My go-to Chinese takeout. I order the crispy scallion chicken, ginger chicken and crab Rangoon- all EXTRA spicy. This is the first Chinese place I've been to that actually makes the food extra spicy when you request it. I almost don't want to write a review, because I want this place to stay a hidden gem. I have been coming here for the last 10 years and I have never been disappointed. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and plentiful. There are tables to stay and eat, but 9.9 times out of 10, I take it to go. It's the perfect food to cozy up on the couch and enjoy with the TV. Taipei Express is a wonderful takeout establishment. The staff are hardworking and take pride in the speed and quality with which they make and present their food to eager customers. (It's literally ready within 10 minutes of ordering, and is consistently excellent!) We've been going to Taipei two to three times a month for the past three years, and have never had a bad dish... A few favorites are the garlic chicken and eggplant, The ginger chicken and green beans, the steamed vegetable dumplings and the sesame chicken. The chicken wings are pretty great too, crispy but not greasy... Ingredients are always fresh, and the portions are very generous. Although they don't deliver, it is fun to leave a quarter on the fat Buddha statue at the entrance way when we pick up our takeout. I thought the food was great. We ordered the recommended scallion chicken, which did not let me down. It was the perfect level of spicy. We also ordered general tso and the pepper steak w/ onions. The general tso had a great balance of sweet and spicy. The pepper steak wasn't really my thing, but my bf liked it. I thought the egg rolls and fried rice were great too. I have to re-do my review after today's lunch visit. The staff, well particularly one person at the front was very rude. Not friendly or welcoming AT ALL. They have "vegetable egg roll" on the menu, which I ordered, hoping for a........vegetable egg roll. Well instead, got a spring roll...not the same thing..please change the menu. I hate spring rolls and the flaky thin outer shell. Boo. The lo mein, although a large portion, was somewhat tasteless. They have chili oil that is bland, so it didn't help. That being said: $10.75...for poor tasting noodles and a spring roll that I didn't even want. Yuck. Now I'm hungry still. read more

This is more than likely going to become my new go-to Chinese restaurant. It's fast, it's good and it's affordable. I lived in Brooklyn and well, what they say about NYC Chinese food is very true: there's nothing like it. A majority of the places I've been to here have been overrated and bland, as well as expensive. I ordered the Sesame chicken, dinner combo and it was enough for lunch the next day. I like my sesame chicken with a bit of a crunch and it was spot on! The sauce was tangy and it wasn't drowning in sesame seeds which is always a plus. The fried rice was just that fried rice. No veggies really and I have to say as it may be authentic to make it that way, it still lacked flavor. I had to add soy sauce and duck sauce to the rice, hence the missing one star. Will that stop me from visiting? Of course not, I'll just order a protein based fried rice next time. All in all, two thumbs up over here! read more

Taipei express slam dunks it every time. My favorites are the crispy scallion chicken with fried rice. So flavorful and bold you can get it spicy or you can get it where it's mild. Another favorite is Mongolian beef and broccoli the beef is cooked well the broccoli steam to perfection in the sauce taste great pair it with fried rice oh man you don't know what you're missing!! I have tried the vegetable dumplings and the dumpling sauce is amazing and I'm definitely going to try that again. Quick recap: bad customer service. Do not order any dish with breaded chicken. Ginger chicken is the dish to get if you find yourself here. Would not recommend this place to friends and family. There was very little amounts of chicken in the orange chicken. Mostly breading and very chewy. Rice was good, dumplings were nothing special. Sweet tea was pure sugar. When I tried to exchange my orange chicken for something else due to poor quality, they told me that was not possible. This is a first for me. Pretty good and pretty fast! They give good portions and enough for left-overs. The space is pretty small, but you can dine-in. When I was there they stayed very busy and it seemed like a lot of people order-to-go. If you want the chili in oil, you will have to ask. I enjoyed the veggie lo mein and would be happy to go try more. The parking directly in front of the building is limited. I think there is more parking next door (another shopping area). The woman who took my order seemed friendly and the staff was concentrating on making order after order. They seem to have a good groove going! read more
