This has been my go-to eating spot ever since I was younger, and I have always deeply enjoyed the food and customer service. The workers are always so nice and have been friendly faces. My personal favorite is the chicken and beef plate, since it comes with a good amount of food for the price, and the gyoza. There are seats to sit down and eat, but sometimes due to the busy times, there is not a lot of space. But there are also seats outside that allow more space. It was a little on the salty side and there weren't enough chicken Katsu pieces but the curry had a number of pieces of chicken that made it better. I was pretty filled up as I finished the greens. I LOVE TAISHO!!! It is so hard to get decent food for decent prices nowadays. Two entrees costs about mid 20s and it fills you up!! I always get their curry chicken rice set and my partner always gets the teriyaki chicken and beef rice set. I feel like you can't go wrong with Taisho with the prices they have these days. I am not sure why some other reviews have complaints about food quality but I am pleased every visit. It is better to call and order as they do get quite busy sometimes. And it costs a little extra if you want extra things like red radish. There is indoor and outdoor casual seating and parking is abundant with other businesses. read more

For COVID safety the have markers on the floor. People in line are pretty good about social distancing. I called my order and went to pickup in 15-20min like they said. The order was ready but due to the lunch rush hour still had to wait since they don't have a separate line for pickup. Ordered teriyaki bowls- salmon and chicken/bbq beef along with CA rolls. I feel like I first came to this restaurant 15 years ago; it has definitely been here for a long time, and despite coming here with some regularity, it's not on the frequent rotation for whatever reason. quite honestly, there's no good reason for that - - they have good quality food, and pretty reasonable prices, even with recent mark ups and inflation across-the-board. Arcadia rents ain't cheap I'm sure. I happened back into the place today, remembering that alongside their teriyaki chicken dishes, They make a pretty decent California roll at a more than reasonable price. The good news is that they still make those roles, and have, in fact, added a couple of different ones - - an avocado salmon roll, and a spicy tuna roll. They also have some sushi bowl creations. and yes, prices have gone up, but honestly, eight pieces of sushi here has the same price as buying it at Ralphs or Albertsons. So there's that. Definitely a nice little spot to stop in and get a quick lunch. The anchor tenant that was there previously, some sort of buffet, did not survive Covid, and the building was torn to the ground. Signs suggest that a raising canes is being built in that location, and I suppose that can only strain the small parking lot a little more, even if it is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. more on that in another review at a different time. read more

Decided to give Taisho another shot today man... do I regret it. Called in my order simple large chicken well done. They said 10min ok arrived 11min after lined up to pay they lost my receipt wow had to wait for them to make my order in the order I arrive which was lunch. My fault for giving this place another go. I've been frequenting Taisho for almost 20 years now. I remember the good ol' days of coming here for lunch during high school. Fast forward, I am still finding myself at Taisho whenever I'm craving some sashimi during the weekday but don't have time to order or sit down at a sushi restaurant. It's a great "fast food" spot. I call in the order and it usually takes 15 minutes. Parking is easy to find so I'm able to pick it up easily in time to race home to eat and be ready for my next meeting. I always get their salmon avocado roll, mac salad and salmon sashimi bowl. My dad who comes here even more often (at least once a week) likes getting their salmon and mackerel bentos. This place is just all around a solid place if you're looking for a quick and easy lunch at a good value. They also sell sushi platters so that's a great option if you're headed to a potluck and don't know what to bring. read more

WOOOW!! I was so pleasantly surprised by this little mom and pop shop. I've seen it on yelp and had it bookmarked for a while, but never came around to trying until now. My bf and I ordered the salmon sushi bowl, chicken teriyaki + bbq beef ribs plate, and a salmon + avocado roll and they were all soo good!! The salmon bowl was super fresh and it was only $12 ?!?!!! *__* The chicken and beef were tender, juicy, and flavorful. The salmon roll was a nice complement to our meal, but the fish was not as fresh as the bowl. Still good though. Total was about $30 for the two of us, but we still had some leftovers from the plate! This restaurant is a little far from me, but I'll definitely be back if I'm in the area! I hear my friends always mention this place as an awesome lunch spot so I decided to try it when I visited the FedEx in the same plaza. I called ahead, ordered what I wanted, and it was ready for me when I arrived 15 minutes later. You can really taste the effort put in to grill the chicken and the teriyaki sauce is just perfect (not too runny and not too thick). The veggies on the side are a great compliment to it. The salmon bowl was great as well! I'm a simple sushi gal and I need a sushi fix every once in a while so I'm glad they provide salmon/avocado rolls for people like me. Good local Japanese restaurant. I got the combo sushi bowl, which has salmon and spicy tuna sashimi with sushi rice. For the price, I don't know of any other place that can offer similar quality fish. There's always poke bowls, but sometimes I just want plain sashimi at a reasonable price. The chicken Katsu curry was very flavorful and mixes well with the texture of the meat. Teriyaki bowls are standard but nothing beats the price. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. All of these glowing reviews have me wondering if I came on an off day but my family ordered 3 different dishes and only one was worth ordering again... The chicken katsu curry was the best dish of the three. The only issue was that the curry super salty. The chicken teriyaki was a crazy huge portion but the problem was it was doused in teriyaki sauce--unless you also like teriyaki sauce rice, I would recommend getting the sauce on the side. Unfortunately because the sauce was so overpowering, my kids didn't eat the teriyaki chicken at all when they normally love it. I sadly ordered the salmon teriyaki. I say sadly because it was a huge portion of salmon chunks but the fish was undercooked. It wasn't raw but it just didn't have any hint of grill or broil on it. Tasted like steamed salmon but I don't think it's supposed to be a steamed dish. It was also sad because it was such a huge portion of fish but I just couldn't eat more than one piece. I wish it was a smaller portion of salmon that was either broiled or grilled at the very least. I felt so guilty throwing it away. My ancestors are probably shaking their heads in disgust. The rice was also a huge fail. I can't believe I am saying this about white rice but it was extremely mushy. Delicious! Such fresh pieces of salmon and the tuna is chopped fresh. Not like some other places where it's pre-made and kinda mushy texture. It's some of the best quality and some big pieces of fish for the price it is well worth it. I will say the tuna is very spicy so be careful if you aren't good with spicy food! On the side in a bag it even came with nori if you wanted to wrap it! We came from out of town and order to go, but it's definitely worth the trip to eat here and we'll be back again! read more

Stumbled upon this place on my way to pick up a pizza for my son. Order chx udon, miso, chx teriyaki bowl with rice and veggies. No pics we were so hungry I forgot Udon noodles were delicious and absorbed the spicy broth (we added ari chia) nice n hearty broth. Miso was perfect Chicken bowl came with plenty of tender lightly seasoned teriyaki chicken and sticky rice (my favorite especially since it was fresh) and fresh steamed veggies. First time trying Taisho and was blown away by its quality and affordability. We ordered two sushi combo bowl which consist of half spicy tuna and salmon nigiri.
