Let's start by saying what Valvoline is…read more Valvoline is a place for quick, convenient fluid maintenance. Valvoline is **not** the place I would trust for mechanical diagnostics or major repairs. I bring my daily driver here. Is it because I can't change my own oil? Nope. It's because sometimes convenience wins. When it's 115° outside and my Durango needs an oil change, I'm more than happy to let someone else crawl underneath it. The pricing can be a little steep, but that's the tradeoff. You're paying for convenience, and convenience usually isn't free. An oil change is about as low-risk and high-reward as automotive maintenance gets. I pull in, stay in my air conditioning for most of the visit, they drain the oil, replace the filter, refill it with synthetic, top off a few fluids, and I'm back on the road without getting dirty or having to clean up the driveway afterward. Do they try to upsell additional services? Absolutely. It comes with the territory. A simple "No, thank you" has always been enough, and they move right along. I honestly don't have much to complain about. I'm usually in and out in about 30 minutes, my vehicle gets what it needs, and I get to cross one more thing off my to-do list. Sometimes that's worth every penny.

I have been a loyal customer of Valvoline Instant Oil Change for a long time and have always…read moreappreciated the "stay-in-your-car" transparency. However, my recent visit raised several red flags that left me deeply disappointed with the service standards: Unusual Payment Pressure & Distraction: Mid-service, a technician abruptly came over and insisted I pay before the job was completed--something I have never been asked to do here before. Instead of simply running my card, he insisted I walk over to the point-of-sale machine. It felt like a deliberate tactic to pull my attention away and distract me from watching the work being done on my vehicle. Coupon Confusion & Runaround: Initially, a technician claimed my $25 coupon wasn't valid. After searching on my own, I found a $15 coupon, which they accepted. Later, I checked the terms of the original $25 coupon again and realized it was valid after all. I had to contact corporate customer service separately to get my bill adjusted. Overfilled Oil Pan: To top it all off, I was later informed that they had overfilled my oil pan, requiring them to correct their mistake. The core appeal of this business model is being able to watch the technicians service your car right in front of you. Pushing customers to pay early and distracting them undermines that trust. Combined with billing hassles and fluid errors, this visit fell far short of expectations. I hope management addresses these procedural issues.

They recommend a new transmission for my car I explained I wanted a different service internally and they recommended an amazing transmission shop that is just as friendly and communicative and waived my inspection cost as there was a bit of miscommunication on the phone. I went here for several years and several thousand dollars in repairs. I waited to leave this…read morereview until my warranty on all work expired. Unfortunately, everyone works on commission which means if you pay more they make more. After my radiator was replaced they forgot to "hook up a hose properly" and the car rapidly accelerated while I was driving it without any gas and wouldn't stop. I had to put it in neutral while driving and it continued to redline until I turned off the car while driving over 30 miles an hour with all brakes deployed.. It was handled as a whoopsie like many other's experiences here. There were lots of suspicious billing things done. They would charge labor for a temperature sensor that belong to a thermostat which was probably three or four more hours work. (See invoice #1- the part is a temperature sensor with double thermostat and temp labor billed) They marked up parts almost 200% or 300%. When I got diagnosed as needing fuel injectors, they told me each fuel injector would cost $400. They then told me I was stupid for not thinking that parts wouldn't have a markup. That's a 400% up charge. That was the last straw for me. I ended up leaving permanently. After reviewing all my service records, I realize that they did some work twice AND never mentioned it was under warranty. When I requested a refund because they didn't honor their warranty, I was returned the lesser amount that I paid the first time instead of the large larger amount when they redid the work of the second time. I had to request my refund weekly for 6 to 8 weeks before I got it. I've uploaded a few invoices for you all to have a look at, so make your own conclusions.

He was on time, professional, and clearly knew what he was doing. He explained everything in a way that made sense, didn't try to upsell anything unnecessary, and made sure the job was done right. My A/C is now blowing cold again like it should, and the car is running perfectly. You can tell he takes pride in his work and cares about doing a quality job. On top of that, the convenience of him coming to me saved a lot of time and hassle. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone looking for reliable and honest mobile mechanic work.

However, I am very disappointed with the level of expertise and outcome of the visit. My 2014 Jeep compass has had the check engine light on for a week, steering locked up last week, and has had delayed clicking start. Justin arrived, I gave him the full history of my vehicle (no problems for 10 years) and the issues occurring the last month or so which prompted the call. He started running tests, even drove the car around to see if he could replicate what I had been experiencing. About 30 minutes into the visit he said he couldn't replicate any of the issues; that's okay, as I mentioned it only happened about 50% of the time. But he sat in my car another 20-30 minutes or so, told me he had to call his boss because he was completely stumped. Not really what you want to hear, but even I started making suggestions of what it could be so he could at least do something for me. At the end of the visit he basically just said "sorry I have no idea what's wrong, maybe replace your battery?"... the only thing he found was a sensor on my engine needed replacement, but it's totally unrelated to the other issues. I ended up having to pay $150 for literally no better idea what's wrong with my car and not feeling any safer to drive it. It was a huge waste of my time and now I'm out $150, and I still had to take it to another shop that already figured out the problem not even 24 hours later. Save yourself some money and go to a real auto shop. I understand that some technicians may be learning or lack the knowledge to dive deeper, but someone should be going with them to assist so your customers aren't left feeling robbed and confused.

I brought my (wife's) car here previously for a couple of items and had a good experience. It is time for an oil change again and I did some digging on the oil that was used last time and found that it was not the correct spec that's recommended by the manufacturer (VW/Audi). I called in to see if the correct oil could be ordered this time and was told flat out "no". A separate call back from a manager (I assume) reiterated this answer. I explained that HiTech oil they use was not the correct VW 508 00 spec that the sticker on my car indicates. I was told that they've used this oil for some time and "have never had an issue". That's great for you, but don't you think the manufacturer sets that spec for a reason? And fyi; no one has ever had an issue, until they have their first issue... I told him that I also reached out to the oil manufacturer LiquiMoly and they confirmed that this is not the correct oil for this engine, and that one of their other formulas should be used instead - at a minimal cost difference. This information did not sway him in any way and he said they would still not order me the correct oil, nor would they even use the correct oil if I provided it! How can a shop knowingly use the wrong fluid(s) in these high end cars?!? If I can't trust them to make the correct decision on this very simple issue, how can I trust them when there's a much more complicated repair? This is a deal breaker in my book. I hope a representative can respond here to explain to everyone why they would have this policy KNOWING that they're using the wrong oil (and have been for who knows how long). *they did explain that the weight of the oil they use is a bit thicker weight than what is recommended- this is NOT my concern, it is the spec of the oil that is the problem. Example: VW 505 00 vs. VW 508 00 If I was to have an engine warranty issue and Audi found out what oil I've been using , guess who would be in the hook for the cost?!?
