Have used this location several years, went today and the technicians were fumbling around like they didn't know what we're doing. I've lost confidence in them and I can't trust my car to their care anymore. Specific example, when it came time to check the air filter, the tech started to remove bolts from another part of the engine, eventually corrected himself, got tho old filter out, but then handed the new filter to another tech who couldn't figure out how to put it back in. I had a very disappointing experience at this oil change location. The technician clearly had no idea what he was doing. When trying to replace the cabin air filter, he almost broke the glovebox cover. He also didn't know how to replace the engine air filter in the front, took forever. . The staff here should be trained and knowledgeable, not guessing their way through the work and risking damage to the customer's vehicle. "10-Minute Oil Change" my ass. Take 5 on 50th should really rebrand to: "Sit in Your Car and Question Every Decision That Led You Here." I rolled in this afternoon, asked how long it'd be, and the guy tells me 30-40 minutes. Cool. Whatever. Not exactly the "10-minute" fantasy plastered everywhere, but that was just enough time to get my oil changed and pick up my kid from school. Ten minutes later, the car in front of me leaves. I move up. I wait. And wait. And wait. Finally I ask, "Have y'all even started on my car yet?" He shrugs and goes, "No. We're short-staffed." I get that. Like I've worked short-staffed before, and it's not the workers' fault. But if you're short-staffed, say that up front when I literally ask "how long do you think this will take?". And don't brag about being "fast" while people are literally sitting in your bays wondering if they've been abandoned. So I leave to go get my kid. Then I called customer service to tell them hey your workers are out here working their tails off and can't measure up to your "10-minute" promise, so either give them more help or stop your false advertising. I sat on hold for over an hour with no answer. Not even surprised. Screenshot included. So here's the real slogan for this place: "Take 5: We Take Your Time. And That's About It." We have spoken with the store manager Matthew Christianson and the stores corporate representatives on several occasions beginning on 9/7/22, and they have taken no actions as of 9/22/22 to refund the overcharges of $880.00. When we tried contacting their corporate office we were either hung up on or sent to agents who could not provide any assistance. We will never use Take 5 (or should I say Take $880.00) again and I would caution anyone who is considering using them. They're prices are cheap for a reason. read more

I was a 25 year customer of Boltons Oil Change. After the buy out by Take 5 the service got steadily worse & the price went way up. Last year I sat in line for 30 minutes before getting service (10 minutes my butt) Cost me $ 90 plus for an oil change. I was so disappointed with the time & price I started changing my own oil. I'm getting older so I thought to try again. On 3/23/24 I pulled behind one car with the hood already up. My wife & I sat for 30 minutes plus. No one was in any kind of hurry. They recently bought out Bolton Oil in my home city. The service, while still about the same speed, has dropped in the area of the complementary bottled soda. They used to offer soda or water before the buyout. Now they just proactively offer water and don't offer soda. The price of their in-house oil has gone up. They used to do a courtesy air filter check - where they would show you your air filter and offer a ten dollar replacement. Now they won't show you your air filter unless you've already committed to buying a new one at more than twice the price as before. The only reason they don't receive a one star review is that they still clean windows and they still change oil at about the same speed. If you just want to pay a premium for a relatively fast oil change they will do that. But don't set your hopes too high that the company is at all as good to it's customers, or fairly priced, as Bolton Oil used to be. I will not likely be going back. read more

