Came here a few weeks ago and had a really great experience. Our server mentioned that it was their last day at that location because they were moving to Mesa. I didn't know before visiting that "Tambayan" means a place to relax, hang out, and feel at home but after being there, it made a lot of sense. The staff did a great job creating that kind of atmosphere. Our server was friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy talking with people, checking in with every table and making everyone feel welcome. We ordered the BBQ chicken with lumpia and rice and it was really good. We also got a calamansi drink that was super refreshing. We wanted to try the ube horchata too, but they were out of ube that day. They also have a cool photo spot set up to look like a small store you might see in the Philippines, which was a fun touch. Overall, everything was great. I'm not sure if the new Mesa location is open yet but it's definitely a place I'll be looking out for. I'm sure they will bring the same food, service, and welcoming vibe to the new location so it'll be just as good.

I stopped by Tambayan Filipino Food for dinner with some coworkers on a Tuesday around 5:30. Tambayan has a large parking lot so free parking won't be a problem. I was excited to try out this Filipino restaurant. I'm from Houston which has a large Filipino population. I have some good friends who are Filipino. This was my first time having Filipino cuisine in Phoenix. Ambiance (2.5/5): If you're looking for ambiance, you won't find it here. Tambayan is no frills. A bit of an ugly looking restaurant but hey, I was there for the food. Service (3/5): Service is mediocre. Not terribly attentive, though I do understand it's not easy to take care of a group of eight people. The type of service where the waitress doesn't stop by regularly. You have to grab her attention. Drinks (3.5/5): No alcohol but they do have some Filipino options which was nice to see. Including kalabasa juice (Filipino lime) which I went with. It's basically a refreshing lemonade and hit the spot. Food (4.5/5): This is where Tambayan shines. We did the family platter which is for six people. What's great about it is that you get a nice variety of Filipino dishes. The presentation of the dish is awesome too as it comes on a large platter. A feast for sure! It consists of white rice, pancit (Filipino noodles), chicken adobo (soy-marinated chicken), pork intestine skewers, another pork dish with egg (whose name is escaping me), lumpia (Filipino egg rolls), an eggplant dish, a blood pork dish (tastes better than it sounds), lechon kawala (friend pork belly), a soup dish (reminiscent of Tom Yum soup at Thai restaurants), and grilled pork skewers. If you've never had Filipino food before, I'd normally recommend pancit, lumpia, lechon, or adobo as these are the most popular Filipino dishes. They're good here too, though the lechon was a bit too fatty for my taste. With that being said, the pork skewers were the star of the show. They were marinated well, bursting with flavor, and a good deal of meat was on them. The type of dish I would come back for again and again. Even if you've had Filipino food before, this is some quality Filipino food!

Had to make a quick stop before heading back up north. I've heard so much about this place and was happy I finally got a chance to stop in. It was song 3pm on a weekday so it was pretty dead but the ambiance looked like it would be a fun place to hang out when it's busy. Staff was very friendly and attentive. As far as the food it was very good and I was pleased with what I got. I ordered the tortang along, one of my favorite dishes. It was cooked well in favorful. And of course, I had to finish it off with the halo halo. I want to stop by again and try their bbq. Until next time...

Tambayan Filipino Food was a nice stop, and the service was friendly. My mom wanted Filipino food, so we came here, and overall the food was decent. But I was honestly surprised by how limited the fresh vegetable options were. Almost everything on the menu was fried or pork‑based. I don't eat pork, and while I know a lot of Pinoys love their lechon and crispy dishes, it would be great to see more balanced choices. Filipino cuisine has so many incredible vegetable dishes -- Pinakbet, Ginataang Sitaw, Ginisang Munggo, Laing -- but I didn't see any of them offered. And the few "healthier" items listed still had pork in them, which was disappointing. I'm not picky, but c'mon... not everyone eats pork! A couple of vegetable‑forward, pork‑free classics would make a huge difference and open the menu to more people. The only reason why I bumped it up to 4 is because of the service. Otherwise, it would have been a 3. Service was good, the food we did try was fine, and the vibe was welcoming -- I just hope they expand the menu to include more of the Filipino vegetable dishes we all grew up with. At least put some Fresh Lumpia.

Absolutely delicious! Just what we needed after a trip back from Flagstaff. As I learned, Tambayan, means a place to relax, hang out, feel at home and I definitely get those vibes from not only their place itself but the food. We can for a late lunch around 1:30 ish and wasn't too busy and were greeted quickly. Service was great and food was tasty. I love love grilled meats and they did their grilled chicken perfectly. We both got the chicken bbq plate which comes with rice, lumpia, and cucumber. Oh my gosh! Chicken was so tender and flavorful. The secret sauce they use is mmmm mmm good! I haven't had lumpia in a while and of course hit the spot. I was perfectly content 100% with this plate. I definitely recommend it. Not picture were the drinks we had. My partner had the Ube mil tea which I had a sip and was amaaaaazing! I had the Kalamansi juice which was perfect. It wasn't too sweet or tart. Perfect! I highly recommend checking this plate out. If you never had Filipino food, this is a great spot to check out. You will not be disappointed. We are definitely coming back. Has good proportions and priced fairly with good service. I can't wait to try their desserts next time and the pork bbq plate and sizzling sisig. Come swing by! You won't regret it!

