This has been the sushi place for my family for over 5 years. Consistent fresh sushi and other plates, friendly staff, and very nice owners. Beef Negamaki is an excellent and substantial plate for those who don't like fish. I visited Taka Sushi with friends for lunch. Sushi is very average and waiter service lacking. On my visit, I ordered a sushi roll appetizer and entree. I happened not to eat all of my appetizer, and our waitress asked me why I didn't eat all of it, and proceeded to bark at me, as if she was shocked someone would not eat all of it. I don't understand that attitude. While the ambiance is pleasant, quality of your sushi is average - they serve previously frozen tuna in their rolls - and prices are high in consideration of quality. I tried take out from here since it was located in downtown Summit. I've had better sushi. Picking up the sushi, the restaurant was small and typical of a "cheap sushi place." The prices didn't exactly match the appearance of the restaurant. The service was very polite when I was picking up my food. The rice on the rolls was watery and the sushi just didn't hit the spot. Parking in downtown Summit to pick up the sushi wasn't the easiest also. Wouldn't try this place again. read more

When there were no sushi places in Summit other than Monster Sushi, Taka ruled the world. For those that have eaten in good sushi restaurant such as Sushi Seki, Sushi Yusada, or Hatsuhana in NYC, you know what I am talking about. Taka makes a mockery of the people of summit because they are not even japanese. The people there are all chinese and its a fake. The slice of fish is so thin and tiny that I can see right through the pieces. This is a really horrible place and because of a lack of competition, they are able to get away with their substandard food. I really hope that the people of Summit will rise and demand more quality for their money. This place is a disgrace and should be shut down immediately. read more

LOVE the sushi here. Fresh, beautiful, and inventive. (They actually serve natto roll...fermented soybeans...stinky & delicious!) This sushi is the closest to the stuff I had in Japan--and the restaurant itself is lovely--quiet & relaxing. A little pricey, but well worth it. read more

Taka is my favorite place to go get sushi in Summit. Their fish is fresh and flavorful, and my kids love their teriyaki chicken bento box. It is always clean inside, is very family friendly, and is pretty well priced. The service is a bit impersonable, but the food makes up for it. read more

Hey this place is a surprise buried in the bowels of Summit. It is a non-descript place that you would walk right by a hundred times. The sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls are professionally prepared, fresh and could challenge the best of the best sushi places in NJ. I have also had their fried rice, chicken teriyaki, iceberg salad with ginger dressing that were all excellent. I wouldn't be surprised if even Summit residents didn't know this restaurant. Been here for Many times. I used to love it. Sushi was good, service was nice. Today was Different. Took us 1/2 hour to be seated when they told us 10-15 minute. Also service was BAD. They actually told us they ran out of glasses, took my husbands to the back to rinse out then filled it with water. Really? Crazy. read more

I have only been here for lunch and I really enjoy the chiraishi lunch special. They do fish substitutions for me because I don't like maguro. The rice tastes really delicious. They season it just right and it's cooked to perfection. Sometimes I go there because I crave the rice! read more

This is my go to Summit sushi spot. It's always fresh and delivery is fast.

Over the past several years we would go to this place when we wanted a higher level of Japanese including sushi and did not mind paying extra. We had started going when this place opened and stopped when they stopped their loyalty card program. We went back here twice in the past week and while the food and the service were both quite good, the portions seemed small. The bigger problem is that the place has become run-down and borderline filthy. Bits of paper everywhere, soiled carpets; nothing ship shape like it used to be. Bathrooms were disgusting. Lighting is dim so you may not notice, but there are much cleaner sushi places around if that's your style. read more

I am a regular at this restaurant and it is the best Japanese restaurant in the area. I've found that many of their dishes and rolls/sushi are unlike dishes from any other restaurant like Taka, making their menu unique. The atmosphere is cozy, comfortable, and modern and the staff is exceptional. I recommend the Rock Shrimp appetizer, Taka's classic Avocado Salad with the sweet peanut dressing, and their Udon Noodles (chicken, shrimp, vegetable, etc.), as well as many of their special rolls. read more

The service was awful. It took an hour to get our food. Once my food came it was cold and when they replaced it it still was not hot. I noticed when the food comes out they put it on a table in the middle of the restaurant rather than keeping it in the kitchen to stay warm. Every time we needed something we had to ask for it, such as water, our food, the check, even getting the check back once we had paid (this alone took 20 minutes before we finally had to ask to get our credit cards back). The servers were completely neglectful. What should have been a 1 hour long meal at most took 2 hours just because the service was so bad. I would not go back here again. read more

We love Taka! It is consistantly good, fresh sushi. And now they have really stepped it up with their new menu. It is the only sushi place in the area that we will eat at and a bonus is they deliver! The only downside is they are a little pricey. read more

This is our go to place in Summit but it's nothing special mind you, I just like the sushi better than Monster sushi (Monster's rolls are too "monster" and the rice isn't great and there's way too much of it. Good if you're a portion freak and want your money's worth, but not good sushi.) Anyway, back to Taka, it's usually fast when you eat in. Delivery TAKES FOREVER. I mean literally like hours because I think they have their waitstaff wait for a bunch of orders before they go out, I could be wrong, but I would go pick it up instead of wait and hour 1/2 for it! Went to dinner last night with a friend of mine. I have eaten there before and never had an issue. We both ordered Bento boxes, chicken teriyaki. The soup came out within a minute if ordering. Then what felt like 5 minutes, the bento boxes came out. I did notice my gfs plate looked like it was cooked better, for example her Chicken was more grilled than mine. We ate dinner and then left, by 2am I got severely sick and was throwing up all night until today. I believe I got food poisoning from either under cooked chicken or the shumai. the seaweed salad is excellent , sushi delicious, prices are reasonable and staff is friendly
