First time coming to this place. We tried chicken, paneer, goat, rice and nan. The ambience of this place felt a little quiet inspite of the background music, paintings and the holiday lights, but definitely inviting. The restrooms were clean. The customer service was superb and nothing short of excellent even though it was a just 1 person when we went there. We asked for home made type on-diet style chicken curry, but we still got one doused in cream. The taste was great though. The goat curry was excellent. The curry portion sizes were small. The nan was crispy and warm when it got to the table - tasted like frozen reheated. The rice was extra price and doesnt come with the curries and the rice portion size is tiny. The quality of rice was poor - either it was not basmati or it was poorly cooked, not bad in any way but just not good restaurant quality. Overall, the food is great, but the portions are small. I came to this place for dinner with family half full after eating a snack and a desert, but left hungry because the portions were so small even though I ate all of my nan, rice and curry order. Considering none of the curries come with rice, from the price point of view, it is not cheap, but neither is it super expensive considering what we are paying at restaurants these days. Found this spot while searching for Indian sweets late night, and was pleasantly surprised of how professional and absolutely kind they were. I am a indian myself and trust me when I say some Indian spot you go to, you get the death stair I swear. Every eye is on you, what you are wearing, who you are with etc, but this place was a delight to go to and the sweets did not disappoint either. The service was excellent, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I had the buffet options and for my wife, the spicy tofu curry, and the chilli garlic naan, and everything was delicious and flavorful. The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. We especially loved the chilli garlic naan, which was soft, fresh, and had the perfect amount of spice. We will definitely come back to try more dishes from their extensive menu. But we chalked that up to the trials of opening a restaurant, and many months later we finally decided to come back tonight and we are SO glad we did!! Everything we tried was a masterful interpretation of the dish! He came across Taj Cafe and noticed it's a newer place so off we went to Taj Cafe for some lunch. The restaurant is bright and clean with a relaxed atmosphere. We decided on Palak Paneer, Butter Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo, Onion Kulcha and Garlic Chili Naan. I asked if rice came with the dishes and Kumar (the gentleman who took our order) said he would bring us some. When the food came out it was piping hot, looked and smelled amazing. My husband and I dug in immediately! Everything was sooo good!!! Both the lamb and chicken were so tender and the sauces for each were amazing; very creamy, well seasoned and plenty of it!! We like our food pretty spicy and considering it was our first time we asked for spicy and it had a little kick to it, but not as spicy as we would normally have. However, that did not deter us from devouring it all! The food was sooo good that we ordered a couple of dishes to bring home for dinner. I will review those later. All in all, we have found our new home for Indian food! Definitely stop in and give this place a try, you won't be disappointed!!! The first time we dined in, I ordered the shrimp curry and my boyfriend ordered the butter chicken and we both had it with rice and garlic naan. it was delicious, but I think I prefer the curry with chicken instead of shrimp. I took the leftover curry home and grilled my own chicken and used the leftover curry sauce and it was so delicious. The second time was today and we were craving Indian so I placed an order through Yelp which uses GrubHub and picked it up in store. This time we ordered the chicken curry and chicken tiki masala, garlic naan, and regular naan and the food tasted even better than the first time. It's so fresh and flavorful. we both agree that we prefer the garlic naan since the regular naan doesn't have much flavor. We ordered our entrées mild, but I think next time we might try medium because there's practically no spice in the mild. A small restaurant in the southridge area with huge flavor! My wife and I had noticed the Taj Cafe about a month ago and we were finally able to stop by and sample the menu. This place is incredible we had the butter chicken and the malai kofta. Both dishes were delicious. The chicken was tender and the sauces of both dishes were full of flavor. The naan was a different style than others I have had before. (It was the one with the paneer cheese), Less doughy than others but delicious. If you are in the area definitely try it out. Great food and attentive service, I'll definitely be back. But take pictures of the food before you eat, once you start eating you won't stop. read more

I came here for the first time to pick up dinner for us on Christmas Eve 2022. The restaurant was open and clean. Service was good. We got several things. Vegetable Pakoras which were cooked very dark and crispy, my husband thought this was the best. Punjab salad was tomato, cucumber, red onion and green chili. This was hard to eat as the onions were bitter, old, and in huge chunks. Next a chicken tandoori chicken, bright red and spicy, no white meat here. Chicken Tikka Masala very good. Tandoori shrimp bright red and fiery hot. Rice and bread. This was 63 dollars and some of it I wouldn't do again. No where on the menu does it say bread comes with a entree so I bought 2 that I didn't need and they push you buying the bread so beware. Second I asked for mild and it was all seriously hot and we like spicy but not so much, my husband just couldn't eat the shrimp. Rice was so bland, zero salt. All in all maybe not again. Finally this is in old South Ridge in a old neighborhood I'm thinking was build in 1980. This is in a strip mall. The area was clean, cared for and no graffiti, people were nice. Not sure I would go at night by myself. You have to go through a real industrial area, lots of big trucks. That's my take. read more

Absolutely delicious! I don't usually leave reviews, but I had to leave one today. Officially, my top Indian restaurant hands down. My family of 7 (all grown adults) tried it last night. My wife and I ordered a bunch of food: Samosas - crunchy outside and soft on the inside. Yumm Chicken Tikka Masala - the spices were delicious. Medium was the right spice. The curry was so good, I don't mind just taking the curry home without the chicken, just to eat it with rice. Naan - definitely the best naan I've had. I've had doughy naan which others might prefer, but I prefer the warm and crispy naan which this place does so well. Palak Paneer - Savory, the cheese was the right texture and the spinach was just right, not too bitter like other places. My wife always orders the Palak Paneer and she mentioned that this is her favorite. Overall, my family loved it!! We will definitely be coming back again.
