Most of the times the food is wonderful, but the other night their fried beef was way too salty. The rice was kind of different from the good quality that I usually get there. I'm just trying to point out some sort of inconsistency that is the characteristic of these ethnic restaurants. I have had more positive experience with them then negative ones, but because of the seriousness of blood pressure and other cardiovascular diseases, I have very low tolerance for inconsistency when it comes to the level of salt to expect from my go to restaurant. I could have tried to reach the manager but I am not sure that they would take my concern into great consideration. read more

Every time I go here it's always dead. Today I called ahead of time so I could just grab my food and go. The lady that answered the phone put me on hold so I decided to go inside because I figured maybe they were busy. When I came in, she's standing at the bar and no one came to greet me or seat me. While she stares me down from the bar, I tell her I want to order. She gets on the phone and starts calling someone. When I look at my phone I see it's her trying to call me back from when I tried calling earlier. Then I tell her she's calling me and she has an attitude and says "I told you to hold". Girl, hold for what?? It's empty in here! I order my food then ask her if it comes with a salad. She again has an attitude and says I get a salad only when I sit in here and eat. The guy that works there usually gives me a salad even when I do take out but whatever. The only reason I gave it two stars is because last time I came in and sat down, the guy that was my waiter was so great. read more

I called ahead and I was on the guest list plus 1. The call alone was a positive experience. Ms. Vaughndra was polite and just all around professional nice on the phone. 2 the atmosphere was great. Slow to start but Island time never disappoints... by 11:00 all of The Who's who think they are who come out and the party gets started. 3 the drinks are expensive but not more than any other club. So drink up before you get here for that buzz. If you have to order Bobby will take care of you. 4 I was invited to Sunday brunch and I was informed that I can be in the guest list every weekend if I so choose. Not a bad deal. Fun was had. I brought a Fritay with Fried pork at that place, and I regret it. It tasted nasty and the food smell dead rat its like the fritay has been sitting there for days. I had to throw the food that I had spend $25.00 in the trash that's how bad it was. I have a bad stomach diarrhea I'm not sure if I didn't get food poison I will get a check up from the hospital and report this restaurant to the business bureau. I came here on a Saturday night with family to eat dinner. The place was REALLY quiet and empty so I wasn't initially sure if they were open. But we were able to get a large table right away. My boyfriend ordered me & others some red wine. The wine was alright, but I appreciate it not stinging my tongue as a result of it being super cheap. We ordered the Fritay platter, and the seafood creole, since I was REALLY in the mood for lambi. The food here was actually really really good!! Its just that the service was extremely slow. I was hoping the Fritay platters were coming out as appetizers but we waited a looooong while for our food & also the bill! Dined here on a Sunday evening looking to satisfy a craving for some Haitian food without driving all the way into Boston. To start, we ordered the fritay griot, salad, and accras. My only confusion was the speed of service. The place was empty yet it took at minimum 30 minutes just to get appetizers. And within 5 minutes of being served the apps, the entrees came out. I ordered the goat which was good, the fried fish was okay, and at the seafood conch was more of a baby conch. I'm never even seen conch that small. All in all, I would probably eat here again, but they definitely need to up their speed of service. read more

I waited 30, drove from the next town over and waited for an additional 40 mins inside the restaurant. I was told 5 minutes every 15 minutes, I was also told it was because of the fish I ordered. Which actually would of been the quickest thing to prepare .. Ironically the lady who arrived after me had a similar story but and wasn't quiet about. After getting the food much of it tasted old and the pikliz tasted like a dirty refrigerator. I was very disappointed after waiting so long for the food. The food was sub par and terrible portions in comparison to their competitors. Especially considering their inflated prices. I would recommend multiple other Haitian restaurants in Brockton. We were a rather large group of 20. We had made a same day reservation and pre ordered our food. Once we got to the restaurant, we were sitting there for over an hour before the owner pulled me aside to confirm our orders. Mind you, we sent in our orders roughly 2 hours before we came into the restaurant. It took us three hours to get SOME of our food and FOUR hours to get 90% of what we ordered. A couple came into the restaurant and got their food within 20 minutes of entering. It was disrespectful and humiliating for us to see someone get fed when we were waiting for over three hours. We didn't even get any bread while the couple did. Nor did we get refills for our water. The food tasted good but it wasn't worth the wait. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for large parties nor for anyone who values good service. read more

