The manager had since called to apologize and invited us back to refund the $2. Wouldn't have gone back if we didn't care for the products and $2 certainly wasn't worth the time. He was gracious enough to offer us a discount for the next order, which, we took him up on by ordering two cakes for Mother's Day. This bakery offers birthday cakes in large, regular (9 inch), and small sizes. They offer Chinese pastries, breads, buns, tarts, and mooncakes. I've been coming here ever since I was 4 for my birthday cakes. We usually get the 13x9 cakes. The thing I like about Chinese bakeries is that the cakes are composed of whipped cream and a sponge/angel food cake with a custard center. In American bakeries, the cakes are usually more dense, crumbly, and come with frosting or really thick whipped cream, which is just too much fat and sugar for me. The mousse cakes here aren't so great, but the regular, whipped cream-covered birthday cakes are pretty good, to me at least. Their coconut cake isn't bad. This bakery used to be my favorite. I used to orders birthday cakes and pastry here all the time. Recently I went back to get mooncakes for the moon cake festival and a durian roll to satisfy my sudden craving. I had tried their durian roll in the past and it was delicious. Even though they increased the price significantly, I thought it's still worth it based on my memory of how it tasted. Sadly to say, The quality is not the same as before. This place is just horrible, extremely terrible Customer Service, it was never worse in my life. Not sure if they were racist, but they were mocking me, and showed a lot of attitude toward just helping a customer. If someone asked for help, you shouldn't mock a customer, and when I said I wanted to cancel because she won't write my daughter's name on the birthday cake, the lady acted like a kid, and started to taunt me somewhat in Chinese. I'm very upset, and my daughter probably did not have a very happy birthday today. I would give a zero star if I could. But this place? Customer service is the worst, the fact that the other workers also show no attempt to stop her but just watched. I have read other reviews on google review 7 months ago, the exact same story seem to happened, a guy was complaining about customer service and how they did not helped him with his daughter's cake. i was there for the first time and i thought it looked kinda fobby and ghetto. its not just this place, its the whole plaza being fobby and ghetto looking. i guess i haven't been in this neighborhood for awhile and maybe i am just not used to it. well i bought their custard buns and taro toasts. I thought they tasted okay, it wasn't something i'd crave for everyday. Taro toasts is moist but very oily (thats just the way they make the bread moist). Not enough taro paste within the toast. i am giving them one star for the service for the cashier. i always come here to get cakes and pastry. but one time i was ordering a bday cake for my son and requested a specific color of the cake. Disgusting. I use to love this place. Started hating it when I preordered a simple Thomas the train cake. They gave me some problems and didn't want to add any strawberry shortcake on the side. Fine... Picked it up and it was a mess. Blotches of food coloring cream. Not worth it. Yesterday was my birthday so my husband bought my favorite fruit tart custard cake. taro bun--to buy or not to buy, ive had it before and the fake-looking purple filling was a bit too oily for me the last few times, not to mention that last time when i found a hair in one of the slices of my coconut bread loaf. but i understand mistakes are made sometimes (and i was craving unhealthy breads and pastries lol) so there i was standing in line arguing with myself (with side questions of whether or not i should get a slice of that cake thats staring at me). its almost my turn to pay so i have to make the decision now! but the decision was made for me. the person in front of me had bought a loaf of coconut bread and asked for an extra bread loaf bag. i heard the cashier say they dont give out extra bags. upon which he explained that his daughter was in college and he wanted to split the loaf with her so he needed a bag to split it and leave at her dorm. i thought it sounded pretty reasonable..but the cashier wasnt quite listening and just repeated, "we dont give out bags." so he said alright any bag will suffice, can i have another plastic bag then? but the cashier again repeated "we're not allowed to give out extra bags, one piece of bread means one bag" now this was a problem because the line was being held up and i took it as a sign to not buy my taro bun. but before i could step out of the line, he told the cashier that he doesnt want to give them his business and that he'd like a refund. the cashier looked at him like he said pigs can fly or something and after some hesitance proceeded to return the money to him. i dont know if the owner counts bags and compares them to how many buns/loaves he or she sells but if that is so, then this owner does not know how to run a business. customer service is key. as for the employees, i feel sorry that they have a boss like that.. sorry taro buns and coconut loaves, you dont taste that good for me to come to businesses that have no compassion whatsoever read more

1/4 sheet ice cream cake is $44 which is really reasonable and perfect for a cake for the office. Any left over will last for a while in a fridge. After all, this is a nice cream cake. I stop by sometime when I crave for cake. Last time I got a slice of strawberry & taro cake both were stale and moldy. Ordered couple of half sheet simple birthday cakes from here it was good, but had problem ordering kids' theme birthday cake, if you request to switch the toy that goes on top of the cake the design cost will be double even though each toy sold separately. Instead of buying this toy can I buy the other toy instead? They wont do it. You have to buy both toys, which is $20 total. Just to switch a toy! I thought that was rediculous. I've been coming to this bakery since childhood but yesterday was probably the worst service I've ever seen. When I was being brought up, everything was fine, however next to me, this elderly men was being brought up as well. Either there was a language barrier or he was slightly deaf but the worker was giving so much attitude telling him he was missing 50 cents. She printed out the receipt and shoved it in his face to try to tell him he was missing 50 cents. She kept rolling her eyes at him. She was also whispering to the other workers something about the elderly man. I don't know what her problem. I love their taro breads and their po tats (eggtart with the burnt top aka Portuguese style) super good! I love the cakes here as well, they are quite moist for a bakery like this. Their bread isn't bad either and I like to use them for sandwiches. One thing I really don't like is the workers that work here, they have really bad attitudes and they do not smile at all. I've been coming to this bakery since it first opened. For my brother-in-law's birthday, I bought a 1/4 sheet strawberry cake for $29.00. I took the cake over to my nieces house on Christmas day. We celebrated Christmas and Joe's birthday at her house. After dinner, we sang "Happy Birthday", Joe blew out the candles and we cut the cake. The strawberry birthday cake was a huge success. This place is terrible. The sale ladies were so rude and mean. I bought 1 cakeroll and 2 cold desert also known as chiffon cake. When my daughter and I left the store. My daughter and I were eating almost 1/3 of the chiffon cakes in the car, then we saw black mold inside the chiffon cakes. I went back to the store to tell the store manager or workers that your chiffon cakes have a lot of black molds inside the chiffon cake. Then one of the girl was so rude and so mean.
