So I had lunch today at work and chose Tainos Bakery & Deli in Orlando. I ordered Carne Frita, Mofongo and Salad. Now that I'm done, I'm ready to review. Let's do this: Let's start with the Mofongo. I loved how the bottom of it was crunchy and full of flavor like a pegao. It was awesome. It was flavorful and a generous size for the price. It was fun to eat. And then it was the carne frita. I cannot express enough how much of a fan I am of carne frita. Their carne frita did not disappoint at all. It was great. Nice portion, very seasoned, and it was nice and fried. The service was great. The place was great. I'm giving my lunch 5 stars. It was really good and I would eat here again. If you're in Orlando towards the Lake Underhill area ... I arrived at 11am on a Saturday and the parking was already a hot mess. Circled twice before someone was finally leaving. Got inside and placed my order via the kiosk for one beefsteak and one medianoche for $20+ total but I had a $2.5 reward and the food came out to just over $18. The beefsteak sandwich was tasty with a good amount of meat, lettuce and sauce to fill me up. I shared half of the sandwich with my father and Mami had half of her medianoche. I just recently discovered Taino's bakery and I am in love! Delicious Puerto Rican sandwiches with toasty bread and double crispy French fries! So far, I have only tried the special steak sandwich but it was so good that I have ordered it twice. This location in particular is very easy to access as it is located right off of the 408 behind the Popeye's on the corner. I am also very impressed with their mobile ordering as what happens is your food gets placed into a locker and you just open it by entering the last 4 digits of your phone number for confirmation. This location is super close to my house so on occasion I stop by for some treats! Their hot coffee with steamed milk is strong but so enjoyable! Today I got an iced coffee with cinnamon sprinkle on top, a "quesito" pastry (my favorite), and ham & cheese on toasted Cuban bread. It can sometimes take an extended amount of time to receive your order but today it wasn't too long of a wait. The staff are all very friendly and speak English and Spanish mostly. They have kiosks so you can order your food but you can also order with a staff member if you would rather that. There are two single stall restrooms that are kept clean and stocked. They weren't very polite about giving me something else & then they even charged my friend extra. I didn't even receive the cup of ice I got with the first one. Multiple locations: the one location I went to had really friendly staff and they were patient with me ordering as I don't speak Spanish so that was super helpful and kind. I visited about a week ago at 3pm and the cases were empty for the most part. Mind you, they close at 6pm so it was disappointing. When will these owners learn that less is more. For breakfast we decided to stop by Taino's. Inside they have a nice case showing all their pastries and electronic menus on the walls. The electronic menus are nice but kind of a hassle because when you start to read them they rotate to another menu so that's a little frustrating. As far as the dining room they have plenty of seating which is nice. Also they have several cashiers and the way the line is set up is a little confusing, just make sure you're paying attention in line and making eye with the cashiers so you know where to go. We ordered the Bistro and Medianoche sandwiches for breakfast along with a cafe con leche and a Malta. Both sandwiches were fully loaded with meat and toppings. They tasted pretty great and we didn't have to wait too long for them to prepare it. We also ordered a quesito and I was pleasantly surprised on its size and how much cheese was inside. It wasn't overly sweet and a perfect size to share with my husband. Overall if you know what you want you can order it pretty fast but if you like to look at options or read menus I would suggest reading their menu online first before arriving. read more

Great spot for PR pastries, empanadas, sandwiches, and more! Lots of seating and friendly staff which made for a great experience. I stopped by to get some pastries for a family event and wound up getting a variety of different things I remembered from when I lived in PR as a kid. My experience was terrible. I ordered from the Lake Underhill store, through uber eats. Item said by one get one free. I was charged for both. I called the store and tried to explain myself, but because of a language barrier no one could of help me. One of the employee told me get in contact with uber. This is not Uber fault, this is the restaurant fault, for advertising what they can't produce. Someone else came to speak to me, but it was of no use. I just give up. They can keep the $16.99. The Rundown: A casual Puerto Rican bakery that offers a large menu variety at reasonable prices. Note, you will not be able to use the check-in coupon. The Review: I was surprised by the menu variety, ranging from breakfast items to sweets and dinner to even ICEE. They have ordering stations, but depending on the time of day they will also have someone to take your orders. The staff is efficient and friendly, offering options and abilities to customize. Unfortunately, they are unfamiliar with how to apply coupons - like the Yelp check-in. I have tried on different occasions and no luck as they insist it is for online ordering only? Back to the Cafe - they offer plenty of seating. It is very common for tables to be messy and sticky though. The food overall is pretty good. Personally, I am a big fan of their frappé - I am a sweets fan and these are definitely some of the heaviest frappe I have had! The sandwiches overall have been quite good. Compared with other Puerto Rican cafés in the area, this location will likely meet your expectations but overall the flavors are pretty standard as is the overall experience. The food wasn't what I expected. Steak was extremely tough. Rice was Undercooked. I understand that the steak isn't considered high quality beef however I don't expect tough meat. The rice was literally cooked for less than 10 minutes. Hard and undercooked. The beans were the only thing good. Plaintains weren't that sweet. Ambiance was great customer service was awesome. I can't believe I waited so long to try Taino's! We went on a weekend afternoon for a late lunch. It wasn't a peak time, but the restaurant was still pretty busy, but service moved quickly. The inside is a pretty large space and very bright and clean. On one side there are cases showing off their bakery offerings with lots of yummy looking pastries and goodies. Next to that, you can view the menus for their regular items and order from the counter. There's a good amount of seating in the middle and on the other side of the restaurant, there is a counter that has cafeteria style offerings which looked yummy when I walked by to scope it out. All of the people working were very friendly. We chose to order a tripleta sandwich, bistec (sides of rice and beans and tostones), an additional side of rice and beans, and a beef empanada. The food was ready after a short wait and came out hot and fresh. The portions are huge! We shared the beef empanada which was very tasty. The rice and beans are some of the best I've had; the beans were just a perfect texture and the flavor was awesome. I also enjoyed my tripleta sandwich. It was packed with meat and the bread was soft and yummy while still strong enough to hold the ample fillings. My boyfriend enjoyed his bistec. We ended up with lots of leftovers which were very much enjoyed. Overall, Taino's is an awesome spot for great Puerto Rican food. Stopped here in the recommendation of a local fir good Puerto Rican food when I was in the Orlando area. It's pretty large and you can eat in. They have a hit food section and so we had the chicken wings and the yellow rice . I ordered some of the pastries and a loaf of pan de agua. The chicken was very good and the rice as well. Not the best experience I've had here. Food quality has been decreasing for a while now. Empanadas are as greasy as they can get, as if they're been fried in cold oil. Wait time is very long, even on times when it's not too busy. After waiting 30 minutes for my 2 sandwiches, I get home and I'm about to put my food on a plate and found a hair. Best location I've visited so far. I decided to come to this location for the first time on Father's Day to grab some lunch. I have visited a different location a few months back and the experience wasn't great so I was hoping so something better. This location is very big with plenty of tables to choose from. You can order by phone or at the register. For being Father's Day it wasn't busy as of 12pm. I ordered several items. For starters/ picadera I ordered a yucca alcapurria and a masa alcapurria, a cheese dog, Sorullitos de maiz. Everything was good and made to order. We also ordered a mofongo with fried pork . The mofongo was good not dry but it needed a little broth on the side. The pork was very well seasoned and had a good balance of fat on them definitely not dry.
