and try the birria!

Came here twice because of the ratings and it's family owned and they're known for their birria tacos. During The first visit, we gave the birria beef tacos a try and those were excellent. I enjoyed the consomme which comes in a tall Styrofoam cup. FYI, Their Mexican style cooking is from the region Northwest of Mexico City. We also enjoyed the steak burritos, carne asada tacos and lengua (beef tongue tacos), which were so very, very soft. It's street parking and byob and expect a lot of local amigas y amigos. Great service from the daughters who are very much hands on in running the business.

YUMMMMMM those birria tacos are no joke!!!!! My mouth was savoring thinking of them They have crunchy outside shells with delicious juicy and flavorful shredded meat inside. We forgot to order rice and beans so we will have to do that next time. DEFINITELY have to try this spot!!! read more

The food was good but the service was extremely slow to receive the food as well as to pay the tab. There was only one waitress so it was a bit frustrating. The price was reasonable. The ambiance was ok maybe some music can help lighten the atmosphere. Other than that it was decent. read more

Wanted to come here for the birria but unfortunately they were out. They told us we could sub the meat for chicken or steak which is what we did. We were pleasantly surprised when we took a bite of the chicken it was so good! We also got one steak it wasn't bad but not anything special. I'd recommend coming earlier in the day but great food and great service. read more

It was my first time trying birria tacos and I wasn't disappointed! I got the 3 birria tacos that included the broth for dipping the tacos. You need to request salsa or limes, as they're not automatically included. We ordered and went to the cute back patio to wait for our order. The asked for my phone number to call me when the order was ready, but they ended up bringing our food outside to our table. All the employees were super friendly and helpful, despite a busy Friday dinner service. I would definitely recommend this place! read more

Ordered the Birria ramen combo, it was good. A little different but good. Some of the photos are misleading, I thought the ramen comes with 3 quesadillas since it cost $16 but there's only one. You do get a good portion of meat in the consomme. They do have a number but no one's answer it. The quesadilla also has a deep fried shell, so it's not the soft tortilla I was expecting. It's also not crunch because it's wet. It just ends up being hard and tough to bite. The flavor is good, especially after some lemon squeeze. I assume it's because so many people put seasoning packets in without looking at the vender's description to not to after trying the ramen, so they make the consomme quite bland. It looks flavorful but taste kind of like hot salt water. It wasn't spicy, not sweet either, can't taste any spice either. After you add the seasoning packet it does make the flavor a lot better. Over all the meat was cooked well, and a fun experience. I wouldn't go out of my way to get it again but if you are in the area it's worth trying. read more

Had to make a trip to Tacotlan once I seen the Lalo taco with shrimp ( Lalo on the beach ) been following them on social media and needed to try the food . My review is as follows 1. Lalo on the beach ******* Great flavor and outstanding portion size of tasty steak and shrimp the sauces complement the taco perfectly a fantastic taco 2. Rajas con queso ****** I did not think it was going to be good but I was pleasantly surprised and wish I ordered more tacos . 3. Carne asada **** One of the better carne asada tacos I've tried matches with the green salsa 4. Chorizo ***** Some chorizo is salty but surprisingly this one was balanced ...add salsa and it's a hit 5. Pollo ****** Not a fan of chicken tacos because of how dry they become if you dont eat them right away but it was not the case with this taco great flavor . I'm from Cali for I get Birria tacos all the time but this place is top two I have ever tried! I ordered the birria quesadilla because it has the cheese in it. They are not skimpy with the cheese it is fantastic! The tacos come with three in an order but they are big so it's enough to share. That consumè is on point! You must try this place read more

Kept seeing this place all over my Instagram. My bf and I finally decided to try it. We ordered 3 birria tacos (steak) with consommé and one order of the birria ramen. The tacos were pretty good and my bf loved them. The consommé was decent and was nice to dip the tacos into. The ramen unfortunately was way too salty for us. My bf and I really tried to ignore the salt but we couldn't continue eating it. The birria in the ramen was good but the salt just over took everything. I was a little disappointing since the ramen dish was $16 and we couldn't finish due to the salt. I would probably only get the tacos again if I were to go back. read more

