Visited this place for an evening out and while looking for some sushi to eat and so glad we did. Let me start with the customer service was awesome by Debbie. This seems to be a mom and pop place and they treated us like family even though it was only our first time. Other patrons in the area seem to be regulars and they were having great interactions with the staff. As for the food it had great flavor. The crystal shrimp roll was good and my guest had this roll and really enjoyed it. I had the light the beam roll and this had a great flavor profile and went really well together with all ingredients. The tempura Udon was delish and would definitely order this again. Good sized rolls and good sized portion of udon was definitely a hit! As far as the ambiance this is a locals place where the staff treats you like family and you feel welcomed and will have a great dinner. Not many places I give 5 stars but this deserves based on the good food and over the top customer service provided by Debbie and the staff. Thank you for making our dinner date amazing! read more

TAIKO SUSHI IS TOP NOTCH Our family gathered together in the afternoon on Christmas Eve. As dinnertime approached, we thought it would be great to have a sushi dinner and started searching for a Japanese restaurant that was open and able to accommodate our party of seven adults on such short notice. Finally found space available at Taiko Sushi and made our way there. After we arrived, we felt the service was slow; our server let us know one of their chefs had a baby earlier in the day so they were understandably short-staffed. Our orders were going to take at least half an hour longer than usual as a result. Despite this delay, we still felt lucky to find a place to accommodate all of us during a major holiday and thanked our server for being so transparent with us. The staff went completely out of their way while we waited. We were offered miso soup, blue fin tuna sashimi along with other wonderful dishes along with beer and sake, all on the house. Chef Bell, one of the owners, introduced himself and was especially gracious and generous with our party. The time flew by and when our food arrived it was absolutely delicious. The Holidays are a time when everyone yearns to be with family and friends. We arrived at Taiko Sushi as strangers, but because of the incredible hospitality from Chef Bell and his staff we left as family! read more

Long story longer Wanted sushi and went down to Mikuni. Of course there was about 75 people waiting so we went to google and boom. Found Taiko right down the street. Never been here before but pulled up and it was already passing the vibe test. Halfway through the meal the owner stops by our table and asks if we want some Sake with him. Well of course, we do. He came back and we shared sake with him. Ten minutes later he comes back to check on us and brings back a bottle of sake and says enjoy. As we finish the bottle of sake a couple of beers arrive at the table and he asks to sit with us (as he did with all other patrons there) and we chatted. Then comes some blue fin tuna. Honestly, amazing customer service. Amazing hospitality. The food was top notch. This was our first time there and it will not be our last. Other sushi spots beware of this hidden gem. Fraction of the wait time for top notch sushi and a vibe that makes you feel like family. In fact he did say we're family now so this is the only spot I'll be going to in Folsom. read more

"Making Sushi is an art, and experience is everything." ~Nobu Matsuhisa Today I stopped in for a met up with a couple friends and we had a great experience, the staff and owner Wayne were attentive with checking up on us and really went above and beyond to meet our expectations! To drink I ordered a hot Green Tea which I could definitely tell was fresh and I enjoyed my bowl of hot Miso Soup with flavorful tofu! We decided to order one of their sushi boats to share, which was displayed beautifully with chef's choice sashimi! The Cherry Blossom from the Chef's Special Rolls was definitely my favorite, if you haven't ordered one before, it's shaped like it's name which is my favorite flower! It's also very flavorful and the fish is very fresh, I especially enjoyed it dipped into some spicy mayo on the side, yum! My second favorite was the Samurai from the Specialty Rolls, from the flavorful kick of the sriracha to the variety of flavorful fish! The King's from the Chef's Special Rolls was decent, I thought the fish was fresh. We also ordered the Dinner for 2 Option 1 with the Samurai from the Specialty Rolls, since it was so good we ordered another roll! The Apple Blossom from the Chef's Special Rolls was delicious and shaped like the beautiful flower! I especially loved the seaweed that was placed in the middle, it was sweet and flavorful! The Lion King from the Cooked Rolls was dressed in creamy sauces and baked with a layer of cheese on top, it was decent, tho I'll admit I prefer raw to cooked fish. The Edamame was of course delicious, as well as the delicate chef's choices sashimi! Lastly I quite enjoyed the flavorful thin sliced Chicken Teriyaki! We are eaters tho so probably could have asked for seconds ha ha! After we finished our meal we were craving something sweet, so we ordered a variety of different Mochi ice cream to try, Mango, Green Tea, Chocolate, Strawberry and Vanilla. I thought they were all pretty tasty, but my favorite was hands down the Mango, oh my goodness was it FLAVORFUL, just amazing, I'm already imagining my next time in for another one! I would definitely recommend paying a visit to this locally owned and operated business located on East Bidwell, they have been in business for nearly 16 years and know their stuff! Come check them out for yourself, I spoke to the owner and he said their most popular roll is the Rocky and their newest location in Carmichael has a Poke Bar which serves Poke Burritos. Food is good, don't get me wrong. Service is...okay... ish?!! Here's my concern, we got there and seated before 6:30 pm. There's a lot of customers today , waiting to get seated and have been waiting for their food to come out. There was a lot of Uber eats and door dash orders. Majority of the food that was prepared first are DoorDash or Uber eats, while the diners that are dining in are left waiting. They gave us free gyoza for the inconvenience on why the food is taking so long, then gave us free miso soup for the 2nd round. We didn't get all our food till almost 8 PM. I understand that there will be instances where staff are slam, but the wait time for the food to come out is way exaggerated. It's noticeable that they prioritize DoorDash or Uber eats than dine in. By the time we got the food, we just lost our appetite and just took it home. There was a few customer who did the same thing, due to the long wait. My husband and I went in right at opening 1130am, was greeted by staff and chef. Was seated and brought water with our menus. We got the fishing boat and miso soup. 10min wait for food which was great! Tasted fresh and delicious, drove out 40mins to try, we were pleased. The decor was very nice as well, seating arrangements weren't super close to make you feel claustrophobic (we got a booth so it didn't matter anywyas Music inside was not loud just right. My friend and I did a 5k for sushi and celebrated with none other than sushi. we elected to try a new place that we had not been to before and since the walking trail that we chose was in Folsom Taiko was the perfect place to go to celebrate our completion. The fish is fresh and every roll that we had ordered was so tasty. They are taking precautions including: Masks, limited seating indoors- outdoor is also an option, frequent cleaning on the tables between conusmers. Service was above par. Came here for lunch with my daughter on a Sunday and this place wasn't busy at all. Hostess greeted us right away and showed us to our table. Our waitress came within minutes and took our order. On a quest to try all the places in the Marketplace when I don't feel like cooking and the other reviews made this place later on the list if I ever wanted a Bento Box in this spot of the plaza. I see it's a reasonable price but you get what you pay for. All of the food checks out for taste and are not bad for a meal but not distinctive. Good for food but not memorable. Very skimpy portions with to-go and was still hungry afterwards. Okay customer service when entering and having to wait a while just for a person to come out and take order (they expect people call and/or online I think but that has convenience fee and auto tips). I would aim for 3 stars but it'll get 4 for filling my fix for Japanese food for the night. read more
