I was visiting my daughter in Austin last weekend and her car (2013 Mercedes Benz C250 Sport) was due for an oil change. I usually change the oil myself but didn't have the time or tools with me to do it this time. I did have the correct Mercedes cartridge oil filter and 6 quarts of Mobil1 0W-40 synthetic oil. I found this Take 5 Oil Change based on location and Yelp reviews. When I arrived on a Saturday morning around 8:45 AM there was another customer pulling in right in front of me. I initially thought I would have to wait but just then Connor (the store manager as I found out later) stepped out, greeted me, and offered me a bottled water. I asked Connor, if I have my own filter and oil would this store perform the oil change? He said yes and quoted a price I found reasonable. He directed me into the 1st garage bay (they have 2 bays) and performed the oil change even replacing the old oil pan plug (which had a torn rubber washer) with an identical oil pan plug. Connor was very nice, professional, and performed the oil change quickly but with care while I waited in the car (watching). When everything was complete, I asked if in the future my daughter could do the same thing and he said "sure, "have her ask for me" and gave me his business card (listing him as store manager). You simply pull up, they guide you into the garage bay, they give you an oil menu and answer any questions, then have you paying and out the door in minutes. I'll definitely be back. After a disastrous experience with JiffyLube, I spent a number of years looking for another oil change place. I think I've found it. I've been there twice; both times they were quick and they did the job right. Prices are competitve and clearly posted -- no surprises. The people who work there have all been friendly and helpful. They offer to answer questions, they let me know what else they're seeing that might need attention, and they're polite. They seem to enjoy their work. No hard sell, which I appreciate. If I need a new air filter tell me, but don't act like I'm insulting you if I don't choose to buy one right then. These guys strike the right balance. read more

Worlds slowest oil change. Waited a half hour in a hot car, only to get to the front to be yelled at and then later ignored. No update as to a time frame or even a look as if they are happy for our business. Still waiting 45 min later... They claim it took less than 10 minutes. 10 minutes after a 30 minute wait to get to the front and another 15 minutes waiting for someone to help us. The absolute rudest employees named Steven & Jo insulted us for no reason when he came to change the oil. We felt like we were a nuisance for using this business. Unwelcoming and dysfunctional place. 0/10 recommend. Also it was over $100 to get a simple oil change. Nothing like paying to be insulted. read more