Their Birria quesadillas are so popular that sometimes they sell out and they have to stop taking orders. I'm lucky I don't live too far of a drive and usually just hop on their cashdrop app as soon as they open and can usually get my order done in 30 min. Think I'm a little obsessive? I cant be the only one because when I hop on when they open, sometimes there are a few ahead of me already! Anyway, I love dipping their Birria tacos in their consommé. I've tried the Ramen and a really cool concept, but I think I now prefer just getting a couple of their Birria tacos and consommé. It's meaty, a little crispy, it's savory it's a great meal. You must try other things on their menu too--their carne asada and chorizo tacos are great. The only negative was the carne asada fries. The meat was great but the fries were way over-done to burnt. I've seen their Instagram and pics of the fries looked perfectly done. Guess mine was more of an anomaly. Pick up is a breeze. Once you are summoned by the app that your order is ready, just walk in--Masks on please--and your order is packaged neatly and very secure for a car ride back home. read more

Rude servers! Visited the other day with a few friends & had placed an online pickup, we decided we'd like to eat in once we picked up our food & the young lady had told us " you can't eat here if you placed pick up" mind you NO ONE was seated inside it was empty, my friend later wanted to purchase a hello kitty cup so we sat down and decided we'll purchase a few drinks . As soon we we sat the girl aggressively came to our table and stated " i said this was for dine in only " At that point we had just left, what a way to treat your customers when mind you we had already spent a good $30 on our pick up order. read more

I needed to experience birria tacos before 2020 ended and it was definitely one of the highlights of this year. I ordered the birria quesadilla and a side of chips and guacamole. The order came with three tacos and consome. The chips were a little on the oily side for me and the guacamole was missing a hint of salt and lime, however when I put the guac on my tacos, it tasted absolutely fantastic. The consome was delicious and the heat that radiated out of it not only tasted good but also felt good in a comforting way. This is one of those meals where you eat it and then immediately take a nap. I'll definitely need to go back to try the birria ramen. read more

You HAVE to check this place out!! Sooo good! I got the birria tacos and the birria quesadillas with the ramen to dip in.. o m g. First of all I hate tacos... THERE I SAID IT. I really really really do not like tacos. I never like the way I feel after eating them, and there's always something I just don't like (and yes yes, I'm not taking about taco bell hard shell tacos, I mean the authentic ones too). But these. These tacos are life altering. Life changing. When I tell you my eyes bulged out of my head because these tacos were so good, I -. Heaven in a ramen cup. The smell is amazing & had my stomach growling We ordered the birria ramen combo. It's a bowl of tapitio ramen (spicy or regular) a huge to go container of consommé and 1 quest birria taco. We went with spicy because we are picante That taco was crispy and cheesy with tender meat and omg dunk it in consommé and let it drip down your hands y'all. It's a lot of food and I couldn't finish it but I sure tried. We will definitely return when we come to the big city. The staff is friendly and helpful. read more

With the queso birria taco craze sweeping Chicago we thought we'd try one of the originals... so glad we did! The tacos were crispy and stuffed with slow roasted shredded beef. The star of the show is the dipping juice though. Perfectly balanced beef tasting broth.. it's actually drinkable. In the early 90’s, Everardo Macias (father and co-owner) opened a restaurant named El Ponchado. Unfortunately the restaurant didn’t do well and after 5 years in business, he decided to close and rent it to another small business. After seeing how devastated he was when he had to close his first restaurant when she was a teenager, when he decided to open up another restaurant, Jessica Perjes (daughter and co-owner) vowed to never allow her father to feel defeated again and decided partner up with him. Fast forward to 2018, Tacotlán was born in the same location El Ponchado was once in! It first started off as a regular taqueria until the pandemic hit in 2020. The father and daughter duo knew that they had to be creative to survive. Already introduced to their restaurant in 2019, they decided to bring the quesabirria back once again because they saw that it was a dish that was gaining popularity in California because it was a dish that was being made with beef instead of goat. Serving the quesabirria started off as a special for the weekends only but after seeing that the quesabirria was selling out every day, they decided to keep it on the menu permanently. Now the quesabirria is the top-seller of the restaurant and they have an extensive birria menu. This duo has not only been featured in the Chicago Tribune, WGN, ABC News, B96, Chicago’s Best, named a small business all-pro with the Chicago Bears but they have even catered to music groups like Tigres del Norte.