THE WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER! Went there with my girlfriends for a nice night of drinks N eats. We got there for 9 on a friday night and the place was DEAD We were the only ones there. I was looking for suggestions on what else to get which would require the help of the waitress since you know, she works there. But instead she just turned away pointed to my friend (Yes Pointed) and said "I'll take your order now" ...... Wait! Did she just dismiss me? my friend raised a brow at me as to say "Yup she did!" So that was close to 10...fast forward its 11pm and after more than a few tables are waited on, even some have eaten and left, Viola! our food is FINALLY here!! I kept asking myself "Why am i still here" I couldnt blame it on the drinks since I only had a sprite.. well coke..I mean I ordered a sprite that tasted more like seltzer water sent it back then 20 mins later found out the machine was broken and ended up waiting another 10 for coke (Sigh) Ok maybe the food will make this place worth it! Eh maybe not..edible but way over priced. Maybe our experience was an isolated thing? We maybe caught the wrong waitress at the wrong time. Well to my surprise (well...not really) we chatted w/ another group of ladies in another section of the restaurant (a group of 4 as well) who told us that THEIR waitress confronted them about their tip. Yup, apparently she wasnt happy with the amt and went up to them and told them so (Nothing passive aggressive about this girl) This upset them and they were ready to speak to the manager. After that story we are ready to leave and when we get the bill we see that Gratuity was automatically added to our check! What is up with that? We only had 4 in our group. The other group didnt get this on their bill AND if that previous group didnt tip the way they liked does not mean the next group (us) will do the same. Never Ever...ever coming back. This is probably my most favorite spot ever. All the food is amazing, if you arent experienced in the menu just be adventurous. I have eaten full meals and appetizers here many many times and everything i have eaten has been amazing. The atmosphere is wonderful and generally on fridays they do have some sort of jazz band but lately i havent seen anyone playing. Pricing is above average for the area but it is well worth it for the atmosphere. This is the type of establishment you can wear your fancy shoes and dress to and feel amazing while doing it. I come to brockton from far West nearly every weekend. I decided to try this place. My bartender was the hostess and she did a excellent job. Great well kept atmosphere quite the vibe like settings , with a touch of classic 60s modernized. The food and drinks was inspired by Haiti and, was excellent. The price was actually fitting to the appearance of the place. I will return again maybe this weekend before it transform into a night club. read more

Went here for a wedding rehearsal dinner. The food was very tasty, but the service was just crappy. The waitresses were not attentive, they randomly carded certain people in our party. One of the waitresses was dressed really inappropriately, but I guess it was because they host a club night the night before? First experience is the worst! I walked in server addressed me by letting me know how she was afraid of me not picking up my food, because she has 3 other orders that customers did not come to pick up their food. And now I can see why! I got my food 5 minutes after it came from the back, food was super cold and hard and soggy. I called the restaurant and was told to bring it back for a new plate, got new plate just to get a bunch of fatty meat and a bunch of grease. fry goat flavor was not there, too much rice and no sauce, fritay was just bad, I feel like it was just re heated and was given to me. A couple weeks ago I worked with Eva at Tamboo to plan a bridal brunch for my sister. I had to change my venue last minute and reached out to Tamboo literally the night before the shower was scheduled. Eva and her team were very accommodating and helpful as I dealt with this last minute. I visited TAMBOO when I was searching for a restaurant to host my parent's 25th anniversary dinner a few years back. I worked closely with Chris who created an amazing family style menu for 30. He was accommodating and ensured that the dinner went off without a hitch. I thought the service and food were great, and i'm Haitian. The nightlife is a beautiful melting pot of Haitian and Cape Verdean culture. The hard hitting beats of the music and the dancing are always an enjoyment. We ordered our drinks and appetizers and waited 30min for drinks that came one at a time and the waitress wanted me to take my own napkin and straw off the tray. They didnt have beef to go with our meal and offered us pork or goat but we had to pay an extra $5 for goat. In the Cherry Noir drink they missed some components one bein the coke and asked my friend wat juice she would like in her drink not explaining why. It was just a whole mess but the food was ok. I met a couple of friends at Tamboo last night for drinks and appetizers. The club/restaurant is laid out really well, the design is modern and clubby. The bar menu is filled with delicious, although mostly fried, items. We sampled the coconut shrimp, the fried plantains (not sweet), the meatballs, and the crabcakes. All of the food was good. However, the bar staff was untrained in the cocktails on the menu, were mostly polite but not very attentive, and when we paid the bill, they didn't bring us the change, but assumed that we were going to leave them over 20%. We were aiming to leave 20%, but didn't feel that they deserved that, nevermind over 20%. I am sure that these same staff members would be great with some intense training. read more

This place is horrible. I ordered 3 plates of food and was told 25 mins. When I arrived it took 45 mins to get the food. When we received the food the sos pwa (haitian bean sauce) was in a plastic container that was only half full. The fish that was ordered was very small. The quality of the food was horrible. This is my first and last time I will eat from here. This place is overpriced. I have been to many other haitian restaurants and get double the amount of food that taste 10 times better for less the price. read more

Unfortunately i will never step foot in this place again Very poor service with only five patrons at the time of my last visit on October 14 (2015). Highly disappointed . Nice place for a quick drink. Just terrible location and no parking. Prices are too steep for being on Main st in Brockton. The music is nice and when you are in there it doesn't feel like you are in the center of Brockton until it gets late and people get a little drunk. Sometimes it can be out of control. read more

I ordered a take out to which they told me it will be ready in 15mns - it however took them 1hr- I was very patient from the beginning but lost it when the waitress couldn't even place my order so that I could pay- I expressed my concern to the person believe to be the manager - but typical of the restaurant no recognition was given to my frustration and that they did something wrong and to even apologize to an unhappy customer - I am certain I will never go back!!! read more

Like a lot of people, I wanted to give this place high marks but just can't because of how slow the kitchen was. We came at the opening at 5 pm with only one other table there with two people. We waited almost an hour from the time our order was placed to when we got our food. The food was only ok and there wasn't very much of it for the price. The waitress was really nice but she was doing everything. Waiting tables, bartending, bar backing, hostessing, etc. she messed up the order slightly bit she was the saving grace. Luckily we were celebrating as a family and it was all good due to the laughs we had. But I will not go back and cannot recommend going. read more