This is a tightly-run shop. Always tidy and clean inside. The crew gets the job done quickly and safety and communication is job 1. Job 2 is getting customers out quickly and efficiently. Customer service is great especially when Krystal, the shop manager is there. Once you pull up, you're greeted with a smile and a cold bottle of water and even a juice pouch if you've brought your little one. Never again. I've used these guys a few times and after seeing a recent Yelp review I was a bit hesitant to come back. I still did though bc all of my experiences were great when getting an oil change. This though was such a bad experience I just drove down the street to Jiffy Lube and I had a complete opposite experience. I waited in line for an hour and a half and was never seen. I was offered water after about 30 mins of waiting and the young employee told me that their manager left to go to Auto Zone to buy an air filter(because I guess they ran out? Wtf kind of oil change business doesn't have air filters stocked?). The car behind me is pulled into the other bay, and I'm told twice how I will be serviced before the other car. Finally it's been another 45 minutes and I'm livid. Then I'm told by the same guy how he's really sorry but the car that was behind me and in the other bay they were going to service before me. I said I was leaving. He backs me out but forgets to remove the cone that was placed behind my car and the whole way out of this hell hole I'm dragging this cone under my car. I'm never coming back here. For real. This place is run by incompetent people and I can't believe I waited as long as I did. Everytime I come to this location it's something Janky going on !!! The last two experiences have been horrible , and a complete waste of time. Last time they had no oil so I had to buy my own and then have them change it . Second time, they pull you in , make you sit like everything is normal. Then when it's finally your turn, they hand you a sheet of paper to fill out, and let you know that you need to pay with credit card. Take 5? more like take an hour, AND I literally was worried they will mess up my car the entire time. It started with them asking me to turn off the car when the car was not running.....then the tech stripping the bolts off the cover. I could just hear and see her grinding them with the power tool. i had to step out of the car and ask wtf?then price went up to $120 because they told me they only have the most expensive oil WHEN everything was already opened up.... they were extremely slow i looked at my message i sent to my wife that i'm here getting like changed and when i left it was 1hr 19min there was only one car in front of me when i got here... Additionally I didn't leave the review last time but the last time i was here they forgot to put the oil plastic cover and the oil cap on...and close the hood... so I take off I see the cover is open, I pull up on the side of the road to pop it up to close it , and i see the above mentioned I mean...yeah I know it's hard to get the appointment right now as Austin is overpopulated but man I think this was my last time here. Everyone looked high as a kite too. Nope.. the only reason i left 1 star is because I THINK they have a actually changed the oil. My car needed a simple oil change, so I pull up to this Take 5 location and they were very nice and offered me a cold water. Then, while they were servicing my car, they also recommend I get a new engine filter as mine was old. I agreed and after everything was done and I paid, they continued to dig around the engine for quite a while and told me "so we lost your cap but it's no big deal, you can swing back by tomorrow and I will go get you one up the road at auto parts" Thats should've been my first red flag. I follow up the next day and they completely ignored me. I ended up going to auto parts and getting a cap myself (even though I know very little about cars). Missing an oil cap can have huge repercussions on an engine. So don't come here for an oil change. They can't keep up with your oil cap while doing your oil change. It caused way more stress and time than it was worth. I think they just recommended the new engine filter after realizing they lost the cap, so I ended up spending over $90 and 2 days on what was supposed to be a 10 minute oil change at half that price. Literally go anywhere else!! Completely unacceptable to tell a young girl it's safe to drive without an oil cap on her car. This is a careless mistake. I will never be going back here again and encourage you to find a better shop. read more

The reciept says they cleaned my windshield (NOT) Checked my tires (NOT) Topped my washer fluid (NOT) half way home checked windshield fluid and it was empty. Sad update, I took my vehicle to a different company who performs oil changes because my vehicle was driving very rough. (Stalling at stop signs and red lights, to the point where I had to keep my foot on the gas and brake at the same time) Come to find out , they messed up my screw cap by using an automatic drill on the oil pan and caused an enormous leak! I was told by the other company to get in contact with take five and hold them accountable! Also, when I was looking under my hood with the service worker at the other oil change place, we found the engine cap that take 5 apparently "lost". It was literally sitting in between the battery and the headlights. Unbelievable! This is very unprofessional. We TRUST you with our cars and your workers can't take their jobs SERIOUSLY! The fact that this company has a sign that states "stay in your car"... I see why they want you to stay in your car. So they can cover up their mess ups and play dumb. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. I arrived on a Saturday afternoon, and they had two bays open. I was running errands with our two dogs, and given the current pandemic issues, I really did not want to be squished into a small shop, or stand outside in the heat with the dogs. As soon as I pulled into line, one of staff members came up and let me know how long the wait was (~45 mins) and offered us all water. The wait was just a smidge longer, but being able to stay in the car was so much more comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly, efficient, and honest. They communicated with me constantly, offered suggestions, and tips. They were up front that because we had aftermarket wheels and tires they could do the air pressure check, which I appreciated their honesty about. We Started having alarms going off on my car saying "low oil pressure" just 5 days later on 11/28/22. This is by far the most convenient place to get your oil and filters changed. Fast service, and they check your air filters to make sure they are in good condition. If they need replacing, they will show them to you and ask if you'd like to replace them, and they carry a wide variety and can install while doing the oil change. Last time, they checked my tires and put air in them too. I timed my most recent oil change and it took a total of 16 minutes from the time I pulled up, to the time I pulled out. Not quite 5 minutes, but still impressively fast! I will definitely continue to take my cars here in the future, 16 minutes is extremely fast for all the things they check and put fresh oil in.
