I love how unpretentious Talo's is. It's on the same stretch of road as a few chains, but it's clear that a ton of locals and Latinos come here to eat. The place is set up and it feels like a relaxed fast food eatery. It's big, clean, and comfortable. The cashier was super nice and gave me massive bottles of tasty hot sauce and salsa verde with my food. Don't expect a restaurant style experience here! I only had their pollo asado and their adobado tacos and both were very tasty. They seemed a bit pricey initially but once I received them I realized why: they're HUGE. I am a former regular at this place. I live 10 miles away from there & stop every time I am in the area which is regularly. This time they completely messed up my order & when I called to let them know they put me on hold for 5 minutes & then hung up on me. I called them back & they put me on hold again. When they finally came back they told me to bring the burritos back or there's nothing they can do. I informed them again that I'm over 15 min away & they told me there's nothing they can do. Talo's is typical of Sonoran cuisine which for me falls in the category of " Mexican Border " food. Most of the Nexican restaurants in Arizona use yellow Monterey Jack or cheddar. I have yet to see a restaurant in AZ that use "queso blanco, or queso Oaxaca. They also use lettuce instead of cilantro. I'm from Chicago and we believe Mexican Restaurants here are as good as you'll find anywhere. The portion sizes have significantly decreased, and the quality has declined over the past few years, all while prices continue to rise. This place is what I wish most Mexican fast food tasted like. Great customer service as well! I ordered a few meal plates and my enchilada plate was missing. Called to let them know and they said they'd refund me for the missing plate and give it to me for free if I drove back.