Established in 2018.

Everardo Macias, an immigrant from Jalisco decided to open a Mexican restaurant in 2017. He put his blood, sweat and tears into renovating the restaurant into what it is today. With help from his daughter Jessica and her own vision of what place should look like, Tacotlan was born.

I had high expectations for this hyped restaurant and eagerly visited to try their aguachela. Despite its convenient location from the suburbs, I was disappointed by the $10 price on a 32oz natural mango water, which I felt was overpriced compared to other places. The drink itself was just average. Additionally, being seated next to the trash can was not ideal, although the staff was friendly. Our meal included tacos de asada, lengua, and birria flautas. While the carne asada tacos were dry and unseasoned, the tacos de lengua were a delightful surprise with their seared top and tender bottom. I highly recommend trying the tacos de lengua. However, the birria flautas were a letdown in terms of both presentation and quality. They lacked the traditional accompaniments of rice and beans, and the overcooked and crunchy birria did not justify the dish's high price of $13. Furthermore, I was appalled by the kitchen hygiene practices I witnessed. The individual serving the rice used his gloved hand as a scoop, touching non-food contact surfaces like the refrigerator handle without sanitizing or changing his gloves. At one point, that same individual had left his work station, returned without having to sanitize or replace his gloves, which was concerning from a food safety standpoint. These observations left me with serious reservations about the overall cleanliness and hygiene standards of the restaurant. In conclusion, while Tacotlan had its highlights with the delicious tacos de lengua and friendly staff, there were several significant drawbacks that overshadowed the experience. The overpriced mango water, lackluster presentation and quality of the birria flautas, and concerning kitchen hygiene practices were disappointing aspects of the visit. With room for improvement in pricing, presentation, and hygiene standards, Tacotlan falls short of living up to the hype. I would recommend potential diners to approach this restaurant with caution and consider other options available in the area. read more

Why wasn't I impressed by the food here, which is FLAVORFUL and SERVED IN GENEROUS SERVINGS? I'll tell you... First and foremost, this is a small restaurant. When I walked in, I noticed that all of the booths were completely occupied. I didn't get a greeting. I felt like I was standing right in the middle of Times Square, surrounded by people who and completely ignored. But okay, let's just say they're busy. I went over to the cash register, and for the first time, someone acknowledged me. She appeared dissatisfied because all of the seats were taken, and the ones that were left had dirty dishes on them. I was seated after she asked someone to clean a table for me. There were a lot of options on the menu, but I wasn't impressed because some of them were unavailable. Tacos of various sizes, Platillos, and Birria. I chose a Birria Quesadilla Frita. It's a good size, and it fills me up. The sauce, on the other hand, is not what I'm used to, but it's fine. My husband picked up some tacos on his way home. I asked him to go to Tacotlan because I came across the Instagram page and they looked very appetizing. We got a little bit of everything. The asada (not lalos) was ok in texture, but it lacked flavor, no flavor at all. The lalos was basically asada but bigger chunks of meat for more money (not really worth it.) Al pastor was way too sweet, it didn't have that spicy kick to it. I didn't try the chorizo, but my husband did and he said it was good. Rajas con queso was basically just rajas and like one string of queso. Now the salsas.... their red salsa was pretty bad not gonna lie. The green salsa was ok. Also- ask for limones or you won't be given any. The girl at the counter was nice though, according to my husband. Overall, I don't think I'll come back unless I want to get only chorizo tacos with only green salsa. But at least we tried it. read more

Im a Birria snob , I don't like just any birria but this def has to be one of the best ones I've had . I met the owner very down to earth , señor Lalo really funny and humble . I live in Atlanta and I asked him to open one down here we need this kind of deliciousness down here too !!!
