Spicy garlic edamame and spicy tuna on crunchy rice
Patty C.

I'm going to be moving from Scotts Valley to Boulder Creek soon so I thought I would spend the afternoon checking out some shops and trying this awesome sushi place I heard about. I was greeted right away by Tae the owner. I sat at the bar and talked to him for a bit. He's been at that location for 12 years and is from Korea. All of the staff was very nice. The locals kept coming in to dine in or get take out. It was really picking up but Tae kept cranking out the delicious food. I really enjoyed the flavor of the edamame. So much better than a plain bowl of it. Also I really liked that the spicy tuna with crispy rice was bite sized. So many places make them really big and it's awkward to pick up with chopsticks. The hamachi was really fresh too. Great experience all around. I'll definitely be back.

I grew up coming to Boulder Creek nearly every summer of my life. We used to frequent the Mexican restaurant in this location when I was little and I always enjoyed seeing the creek outside the window and patio. It was my first time trying Tae's Edo Sushi during my trip this summer with my dad and husband. They were busy on a Friday evening but we were quickly seated and to my joy, by the window where I saw a buck walking along the creek. Service was excellent and the rolls were all delicious! I really enjoyed the FX spider roll and the Roxy roll (special). The owners are hard working and very friendly! Best of luck and hope to dine here again!

You know that feeling when you're eating something and you just close your eyes and you don't care how how you're eating. I felt that here. A group of 3 came in at 7:30 trying to get Togo since the place closed at 8. But they insisted we sit and order, he got us seated took our order and was over all great service. We had 3 rolls and udon and WOW. I loved my plate thank you guys for the amazing sushi! I had ordered the route 35 roll and MAN. was it it great!

I was passed by the quality of the sushi in this out of the way spot. The menu had tons of delicious looking options and the husband and wife team were super friendly. There's an outdoor space that I imagine could be used for seating in the warmer months. If you're prissy, you should know that you have to go outside to get to the bathroom.

Popped in for lunch on our way to Brookdale lodge. Amazing view of boulder creek from The dining room and the staff was super kind and helpful. Food and sake was delicious. They even have my favorite kind of roll, cucumber wrapped!

Charming neighborhood sushi joint in Boulder Creek. The Red Dragon roll was delicious. Fresh, tasty, and fast service. My waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely stop by if you're in the area!

I have not been here in a long time. They are open with very limited hours which don't work with my schedule. Very slow service, tonight, but they were busy. No more complimentary miso soup and salad, while you wait for your main courses. Kind of a bummer, but these cut backs seem to be a trend nowadays. I don't normally get rolls. I don't care for the standard California roll base with some kind of toppings and gloppy sauces. I was with a person who likes these, so I obliged. I ordered some Nigiri which was a decent cut and minimal rice. However, after the long wait and hungry. I neglected to get pictures of the Nigiri. I like the owner and his family. They do a good job, as best they can. I will be back, someday. My son liked all the gloppy rolls, so it was a win.

What an amazing treasure up in the redwoods of Boulder Creek. The food is amazing - very fresh and tasty. Outstanding service with an attentive, personal touch, and a warm smile to greet you. I love going places with great ambiance. This place is no exception. Small cozy dining room perched overlooking the river. Most days the windows are open with a nice breeze blowing through. You won't be disappointed! Pro Tip: Don't forget to also swing through for lunch on Fri/Sat. The bento box is hard to beat!

Friendly helpful service and very tasty food. We were happy for healthy dining options locally since we are on Weight Watchers.

Five star recommendation. South Bay adventure. San Jose to Santa Cruz. Take Hwy 9. Beautiful drive through the redwoods. And you must stop at Tae's Edo Sushi Bar & Grill in Boulder Creek. Dine at the bar or dinning room right next to Boulder Creek. Best sushi and staff...Period!

Chicken quality is high in the kung pao chicken, tender and just the right amount of flour in the coating. Vegetables are also high quality (green beans with eggplant is my favorite). The pork dumplings were disappointing: the meat filling was noticeably chewy, more like overworked filler than a well-rested pork mix. The beef wrap leaned too salty, overshadowing whatever char and tenderness the beef itself had going for it. Service is where the visit really lost points. When we mentioned the dumpling texture to a staff member, the response was a flat "I'll let the chef know" -- no offer to remake it, comp it, or even a real apology. Later, when we asked for scissors to cut noodles for our kids, the same staff member turned notably curt, claiming they didn't have any -- a strange gap for a noodle restaurant, and a sharp contrast to how warmly he'd just been chatting with the table next to us. Good food doesn't fully make up for feeling like an afterthought. I'd go back for the noodle soup, but I'd keep expectations modest on the rest -- both kitchen and front-of-house.

They rebranded to…read moreWest End Izakaya and now serve Asian-inspired dishes, rather than their previous American farm-to-table menu. Honestly, I can't say this change is an improvement. My grandma and I visited around dinner on a Saturday and were seated on the (dog-friendly) patio. They did have propane heaters, but not enough of them, so it was quite chilly. For drinks, we both got hot Green Tea to warm up, which was very standard - served in pre-packed tea bags. For food, we ordered the Okonomiyaki Fries and Maitake Mushroom Flatbread to share. The Okonomiyaki Fries were pretty good and I enjoyed all the toppings, especially the spicy pink mayo. I usually prefer thinner fries, but I liked the crispy texture. However, the Maitake Mushroom Flatbread was a bit disappointing. There just wasn't enough bechamel and mozzarella on top and the flavor somewhat bland. Service was friendly, but I miss their old menu offerings, like the Heirloom Tomato Flatbread. Not a huge fan of the rebrand!