I have used take 5 oil change in Lubbock, Tx the last 3 times I changed the oil in my 2013 Lincoln mks. Most recently I was shown the air filter And choose not to replace the filter. Last week, 12-20-2021 the Lincoln stalled and came to a rest. I payed $70.00 to have it towed to my favorite Lubbock repair shop. The result was the air filter was to small and allowed dirt and debery to clog the air flow. The repair bill was $500.00. No on else touched my Lincoln except take 5 on W 82nd in Lubbock, Texas. On 7/25/22 I went for an oil change. They drained my transmission fluid instead of the oil then added new oil on top of old oil. I immediately new when I left that something was not right. I returned and they told me what had happened. My car was damaged. Specifically the transmission. I ended up trading it in 2 weeks later. DO NOT USE this company. This is the company that recently bought Bolton Oil Change locations in Lubbock. I first stopped at a Bolton location this morning, the line was long. A service person at Bolton suggested going to the Take 5 on Quaker for a shorter wait time. Overall service level at Take 5 was similar, but pricing with Take 5 is WAY TOO HIGH. The same synthetic oil with my prior oil change at Bolton's was $43; at Take 5 the estimate was $94. I understand that wholesale suppliers' pricing affects the retail consumer price, but more than double?? I am now searching for another oil change shop for future service. Very disappointed with service I received today at the new Take 5 Oil Change on Quaker Ave. sad to see this is what Boltons sold out to. I stop in due to them carrying the certain oil I was wanting, to find out they didn't have it. I was told by one manger they were out, the second manager said they had it, which one was it. Service took WAY Too long due to them having issues getting my drain plug out, needless to say I've never had any other issues. Once they finally got that out, NOBODY could figure out how to undo my air filter cabin to Change a simple air filter!! 3-4 different people tried & their excuse was "they didn't have the right tools". If that's the case, y'all need to go buy some tools being a big time chain like this. Checking out, blew my mind... $75.00 for an oil change. RIDICULOUS!! That didn't even include the filter they didn't change. Management tried to correct by reimbursing me, which i declined, reason being I did receive an oil change, and they gave me a free oil change. The absolute worst service you could possibly imagine. So far my car has been stuck in their shop for 5 hours because the technician drained my transmission fluid instead of the oil. The employees continue to lie having said that they were just trying to get the skid plate back on. After two and a half hours he finally admitted that it was more than the skid plate but wouldn't say what. After 4 hours he finally admitted that he had drained the transmission fluid instead of the oil. If you value your car do not bring it here this is the worst service in Lubbock Texas. read more

The name is take 5 oil change but it took an hour, seriously an hour once we got to the oil bay. They have girls there that we're doing nothing more than just being a distraction to the guys trying to work. I'm all for feminism but feminism only works if they know what the hell they are doing. And the girls did not. Ryan took care of us, and I recommend if you want things done the correct way you ask for him and not chance having anyone else touching your vehicle. Absolutely ridiculous. I have had to replace 2 oil pans after going to 2 different Take 5 locations in Lubbock, TX. I took both of the vehicles back when the oil was leaking, and the workers told me everything looked good. I then took both vehicles to multiple automotive repair locations for an estimate and all businesses reported that one of the oil pans had been over tightened and it cracked the oil pan, and other vehicle had the plug stripped and there was no way to fix it. These 2 errors cost $1300 to repair! Do not go to this business. read more

I had the plan to move from Lubbock and I was thinking to go this place to change oil and inspect my car to make sure the car is ready for a trip (to move to another city). after 8 hours of driving, my car did not moved! it stopped! as a girl in the road on Sunday evening without road assistant, imagine how difficult it was!! I am paying $900 for coolant exchange today. I brought my vehicle for an inspection at Quaker location. Technician recommended changing coolant as well and I agreed. After running vehicle for a few days with new coolant I started noticing a coolant smell. But didn't see any leaks when I inspected it. This morning when driving to work I noticed steam coming from under hood. I immediately brought vehicle into nearest Take 5 and had it inspected. They noticed a small puncture and crack at the top of radiator. I communicated with the manager at the Quaker Take 5 of possible damage that appeared after service. They were later told by a local mechanic that he didn't think they were at fault and so Take 5 will not pay for replacement radiator. I will not be taking my vehicle to any TAke 5 and have my vehicle serviced again. There was no issues before they serviced vehicle and afterwards damage appeared on radiator and now I'm paying $900 for a coolant change. read more

I took my dads GMC Arcadia for an oil change before our Grand Canyon trip. When we got to the hotel in Arizona I notice an oil leak . I used a jack to lift the vehicle and notice to oil filter was loose. I'm glad I noticed it before it leaked out all the oil. This is my first time to go back since the takeover from Bolton's and like someone else said in a review, my oil change was $28 higher than it was last time for the exact same oil that I got. Easily the best way for me to discontinue using a local business is by jacking your prices up that much when you first take over.
