I believe Taisho and Mako bowl share the same owners because the food is identical. I can't completely it took me this long to figure that out, because Taisho is closer to home. Mako bowl has more of an extensive menu, but Taisho does the trick. Food: I ordered the BBQ beef, which is the BBQ kalbi over rice, served with a few pieces of broccoli and a carrot and zucchini mixture. The beef is tender and the teriyaki sauce is on the sweeter side. The food is consistent here, which is what I appreciate the most. I love their California rolls as well. I found this hidden gem under some sad circumstances, my wife was in the hospital battling cancer. Working in Arcadia for over 10 years, Taisho has become a staple lunch spot and a great option for a quick, cheap, delicious lunch. It shares a huge parking lot with lots of other businesses, so you won't have trouble finding parking. The wait time is never long, however it always helps to call your order in ahead of time. Phone orders on a weekday during lunch time take about 10-15 minutes, which is pretty speedy to me. I usually get the chicken teriyaki small or large plate. The main difference is the amount of rice and chicken, the sides (broccoli, zucchini and carrots) appear to be the same size. The amount of chicken from small to large seems to be doubled, and you get a larger portion of rice with the large. The best thing about Taisho are the prices. For under $6 you can get small teriyaki chicken plate, which is filling enough for myself. If I'm really hungry I'll opt for the large and pay just a little more. If you like teriyaki, then this is the spot to add to your lunch/dinner rotation! read more

Big fan of the Salman Kama Bento. The kama is more tender and moist than the regular salmon filet and the bento comes with nice sides including a salad, vegetables, and potstickers. I've been here a handful of times for lunch since I work close by. They are located on the north side of Huntington Drive just east of Fifth Avenue. There's a Baja Fresh, Robek's, Zen Buffet in this plaza. It's never been one of my "go to" places, but every once in a while I'll feel like a teriyaki bowl or maybe some udon on a cold day. I think the tough part is that there are so many other choices in the area. Based on my "Check Ins", I've only been here 4 times in 4 years. LOL so it's about a one time a year thing for me. Their food is nothing fancy or impressive for that matter, but it's decent. Their prices are just okay, but you still end up paying around $10+ for the value meals or sushi bowls. Their udon is okay. They tend to overcook the salmon and put sauce on everything (the meat, rice, and veggies) if you order teriyaki (beef, chicken, salmon). The indoor seating is kind of cramped so I usually like to dine outside. If we end up at this plaza for lunch, I would always head towards Daphne's (but now a Pieology). If you eat at the restaurant, it is now a sit down meal (so tip is now necessary) rather than before where you ordered at the counter and ate fast food style. I really like the chicken curry. Just don't go during rush hour (which is like 7pm~8pmish). A bunch of people came when I got there. That makes the wait for your food take longer than usual. Super tasty... but that didn't fill me up :/ If I was by myself and had more money I'd order maybe two or three orders of that! Beware that a lot of the items on the menu have spice! This review is not for the food, rather it's for the fact that they constantly give you the orders wrong. It's basically a crap shoot when you order food to go. We always order the same thing, always with the teriyaki sauce on the side. Upon picking up the orders, we ask to make sure the teriyaki is not on the food, but on the side. They confirm it's on the side. When we get home, we find the teriyaki is on the food. I don't know how else to get this across to the cashiers there. If the owner is reading this, you really need to fix this. It's at the point where we're going to go elsewhere since it's nearly impossible to get the food as ordered. They had the restaurant doors open wide, which I appreciated as it kept the airflow constantly moving, which seems like a good measure for reduced risk of infection. I ordered the mixed sushi bowl (salmon + spicy tuna) for $11.95, one of the more expensive menu items which is wild - the prices are fantastic. It was worth every penny and more. Salmon was very fresh, and the bowl came with 6 large slices. The spicy tuna was great and flavorful, but I definitely preferred the salmon. The fish was atop a bed of fluffy vinegar sushi rice, exactly the way I like it. Definitely planning to come back here for a quick, delicious meal. read more