I miss Filipino food I'm so glad we found this spot. Service was quick and ambiance your usual busy restaurant. Everything we ate was sumptuous! 4.6 stars. See you in Mesa!

What an absolute treat this place is. It was about time we got a solid Filipino restaurant in central Phoenix, and Tambayan does not disappoint! The menu has a great selection of items: rice plates, shareables, family platters, desserts. There are so many things to choose from, every time I'm here I definitely tend to over-order. The food is authentic, and so is the vibe! From being packed on Sundays (after church hours), occasional random "Happy Birthday" singing, to the straight-up karaoke sessions mid-meal. This place feels like back home to me. The sari-sari store mock-up is one of my favorite parts. Onto the eats: the BBQ here is solid! I like their chicken and pork bbq rice plates. This day I opted for the bangus (milkfish), and it really hit the spot. On weekends they serve pork sinigang, so we had to get that to share and it was deliciously sour! It tasted like someone's mother made it for us and that's exactly the kind of experience I am looking for at any restaurant. My recommendations: you have to get the sago at gulaman to drink, it's perfectly sweet and balances out the saltiness and heartiness of the meal. I also suggest you check out the desserts and pastries on the way out! My top hitters are the ube puto and leche flan. Always looking forward to coming back here.

We loved everything about this restaurant! From the welcoming vibe, the selections of food, cute photo props Sari Sari Store and Kareoke stage that anyone at anytime can use. One of the staff blessed us with a few songs which was a nice treat and even took a picture with us which we really appreciate. The restaurant is clean, food taste great and the staff is amazing. We are from our of town but will definitely come and visit whenever we are in the area.

Had a festive and fun meal here around Xmas time with a friend who was homesick for some good Filipino food. She's been here before and said it was good so it was nice to hear this place has already been vetted by a native from the Philippines. There is plenty of seating and they also have a take out area, and cute Sari Sari (convenience) store with various snacks for sale that my friend said looked just like the ones back home. The kids were excited to have the Filipino style spaghetti but alas, they were sold out when we were here. We opted for some pancit for them, and we also ordered some chicken inasal and lumpia. Everything was enjoyable but I liked the chicken inasal the most. It's one of my friend's favorite dishes and I can see why! I loved the lemongrass marinade, slight smoky taste from grilling the chicken, and the tender meat. I'd definitely get it again. We indulged in some desserts too which were scarfed up quickly!

We came here right after my daughter graduated from GCU. and the food was so delicious. Everything was so good. We got the family boat that feeds 4 to 6 people. And we got the Pork adobo. Sad that this was my daughter's last year and we just find it. If I ever go back I will make sure that I will stop bye.

Amazing restaurant! Been here twice now and always impressed by the food. The sisig was a delicious explosion of flavor, same with the palabok with lechon. The platter was enormous and everything was incredible. My favorites were the tortang talong, tocino, and pancit. Our friend was celebrating their birthday, so the servers even played happy birthday music and brought our table a halo halo. Nice, ample space with an area for karaoke as well. Will keep coming back.

We came on Easter Sunday, It was super packed !! The service was good considering there was ONLY two servers !!! They both did super amazing for just the two of them serving, seating & bussing tables. The food was amazing it definitely did not disappoint. It hit close to home although I know each person makes things differently but it was close to how we make our Filipino food !! The restaurant itself was super welcoming. They have karaoke nights which I'm unsure when it happens. I would definitely recommend going here if you're looking to try a new Filipino place or just looking for a restaurant to become your regular restaurant !! The only thing is I would recommend hiring or scheduling maybe one or two more servers just so that they don't feel overwhelmed with serving the entire restaurant

Ate here recently for the first time. The dining room was pleasing and I love the sari sari store inside. Th wait staff was nice and the food was good. Reminds me of my 2 trips to the Philippines. My dish was the pancit and lumpia and my dad got the chicken and pork bbq. His was sooooo good. I got jealous his was better to be honest. Hope to visit here again soon. So masarap.

The restaurant has a pretty good size dining area. You can also order ahead for pick up. Employees are very friendly here and I appreciated the fact that the older gentleman was nice enough to give me a sample size of the Langka. It was right on the money! All of the food we got was definitely made with love. You can see it and you most certainly can taste it. I'm a big fan of Sisig, so it was only right to order it. They offer steamed white rice, garlic fried rice and pancit for your base. You get to choose your entrées (choose 1, 2 or 3). I opted for the sisig and their pork adobo which I have been told is a best seller here. No lies were told, as the adobo was on point! I also wanted to sample their "bilo bilo" and it was just like my mom's. I can never get enough!! Prices here won't swallow your wallet, and the parking lot outside is huge!
