Ordered via a delivery app. Got a salad, garlic rolls, and a large pizza 1/2 sausage 1/2 cheese. The salad was unremarkable but fine. The garlic rolls were large and garlicky but a little soggy. There is cheese in the middle but you didn't taste is a tone. The pizza crust I liked. It had herbs on it and a nice crunch. That was all I liked of the pizza. The sauce was way too sweet for me. And my 2 friends I shared the pizza with. The cheese was meh. It wasn't as melty stringy goodness as I would of liked. Over all I wouldn't order from here again. read more

Went here for the first time on Sunday. Disappointed in the service. The process to wait in line to order a beverage is fine.. but then having to wait in the line again just to cash out seems poor. Since this was our first time, my husband went up to the bar and asked to cash out and the pourer/tender rudely said " can't you see I have to get all of these people in line"... he was only inquiring and her response was unacceptable. she wouldn't provide her name to us when we asked and was VERY rude, said she was not comfortable giving her name. I was in the service industry for years wearing a name tag... ridiculous response in my opinion! They had me at great craft brews chocked full of porters and stouts, then kept me with the stellar food. This isn't a 5-star restaurant for food, but it is most definitely not your standard pub fare. This food is what you want sitting beside some great craft beers to titillate the taste buds and soak up all the EtOH. We had a sampling of garlic knockers, fancy wings, and hot honey wings to pair with our PB stout, Russian Imperial stout, and red ale. Frankly, the garlic knockers are musts, and if you're a fan of spicy-ish wings the fancy wings offer good heat and flavor; however, to our palates, the hot honey tasted too much like candy and weren't as enjoyable. Lastly, the staff are friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable about what they have to offer, so don't be afraid to ask for recommendations and/or samples of beverages. As a resident of West Nashville, the Charlotte Pike location of TailGate has been on my list for a while so I am certainly glad I finally came here. TailGate has a constantly rotating tap of 30 different craft beers. They have only been around since 2014, yet they have the feel of a brewery that is well-established. When you arrive at the brewery, there is a huge parking lot and inside there is a lobby-type area before you open the doors to the actual taproom. The taproom is a casual and fun environment with consists of the main area with the bar then they also have a back room with more tables. They have TVs playing different sports games, they have large tables which are good for groups and they have arcade games and other games to play. The brewery is visible from the taproom and they do tours on Saturdays and Sundays. Bartenders were friendly and attentive. They got me samples of a few beers and gave me descriptions when I asked about certain beers. Their beers are fun and inventive. I started off with a coconut blonde (I know, crazy right?) which had just a slight hint of coconut but it was a light and refreshing beer. I tried a high gravity amber beer but then settled on a pint of something that had the words Red Barn in it, but I don't remember the whole name. My friend got a flight of different stout beers. I tried one he got which was a chocolate-covered strawberry flavored beer and I actually did like it even though I don't like stouts as much. The food menu consists of mostly pizza, so obviously this is the right choice to get! Other options include appetizers like garlic knots and wings, salads and sandwiches. I must say though--their pizza is very good. It is deep dish style and have three different sizes to choose from. My friend and I both got the personal size and then swapped a slice of pizza. I got the Hawaiian and my friend got the Lasagna. I thought both were super tasty. Overall this is a fun place. Many breweries in Nashville don't have good food AND good beer but this one has both. TailGate is ENORMOUS. They have food. They have TONS of beers. They have lots of seating inside and outside. It is the largest Nashville brewery that I've been to personally. So they have a huge beer list, which is great. It's always great to have more choices, right? I have a theory about places with too many choices. Think about the menu at The Cheesecake Factory, for example. A ton of choices, but none of them much good. When you fail to choose a cuisine or a style or specialize in anything at all, the food suffers generally. That's a dramatic example, but TailGate reminded me a bit of that. They have so many beers, but maybe too many? They make so many beers that none are exceptional and several are so similar as to not be necessary. I've tried five or six of their beers and none were memorable or stood out. Same with their food. They make pizza, which is great, because it's so important for a brewery to have food options (you can stay at a brewery so much longer if they feed you and well as pour you beers)! However, the pizza isn't great. It's fine, but certainly not anything I'd go out of my way to eat. (Full disclosure, I'm a bit picky about my pizza after having been spoiled by living in NYC for many years.) The property is the best part of TailGate. They have an indoor area, outdoor seating, and an additional covered area outside. They also have great events; movie screenings on the lawn are one example. TailGate is certainly a fun experience! But it stands out more as a property than it does for its beers or food! But, still, I'm sure I'll be back - it's a fun experience! read more

The Hot Honey Pizza was delicious and highly recommend. Pizza was cooked perfectly, crispy but not too thin. Pepperoni and sausage on the pizza were great. The sausage were not little chunks like usual pizza they were sliced and delicious. Large House salad was great size, Italian dressing was average. 25 in house beers on tap - 7 of those are sours. First the beers- their simco IPA is good - I am a hop head from so ca so bring on the IBU's. Nice hop smell and bitterness coming through from the hops. Sours - I am new to them but try their sampler 9$ for any 4 - good pours allow you to taste multiple. I loved the sour orange peel - definite pucker and great orange tangy taste. Milk stout. - Mmm their peanut butter ms was great - awesome taste, also enjoyed the coffee stout which had balanced coffee nose and taste. Atmosphere is great - big fans keep it feeling cool, lots of games, a few TVs, good music in background. They have a lounge attached to main bar with tables and a few couches. Believe it or not wifey and I come here to study and the background noise (and beers) help us focus :) The staff is very good - friendly, lots of beer knowledge and always a smile. They have an outside area out back you can bring dogs to and do have movies playing out back on a big screen on certain nights. Pizza, wings served inside but we have not tried those yet. Our trip to tailgate was the very first time my family (7 people) had been together since the shutdown due to several people being incredibly high risk. We chose tailgate so everyone could be outside but they came out and told us we couldn't serve the cake as soon as I took it out of the box. That was pretty disappointing being it was the first celebrated birthday in over a year, but we just did cake in the parking lot.
